Y'all are really doing the most and completely misinterpreted the question... 1. Timmy is not some weak little glass bird. He doesn't need to be handled with kid gloves. And I don't think the look on his face was sadness. I think it was concern because he wanted to make sure he was answering the question 2. Yes, the interviewer was tripping over his words/phrasing so his question was hard to understand, I'll give you that. But he wasn't saying Timmy has a big ego. He was actually saying the exact opposite. He was basically saying that it doesn't seem like Timmy is in it for the fame or the clout, that he doesn't make movies to feed his ego. 3. This is 30 seconds of like a half hour long interview. If any of you actually watched the whole thing you'd see that the interviewer had a lot of nice things to say to Timmy. In conclusion, everyone needs to chill
The question is basically "It seems like fame is not the driving force behind your career, would you agree?" - Which to any serious actor this would be a complimentary observation. Absolutely nothing wrong here except an interviewer garbling his words a little.
I'm a little late to this but you're so right. The interviewer isn't eloquent in the phrasing of his question whatsoever, but anyone that can understand English can tell that he is just trying to say that Timmy seems like an actor that is driven by his love for the art form rather than than things like fame, money, or success. It just in the nature of fangirls to nitpick and take things out of context. Timmy doesn't even look sad, his expression is literally one of confusion trying to figure out what the question is so he can answer appropriately.
Sir Jayden The Valiant Godzilla I mean, I get that everyone makes mistakes, but I feel like that’s a big mistake to make for someone who talks to people for a living.
Have you seen the entire interview? The guy isn't saying anything wrong to him because what he was saying was about the question que earlier asked to Timmy. They're showing this guy like a bad guy when actually there is nothing wrong. Acutally, Timmy was the one who answered wrong earlier.
Andrea Alviarez true but at the same time the interviewer should’ve been a little more considerate. even if he answered the question wrong, there’s probably a reason, whether that be that he didn’t feel comfortable or he honestly didn’t know. as an interviewer it’s important to notice these things. Also him saying stuff about whether or not he wants to be famous is in related to his ego, probably wasn’t the best move. Obviously you a lot of he time don’t have control over whether or not you’re famous, but you do have control over being successful, and there’s nothing wrong with wanting either of the two (if you want fame as an actor that’s fine, as long as you’re not becoming an actor for the sole reason of fame). While I do agree the video portrayed him in a totally different way (making the dude seem evil), his phrasing and interview skills were not the best at that moment.
@@Anonymous-qb8mb the interviewer says Tim is very reticent and private/introverted. And so he was working to pull complete answers from him and not let him hold back so much. They hung out after. Tim was fine. I'm sure it's nowhere near as bad as auditioning.
Jacob Peel he said “sorry if i-i get a little rambly” on his face you can tell he’s cringing, hinting he’s embarrassed which further proves he’s apologizing for his own behavior
Stxr KillerX Being an interviewer is not that complex of a job. It doesn’t take hours of clips to tell if they are good or not. An interviewer’s job is too make the guest comfortable while answering questions. Not attack them like you have some personal issue with them.💀
I don't get the hate at all - as I understand it, he's saying that Timothee isn't primarily in this because he wants to be famous or boost his ego, but out of love for the craft. Which is a good thing!
@@astoldbynickgerr Some people always assume the worst without thinking, how many actually watched the video properly, or the full interview? And many people are just looking for a reason to complain...
I really don't understand what's going on here. Everybody is so mad at the interviewer, but he was giving a compliment and Timothee even recognized the compliment. I suppose nobody listened to what the interviewer actually said?
Guys! Y'all need to chill!! Whoever made this video took it out of context and changed the whole meaning. This is a really good and very respectful, genuine, kind interviewer and what he actually said was, that to him it seemed obvious that this path that Timothée took and became successful wasn't because he longed for fame or anything shallow. He made clear that the whole fame thing is about the ego and Timothée is not at all about that and he is not interested in that, but that his ambitions and his craft come from an honest place. You all should have watched the original video. And whoever took this excerpt should be ashamed, that he spreaded this kind of false information and negativity. Sorry if I made mistakes, english isn't my mother tongue.
??? the interviewer is actually being nice, he’s suggesting that he’s not in it for fame or clout, that that’s not what fulfills him, that he’s in it because he loves what he does.
@@pocketNinjaGameing well actually he said 'it doesn't feel like' getting famous is his goal, and was kind of asking what his goal is with his career, which is fine
The fangirls who are saying they would have cried if they were him need to chill down because you must be excessively sensitive to cry from a compliment. You guys have to stop taking things out of context and stop giving the interviewer hate just from a 30 second clip oml. And if Timothee were actually insulted, he’s a grown man and can take care of himself. He doesn’t need an army of girls to defend him.
indeed! I don't think the interviewer said anything out of life. In fact I think he understand where Tomothee is coming from and just wanted to be level headed with him. Just because he mentioned the word "Ego" does not mean he meant in a negative connotation... we all have egos. Like you said it's just a matter of context.
Lia P the clip is out of context. The way he worded the question was also weird but he wasn’t saying he had an ego he was trying to ask what he wanted to accomplish after becoming famous. (Essentially implying that Timmy doesn’t seem like the type of person to only be motivated by fame)
Wow, talk about out of context. This interview was one of the best ones with Timothee out there, he had a good rapport with the host, and the talk before this was in the context of Timothee not being the type who wants fame.
I JUST called someone deranged and scrolled down and saw ur comment. This is hilarious. But yea no, it's irritating asf that ppl can't simply sit and actually listen to understand. And not let the tile shape their entire perception. Ugh.
y’all are so- the interviewer wasn’t trying to be rude. sometimes your words don’t come out the way you want them to, or the way you planned. you guys treat timothée like a porcelain doll. anything that seems “bad” or “rude” when it isn’t.. it sets you guys off. timothée isn’t a child. he can speak up for himself if something does seem rude, or brush it off. what the interviewer said wasn’t rude, his words weren’t just in the right order. this is literally a 30 second clip. there is nothing to judge here, at all. the interviewer fucked up his words a little bit, but he wasn’t rude. you guys reach for the fucking most, honestly. stop treating timmy like he’s a damn child.
Literally it's SO annoying 🙁 they can't sit and listen to the interviewer. It's like the title chose their perception and they entirely let it. And the "aw poor baby" comments...omg🤚🏾
Guys! That interviewer is actually a sweet dude and him and Tim get along and did some other interviews later. I feel that he just didn't know what he wanted to ask him or how to phrase it properly and that's why Tim looked super confused lol
does anyone know what he said in he beginning? I can’t hear him over the interviewer he said “i’m sorry you got a little ..” but i don’t know what he said
The interviewer worded everything wrong but he's not insulting or attacking Timmy. He's saying Timmy doesn't seem to have a big ego and that's a compliment actually.
He’s a grown man being asked a tough question that has a complimentary observation within it. If this is hurtful then you need to seek therapy because there is something wrong with you, not the interviewer.
I think some of y’all heard “it’s about your ego” and thought the worst..All the interviewer was trying to say,in the most incoherent way possible,is that it doesn’t seem like TC is in showbiz for the fame but more the art of it….that’s a good thing
This interviewer (David Poland) is great and has done so many amazing interviews. I've learnt so much more about actors from his interviewing style, it's just stripped back, pretty long, unedited, and non-structured. His interview with Toni Collette is a great example. His interview with Timothèe was totally respectful and this clip is taken out of context, he was just trying to clarify a question and a point that had been misinterpreted.
for those who don't watch dp/30. he is one of the best and professional interviewers on the planet. if you think this is bad then you don't know what is a bad interview.
This out of context clip and y’all’s fangirl reactions shows that you don’t actually care for Timothée as an actor and only care about him because you like the way he looks. It’s fine to enjoy an actor on pure aesthetics but treating him like an incompetent child when he’s a well established actor with a solid breadth of work is 😬 some K-pop girl shit. Anyone involved in film knows DP/30 is a fantastic interviewer.
here’s about what the interviewer said leading up to this: “so it sounds like being a celebrity isn’t a large part of your mindset or your interest in all of this.” timothee talks abt some stuff “but the idea of being a celebrity, of being loved in that way, of people looking at you in streets, is that attractive to you?” to be honest, after seeing the interaction that led up to exchange, i don’t think that the interviewer was being particularly rude. A little pushy maybe, but nothing to get extremely upset about. i think timothee just looked distraught because he was maybe worried that he’d messed up the question.
The interviewer was saying that he thinks Timothee doesn't want to be famous. He's implying that Timothee cares more about what he creates, as opposed to what he gets out of what he's created.
Timmy's so shy and the sweetest person ever but this interveiwer is putting so much pressure on him and being so rude. I've never disliked a person more
You really took the question out of proportion and transformed it into something else because of the lack of context. The interviewer actually meant that Timmy's career isn't funded on his fame and that he hasn't a big ego, which is one of the best compliments you can give an actor. The interviewer fumbled over their words, but the message was crystal clear. And if you guys actually watched the entirety of the interview, you would see that they had a lot of nice things to tell Timmy
just want to say.. a) this was taken completely out of context b) timothee rlly didn’t answer the question c) it does come off a bit rude but that wasn’t how it seemed in the full interview d) the interviewer really just seemed to be unable to word things properly and there was confusion on both sides
The interviewer was simply stating that he feels Timothee doesn’t seem the type to eat up the fame or have an ego but the actors ego got in the way so the interviewer wasn’t exactly wrong.
if you watch the full interview you realise the dynamic between the two and the interviewer isnt rude hes just very insightful. But i really liked this interview i think it shows timothee just having a conversation about his passion in films
We have to hear more of the interview; even Timothee seems perplexed and his body language, he doesn't know really how to respond and then retreats back into the chair. The guy really is modest and not riding on of looking for fame if that is what the interviewer is expressing
the interview just said that he seems like the type of guy that doesn’t care if he’s famous (which is probably him giving him a compliment), and the actor was answering normally, y’all making something out of nothing 🤣
Can we take a minute to appreciate how timothee listened to everything the guy said and then responded so politely. One of the most sweet and real actors out there 🥰
Honestly the comments are WAY more sensitive than this scenario and protecting Timothy like he’s a child. I feel like 99% of of y’all have no idea what the interviewer said. He literally gave him an off-handed compliment and was asking a simple, general question. And it was a good one too.
The title of this video should be "The consequences of miscommunication in a nutshell" 😂 Dude was trying to compliment Timothee by saying that he isn't shallow/egotistical and that he seems to care more about the quality of his work than being famous. The way it comes out of his mouth somehow sounds like the opposite, it sounds like he is saying that Timothee won't have a long lasting career. I honestly almost feel bad for the interviewer, he should brush up on his conversational skills a little bit.
That interviewer is in the wrong business. What an asshole. He actually says “you didn’t actually answer the question but that’s alright” and that’s what starts this video off.
