So I waited until I got him in real close and then took him for a ride and wanted to find out what he was made of! Little did I know, Daniel was a 4 time world champion in competitive Ring around the Rosie, so unfortunately I was toppled today, but I spit on him a couple times so it wasn't a complete loss. @@nathanr.8556 yes I will defend this family in every sense, and I haven't seen too many people commenting on he almost broke his neck, that's crazy, he wouldn't have broken his neck!!!! I watched very carefully, and Daniel had Rufus in control of this!! Maybe not at first, but Daniel had to get him under control pretty fast cause Rufus wasn't having it at all, he did a fine job!!
Call a farrier, for any kind of hoof problem, alpacas, llamas, oxen, mini horses, and donkeys,mules, or horses, it's safest for the critter and for you!
I love the little sounds they make. They are cute! Rufus is a little tuff. Daniel don't feel bad about calling them by the wrong names. I had 5 brothers and 2 sisters and they all called me by their children's names! Or their wife's name!
I've seen my share of high school and college wrestling matches. I was impressed with Daniel's takedown of Rufus. Smart move also of keeping Rufus separated from his ladies. You get an A+ today...good job!!
That is so interesting! I had no idea that Alpacas had toe nails and the skin under their hoofs are soft. Learn something new everyday! So fun watching you with your animals.

Daniel, you and Deejay are the perfect alpaca parents. The tone of voice and your calm nature with them really helps to get them to calm down (the girls anyways, lol). It is true, the more contact you have with them, the better they'll be. Friends of ours have alpacas and the young ones, especially those born on their acreage, are almost like dogs. They'll come up and literally lean into you (like Bear does) and want you to scratch them. I have to say, that picture of Lucy at 14:02 just melts my heart. She's a cutey pie! xo Heather🇨🇦
The loss of hair on alpacas noses can be a mineral deficiency. Buy some Zinc Oxide cream and put it on the bare spots. Do it once a day until you see it improve. If they have had the condition for years they may actually have formed a leather like surface that may never grow hair as the follicles have been damaged. Rufus is a pill. You did a nice job on the nail trimming. A gentle hand on their shoulders sometimes helps to calm them. Once again, nice job.

😂😂😂 This was hilarious Daniel!!! Made my day. I had 16 Alpacas a few yrs back... I have more memories of them (a few of them) throwing my husband around😂😂🥰 They do get better if they are handled often. I use to have a chair out near the barn and they would come sniff me and lay by me. Some give kisses. They are a very special therapeutic animal. The babies are precious, being handled from the beginning they will be more friendly!! Great videos, thanks again❤❤❤

@@egagnon9994 oh please. He had his arm around his neck to make sure they were both safe from head butt's causing injuries. He wasn't scared he was mad. He didn't want him to mess with his feet! He was perfectly fine.

When I was an FFA we used to trim the hooves of cattle. We had a table that was vertical we would bring the animal alongside strap them to the table and then flip the table horizontal and then work with her hooves from there.
I used a milking station for a goat I just put stronger boards on the sides and in the front the sideboard so he won't fall off and added straps for the front in the back of the animal so they won't move that much and since I had bad back problems so I could do this chore
Oh my goodness!! When you wrestled with Rufus I couldn't help myself but laugh and it was half past midnight with my hubby sleeping like a baby next to me! There was no way I could stop and then the icing on the cake was when your wife, the 'owner' of said donkey-doodle, was hit in the mouth with a flying piece of muddy toe nail in the mouth. Sorry DJ, I had to laugh. Awesome job trimming their nails Daniel!

I just want to tell you that I have been watching you and following your gardening advice for the last 2 years and have gain so much from all you wisdom.....But today I was brimming myself for the fall and winter here in Bend. SMOKE and all.... But what I can across was your farewell to your Hwy family. Your decision to leave was heart wrenching. I know that you were listening to our Heavenly Father's words. You have a beautiful wife and children and they are so much your priority. That is what should be. You have given so much to your community with your protective service and now this beautiful family of your needs you. I am 82 and live with my daughter. She is the mother of two College kids that are on scholarships....on hold to back to school. For myself, I love my yard and gardening. Since I have moved to her 3/4 of an acre I have taken up the vegetable garden and that's where you have come in. Love, love your presentation and the fact that the animals and kids come in the videos. Thank you for your wisdom young man and keep up your love of what your passion is. Just watched Boise D’Arc’s video - he was a using a goat chute - goats go through and they are put on their side. Another one to watch is Blue Cactus Dairy Goats- she has a nice herd and she uses a milking stand. She also gives them a treat while on the stand so they go willingly for a treat.
I get a giggle watching your "donkey poodles" when they walk from behind...especially the brown ones...they put me of toddlers walking in blanket sleepers...lol Got a good laugh at Rufus and Daniel doing the " Alpaca Square Dance" Dosey-doe. Lol

When we work with our alpaca and llama it ALWAYS is interesting and if we were able to get anyone to help us, they always walk away with a neat memory burned into their mind!

I was laying in the bed watching You Tube. My husband is asleep. It was all I could manage not to laugh loudly. That was so funny when Daniel grabbed Rufus by the neck and gritted his teeth. Then Rufus went nuts. I was thinking Rufus just might win. Then a piece of hoof flew the wrong way. Lmao quietly!!! Then when Big Mac came to check out the action, Rufus just kept spitting at him and hitting parts of Daniel. I laughed some more. This video was the funniest ever. Loved it!
