There's another version of this song and it sounds amazing and it's different because it's very polished and "finished". This sounds so raw and imperfect and I love it.
+Snehal Mane This is the leaked demo version. The more "polished" version is official and released in 2011 as a limited edition vinyl. Just to let you know :)
Whyyyyy isn’t this on Spotify... I had this version on my phone for years, I thought this was the original. The original is nice, but this is something else. Enchanting.
@@christhewiz9103, fuck, is true, haha, this version has a second piano playing deep notes and the voice is a little bit lower, that's makes it sound more serious and sad.
I love listening to this and mentally replacing the world Ruby, with the name of the girl I like haha (even though the rest of the lyrics dont really apply to her)
This actually makes me love how things was before I use this song as a time machine and it helps me remember who I really am, specifically this old version of Ruby.
I met Mark in 2007 and this song was on his demo. Stripped. This song convinced me of his immense talent. Glad he's recognized today. Great guy and great Artist.
I really enjoy the way FTP sound live/studio unedited. They sound really great on the more natural side, but not bad when edited a bit for some of the songs they've done.
It feels good to know that someone else knows how hard it is to go on with life some days... even if the song isn't even remotely for the audience, it still feels good... just knowing that someone knows how hard it is wake up and go on makes me want to get out of bed in the mornings, and hold my head high against all odds... thank you Mark :)
To me, it's about a mother who's husband/man left her. Tge song is written from the perspectove of someone who loves her and wants her to live through it.
I must say, from the horrible music that is being produced today, this band finds a way to make some of the most beautiful, original, awesome, creative, and deep songs out there today. the entire torches album is downright amazing, and so is this amazing band! amazing job Foster the People, you have won my heart and respect. I cannot wait for the next album, I bet it will be just as amazing as torches is!
This song is so underrated live. They played this as their first encore right before their outro with Pumped Up Kicks and the crowd wouldn't shut up and let me enjoy the beautiful song.
It's unique, to say the least. Every song gives off a different vibe and emotion, but everything is tied together by Mark Foster's creative and minimalistic songwriting. It's truly a work of art in itself, and it's not uncommon to like every song on the album equally.
this song brings me to tears nearly every time. i relate to it so much. most beautiful song i have ever heard. THIS takes true talent to write. well done mark :)
Came here again because of Nam Taehyun, this was one of my favorite song and tbh I totally forget about this because I got into Kpop and I focused more to Winner and became an Incle. But then, thanks Nammie!!! We have the same taste as always. =^.^=
Flat out Fucking classic song with all the sad emotional trimmings! :-) The overall talent of the band is grade A. I don't get into all their songs but I love a bunch forsure! :-) This one kicks butt! :-)
Rules in life are so simples : if someone hates you I'll never let you know it about it however if someone loves you I'd better let you know it, show it and share it with you I wanna find, I wanna feel, I wanna be steady I wanna try, I wanna feel, it's time for me to be shown
It seems like the person that this song is about is A) His sister (if he has one idk) B) a cousin or C) A very close friend. What seems to be her problem is that she's depressed. "Ruby you gotta start liftin' your head up, Ruby, I know it's hard but you gotta get outta bed" serms like symptoms of depression. Having your head down and not wanting to get up and face the depressing day.
No. I mean listen carefully. His voice sounds 5-10% slow and/or down pitched. The drums sound deeper than the whole of Torches and the piano doesn't sound naturally like that. It seems as though the leaked version (which is this by the way) was tampered with to make it hit the same notes as how they did it live. If you open it in an audio program and speed it up it sounds more natural. The vinyl version doesn't have this though.
