This Roger Bellon composition takes THE SHEIK (1921) to a whole new level of mystique and romance that enhances Rudolph Valentino's performance. Starring Rudolph Valentino, Agnes Ayres, Adolphe Menjou, and Walter Long.
No doubt this is FANTASTIC but THE SON OF THE SHEIK, with Valentino playing both father and son, is THE BEST as it refines and defines this, the first one. The Son of the Sheik is truly spectacular!!!
Gay. (I mean, Valentio, not your comment--LOL!) // UPDATE: I just researched. He was married to a woman most of his life! So much for wishful thinking!
You know as MANY x I've watched this ..&;his other awesome films it strikes me just how GOOD of an actor he was ....he was sooo manly " oh Gosh I'm need smelling salts
"For the fist time she had met a man who had failed to bow to her wishes, whom a look has been powerless to transform into a willing slave. In a few hours that had elapsed she had learned fear, a terrible fear that left her sick with apprehension, and she was learning obedience. Obedient now, she forced herself to lift her eyes to his, and the shamed blood surged slowly into her cheeks. His dark passionate eyes burnt into her like a hot flame. His encircling arms were like bands of fire, scorching her. His touch was torture. "Helpless, like a trapped wild thing, she lay against him, panting, trembling, her wide eyes fixed on him, held against their will. Fascinated she could not turn them away and the image of the brown handsome face with its flashing eyes, straight cruel mouth and strong chin seemed seared into her brain. The faint indefinite scent of an uncommon Turkish tobacco clung about him, enveloping her. She had been conscious of the same scent the previous day when he had held her in his arms during the wild ride across the desert." -The Sheik by E.M. Hull
@Barbara Shernoff The book isn't as graphic as contemporary harlequin romance novels but it can be startling. I can see why the book would have been considered scandalous by 1920's standards! The biggest change I noticed is Ahmed's restrained behavior in the film; whereas in the book Ahmed is more arrogant and dominating. I don't think Valentino as Ahmed would have been as iconic/desirable if he came across as more of a brute on screen. As for Diane, I'm glad the book fleshed her character out a bit. We learn that she was an orphan raised by her brother (19 years older) and he couldn't be bothered by going out of his way for her so he raised her in a harsh Spartan lifestyle.
Oh my GOSH!! Is this anexert fr the book??!!!!!......oh im SWOONING!!!! Hey!! Just ordered it fr Barnes & Noble booksellars in my town here.simple thr shipping 2 my house ..!!! Cant wait to get it ....thank you soo much Rose

Thanks again Jean. But thenn it " fades" into a dreamlike scene where Zilah is asleep on floor beside her ..then She looks and sees his cigarette. ..i dont understand.... someone explain please
If only his last words in this movie. We're true. Why Rudy was dying in real life. " The Darkness has passed and now the sunshine. If only Rudy did not die that day long ago. It's nearly one hundred years ago that he died. I think 1926. That must have been a horrible sad day for the world. Just thinking about it makes me cry
@@karenhill3970 became medical technology was not as advanced as it was back then, like it is now. Really is horrible sad. Just like Bobby Darin. Same for his medical crisis back then. In the late 1950's or 1960's. I don't remember when Bobby died. Do a search for Bobby Darin. You will read what his cause of death was
Calling all Valentino fans. If you haven't already done so, please read his book of poetry or observations-"Day Dreams. " It is simply a lovely written work by the one and only, Rodolfo Pietro Filliberto Raffello Gugliemi d'Valentina d'anguello! 😊
Very good soundtrack! With all due respect the organ accompaniment puts me to sleep and makes me think of funerals! Rudolf Valentino is beyond beautiful! I think with coaching he probably would have done fine in sound movies, perhaps in supporting roles, but great nonetheless!
@@jeanbaumgartner4052 I just wanted to tell you in case you don't know if you go to SILVER CLASSICS IN COLOUR they have THE SHIEK IN COLOUR AND ALSO THE EAGLE AND THE SON OF THE SHIEK WENT INTO PUBLIC DOMAIN IN JANUARY SO I'M WAITING FOR THAT ONE TO DROP ITS JUNE AND STILL WAITING HOPEFULLY SOON🥰🇬🇧.
UPSIDE: Fantastic clarity! DOWNSIDE: Poor punctuation and spelling on the cards. UPSIDE: Added scenes. Yay! DOWNSIDE: "Beautiful Dreamer"? I don't think so! The original lyrics were actually recorded by Valentino. His spoken voice was never recorded, but his singing was quite decent.
@@mysilentboyfriend365, I'm not faulting the soundtrack at all. I'm just saying that using the lyrics to "Beautiful Dreamer" was a mistake that could have been avoided. The original lyrics were quite suitable.
@@BaronessErsatz Especially since there is actually the voice of Rudy singing the Kashmri Love Song....the poem was quoted in the book and the film....
@@jeanbaumgartner4052why didRudy shake his head " no" to Man in white turbin? When other girl walking out ...the last part of first scene ..!??...is it bc they were trying to get him(; Rudy) to choose a woman?
Why can't I find a copy on RU-vid of the movie with the original soundtrack? All these added soundtracks are just terrible. None of them are anything like the original.
A este actor lo que querían los envidiosos era humillar su masculinidad, es fácil hundir a un actor de esa manera, una pena 🙁, fue el primer galán y tenía una linda sonrisa encantador...
