It's hilarious I got called a hater etc when I tried to point out this car wasn't near fast enough to run at WCF. When he first said they were taking Ruby there. For just pointing out the obvious and what many racers at or near this level already knew .To many people that comment just don't have a clue on what it takes to go this fast. Specially within a set of rules. "It's got a turbo and auto" " 7' are no problem now". Sorry it's just far from that simple. Plus many believe much of the bullshit people say when talking about what little is done to their cars when going fast. It doesn't get anymore expensive then class racing. Even in the slower classes you need to dig deep in them pockets if you want a shot at winning or in many cases just getting into the show.

@@kiyoponnn depends on the car and what the rules are. In many cases it can be difficult. When he goes to methanol it will remove over 100lbs off the car. Much of it from the nose of the car where it's needed most. Just the intercooler is about 25lbs give or take a few lbs depending on the size and thickness of the aluminum used. Many years ago I ran the vortech igloo mondo aftercooler. It's basically what's on Leroy and very old technology. We stopped using this way of cooling the air not long after we got it because of the heat from the motor made it less efficient. So we went to a seat mounted intercooler and even rear mount on a different car. It did a few things. It kept the air cooler the entire run, we could run a better lower intake and it moved weight of the nose. Not only do you have the weight of the intercooler itself but the weight of the water also. I ran a custom 8gal tank and the whole system was about 90lbs of water and ice. That includes the water in the 1 inch ID supply and return lines which is about 10lbs of water on it's own if rear mounted. (About 25ft total of tubing). So now you can see how easily it is to remove 100lbs+ by going to methanol. No intercooler at all is required then. You can run a much smaller cooling system or not one at all also. Which is even more weight of the nose. The nice advantage they gave manual rwd cars this year is no weight limit on them. Still going to be a hard class to win with a manual though.

@@tubba525 I'll bet Leroy could muscle his way into the 7.6s or even 7.5s if they can get the first half of the run dialed in. Aero would help up top, yes, but they could gain more at launch and in 1st & 2nd gear. Boost by speed to put more power down, dialing in the clutch and suspension to consistently run 1.2s or 1.1s in the 60", etc. The car's really not doing well there, and getting that to work would make more of a difference than a body kit.

A suspension video wouldn't satisfy the hype beast trend that has lead to countless videos chasing dyno numbers that they simply can't put down on the track . The constant promises of making the cars faster with "more boost" and "bigger turbos" just keeps hundreds of thousands of views rolling in , paying their wages. They're running a sub par suspension setup on a twisted salvage rear end , more power won't make leroy launch any better or be any less sketchy down the track but are we going to see a suspension and alignment video anytime soon ? Doubt it

@@bryceocain7508 yeah , it just seems that nobody is asking why Cleetus managed to go 7's with leroy with more consistant launches on a older tune on the previous shock setup. But can you imagine the uproar from subscribers if they turned power down to a level that the current chassis and suspension could handle and could be consistent with? The hype-hungry target demographic would be up in arms demanding 2000 horsepower hub dyno pulls that ultimately mean squat at the track since your power isn't bolted down to the tarmac.

DiAntonioC Thats a good way to make sure Leroy NEVER makes a good pass again. It’s bad karma to even mention “bogging” at a drag strip. Advertising it would be even worse. Paneling around the cockpit, a rear diffuser. Couple of small plates to help the high pressure areas. With virtual wind tunnels, you basically have a heat map of exactly where fixes need to go.

The frame is def bent - remember that Leroy was a salvage purchase just like Ruby. They've known it was torqued since day 1. All the more reason that should be addressed now.

In another video or two I could have sworn I saw the class restrictions stating a maximum engine of 7 liters or 427 cubes, Ruby is still using a 5.3, it's really no surprise the car can't keep up with the ones using 50% more motor than the car has.

The risk way outweighs the gain. Plus cooling does more than keep you from welding the pistons in the block. It helps you run consistent, predictable power pass after pass.

But methanol? I’ve heard burnout cars run it without water and are super cool still on the limiter for 2+ mins straight. I also think funny cars have been running on meth and no water for years. Just no more Drag Week, Rocky Mtn Race week on a meth set up.
