Ever since rugby turned professional after the 95 Rugby World Cup, a rugby salary was never considered to be one of the top earning sports salaries out there.
Rugby earnings in particular, have never compared to the likes of the NFL, Baseball, basketball and football.
And for the amount of battering that these rugby players put their bodies through on a weekly basis to entertain their fans on weekends, it’s a sad truth to grasp that a rugby players salary is still near the bottom of the sporting food chain, for various reasons which we won’t get into right now.
The earnings of rugby players have however, over the years, started to look more and more attractive and some of the top earning rugby players in the world, are making more than a generous living out of the game they love.
