These are the cat's meow when it comes to fast and accurate threading. I have a couple of GEOMETRIC die heads, and they are a pleasure to use even if only a few threads are to be produced. New these things were around US$1600 some years ago. The thread chasers (cutting inserts) were about US$100 per set. Ebay may have used die heads at lower cost. The cutter inserts may be re-sharpened, but this takes skill and care.
Yeah, I’ve got a 5/16” DSA and a 9/16” DSA and am thinking of getting a 3/4” DSA. It’s hard to get useful chasers though. I’ve got p,entry for the smaller ones, but before I buy the bigger I’m trying to see if I can get the chasers. MSC Industrial still sells some from Vargas and I think GH. The Vargas cost an average of $125, and the others an average of $450 per set. But most are now unavailable anyway (6/1/24), so it hardly matters what they cost. Too bad, but these have gone the way of the Dodo.
