This is an introduction to Ruby FPV system, what it is, major functionalities and how to set up your own Ruby system.
Ruby is a complete software and hardware system that allows you to control drones, planes, cars, UAVs and get live video feed and telemetry to your controller.
It does support major radio bands: 433, 868, 915 Mhz and 2.4, 5.8 Ghz;
It does support multiple redundant radio links; adaptive video; relaying.
For more information and to download Ruby, visit: rubyfpv.com/

This looks phenomenal! To echo another commenter; Ruby is pronounced as roo͞′bē. If you’re at all in the place to suggest a name change, Ruby is also a very popular programming language, where the term “ruby development” will never return results for this project.

He is himself the creator of this. so I think as a programmer, he probably in love with Ruby name. as he is the creator, we are imply to follow him, call it RUB BEE as him ;). And it is not Ruby on Rails. if I google RubyFPV it is showing up right the way.

Pretty cool. Glad to see something new available for use. I fly FPV racers but I can definitely see where this could be useful for other situations where latency isn’t important. Some people are very simple minded and just can’t think outside of their personal space.

I've been following this project for about a year. Friendly advice, the word "Ruby" is pronounced like "Rooby". It would be good to do a range comparison with the DJI googles. You would need to find the best, longest range USB radio board. This information (best longest range radio boards, and how it compares to DJI goggles) would be useful for customers since so many people use the DJI goggles.

Wow, great job... This looks really interesting... I started thinking about building a custom semi automated UAS and the 1st question that came to mind was: "What would I use for a control station?"...

Great Setup! I think you should just add that this is a exploration/Film drone and not a Race-Copter setup. Otherwise the Video Latency would be useless🤓 🖖

Homebrew. Nice job. Ethernet jack for the win! You should add a quick button to turn the OSD 100% on and 100% off... someone like me likes zero chartfunk anything obscuring our view while we are doing aerobatics. I mean absolutely nothing on screen... nothing. Nothing but the pure camera feed. I h8t3 goggles with a passion, so... very interesting solution. Give it military grade automatic anti-jamming frequency hopping capability, and I'll buy it and promote it.

Impressive ground station. Is Rubyfpv connected to OpenHD? They went one step further with OpenIPC, not needing the raspberry Pi anymore. Will ruby achieve that as well? How else does it compare to each other?
@petrusoroaga6528
@petrusoroaga6528 8 месяцев назад
It's not related to OpenHD. But yes, OpenIPC cameras can be used, so you don't need a Pi on your drone. Check the other video where OpenIPC camera is explained.

Very neat! I have a question about your cool controller. Did you take apart a standard RC transmitter to integrate it with your Pi / LCD? Any info what transmitter you started with or is there a video about it? Thanks.

What frequencies does the video transmit at? If at lower frequencies how does the quality/bitrate scale at the lower frequencies? Does it resend lost packets?

Very cool! 😎 How much latency is there in RC link and video link?
@petrusoroaga6528
@petrusoroaga6528 8 месяцев назад
RC Link is 10-100Hz set by the user. So 100 to 10 ms delay time. Video link latency varies by camera/pi/video bitrate, from 90 to 120ms.
@TouYubeTom

Looks like the latency is terrible and that is the most important specification for fpv pilots. If you arent in the 20ms-30ms latency range then scrap it and start from square 1.

Lol, he basically describes everything about redundancy, automatic control, encryptions, advanced menus, dual drone control with relay support and you're like "but I can't fly it fast enough". Man, that is OBVIOUSLY not the intended use case for this system, and latency is CLEARLY not the most important metric here. Although for what it is the latency is very good
