To think how difficult and technical this tap routine would have been done to perform. So many opportunities for a misstep. Truly a talented pair, doing the routine effortlessly.

What a treat! And Ruby's dance partner is Lee Dixon who would go on to star in the original Broadway cast of Oklahoma! in 1943 as Will Parker ("Everything's up to date in Kansas City....") Sadly, he died very young.
Her critics called her a triple threat - somebody who could neither sing nor dance nor act, but what she may have lacked in these departments she more than made up in her boundless enthusiasm and the way in which she gave 110% to every role she played. Nobody else, to my mind, better captures the myth of Hollywood, the way it is meant to be - 'Look at me, I made it, I'm having a ball.' The people loved you, Ruby, and we still love you to this day.
Look, kids (under 30). This is actually real. It's not a green screen. They actually built this. Called a set. And the people in the back? Those aren't drawings either! Probably hard to process, because it's in black and white, but give it a try. It's even better than a video game.
Reminds me of James Cagney's tap dance routine near the beginning of "Something to Sing About," also from 1937. The 30's were an incredible decade for movies. And yes, I agree Ruby Keeler was adorable.
May 25: National Tap Dance Day: Celebrates and promotes tap dancing as an art form; U.S. Congress designated this date to mark the birthday of Tap Dancer-Actor-Singer Bill "Bojangles" Robinson. Thank you and God bless. RIP. Thanks for the upload, What the Eye Hears. Blessings
Had Warners been smart, they could have rebranded Ruby Keeler and Lee Dixon as a comedy duo. Lee Dixon and Paul Draper really brought out the best in Ruby's dancing.
They are taping dancing on the keys - But this is Hollywood - the sound of the taps were most likely added later by a sound man. It doesn’t take away from their amazing abilities .
After the advent of sound cinema the musical genre was the most accepted by the public cinema of joy of inventive good songs at a time when depression reached everyone and where uncertain socio-political moments were present these musicals of the Warner Bros of the 1930s along with the musicals of the RKO with the couple Asterix Rogers were without a doubt the best musicals of Lada sound first cinematographic epoch and here we have a creative example in stelne this directed by Busby Berkeley this film by the great but anyway it has its cool cool spirit real cool that I most wanted in some current movies was well
