Nice! I am too and wish you luck-my advice is listen to other Montuno pieces or a person playing the Montuno style and kind of copy the patterns, and that way you could avoid the sheet music because it can be hard

Do you have any tips on transcribing the alto sax solo we are playing this for our winter concert and I’m doing the solo and I really like this one but I’ve never transcribed before

1. Listen to the solo a lot, over and over. 2. Try to sing a long with it (this helps to internalize the phrases) 3. Try to figure out as many notes as you can - almost all of them are in the D Major scale on alto 4. Whatever you can find, fill it in using your instincts. ** Definitely slowing down the playback speed on RU-vid could help. Good luck! (p.s. I'm the guy who played the alto solo on the recording...I also wrote the arrangement 🙂
