Crazy design...I bet the rotating mass of those motors throws off the driving characteristics...but the fact that they even attempted that back then is great! The Ford Capri body is super cool too.
Carrera was a german brand. I was born 1979 in Germany and my 1st RC car ever was a RTR Carrera Structo 1/12 Jeep Golden Eagle. 10 years ago I converted it to 2,4Ghz with a modern 9 EUR ESC from China and a 2s Lipo 500mAh because the old electronics were damaged. It drives quite well indoors (no suspension), is a really good looking scale model and has a special place in my heart 💘 I also bought a used BMW M1 (kit version) during the pandemic but sold it quickly as it was not fun driving it (degraded wobbly tires, noisiy drivetrain). My love for RC definintely started with a CARRERA STRUCTO RTR model 👍
Wow ❤️ this is one of the coolest ever ❣️ look at the awesome rims and then the dual motor set up. And Ford Capri, the car you always promised yourself ❤️ Rudd so nice of you to donate to Keith ❤️ I love this video and now I need one for myself 😂😂😂😂
Blown away... what a gorgeous kit! You've done a lovely job on the shell Ruud, looks stunning! 👍 A BMW M1 just sold a few days ago in The Netherlands when I just checked!
It is a sweet looking car and what a crazy and original design! It is really cool with the dual motor setup, especially in the front! Very cool gift and thanks for sharing as I have never seen or even heard of this one!
Awesome car. I even didn't know Carrera did Rc cars. This fouble motor setup's really cool and put lift it higher they set it on the wheels which steer. Saying front or rear would make me converting it into 4WD😁 Thanks for showing Keith
The Zak speed capri is so cool. I build the same model when i was a kid. It just a had a little motor you could put double AA'S in . Ive still got it in my garage. Will have to dig it out . Crazy motor setup 👍
Carrera is a German company and is, like you said, known for slot cars. But they also made the structo series of rc cars. But it was not limited to these 5 like you showed in the manual. They made a plethora of wild vehicles beginning in the early 70.
I love it! As a Capri enthuiast I have ofcourse noticed the Structo one. I don't own one, but I do own a 1:12 Dickie Zakspeed Capri, with same Mampe livery, which is rebranded of a Japan kit, which I has forgotten the brand of. My picture to the left is my real road going Ford Capri Mk3 which is a 78'. Same year as the first year of the Zakspeed Capri in Mampe livery. Btw many US folks belive you don' got the Ford Capri, but you did in Mk1 and Mk2 (70-74) (76+77) Those was sold in Lincoln-Mercury dealerships and was only named Capri, not Mercury Capri as many belives. Popular nickname is Federal Capri. They also had F O R D lettering on the hood lip, but no Ford oval in the rear. History class demissed for today lol. I also got the Tamiya Zakspeed Capri in Würth and Mampe livery and plan to do all the versions that MCI does decals for. My collection also have all the 3x 1:24 Tamiya Zakspeed Capri kits as well (Mampe 1979, D&W 2003 and Würth 2013) Aweesome gift for sure!
I'm pretty sure the Dickie Capri is a rebranded Taiyo. Taiyo probably made the best "toy"grade rcs to ever be produced. Also own a 1981 Capri 2.0S in burgundy red. But in the next few years I'm planning to strip it completely and rebuild it.
These Carrera Structo cars are cool unique! I have a completely original Transpo Diesel displayed in the glass cabinet together with my vintage Tamiya's. During the last few years there have been some BMW and Ford Capris for sale here in Norway, but I have to stick to Tamiya's 😅
I had a 1/24 scale Countach from structo as a kid. Had 2 130 motors. You could get a speed control and you had to add radio gear. I just built it as a static model
That is such an out there design. I am seriously wondering why they did it that way. Speaking of strange design decisions, I finally put my Tamiya Porsche 959 back together after cleaning and repair. Took me a couple of years though. It actually runs well, I'm a bit surprised.
That’s a wild car!! Never seen it or heard of anything like it before. I wonder how it would drive? I think it would do well with all that chassis flex. Any plans for a running video?
It's actually Ruud not Rudd. But I don't mind. Most English and American people that I know here in the Netherlands call me rude...lol. Or rudeboy. 😂 It's difficult to pronounce the double 'u' if that tone is not in your own language. 'uu' is pronounced as the German ü.
