ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-f-zv8m0LYeU.html This is a Penn State University game (one of the schools on this video) they have a home game every year, usually against one of the biggest rivals, that they dub the "white out". Without the broadcaster commentary in this video, you can really hear how electric the atmosphere is. (For context this is a school located in a town called "state college" because its literally what the whole town is built around.)

Nobody has mentioned it yet so I will. These games are usually all day events. We tailgate before the games, which basicly means drinking, cooking and eating food, drinking, playing some lawn/drinking games, catch up with old friends, make new friends, and more drinking. The earliest games start at 11:00 AM, when I was in college we called this the "Eggs and Kegs" tailgates, which started at 6:00 AM. You can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning.

Nice reaction; we love to see non-Americans react to football, especially college football. You mentioned being amazed at the size of the crowds. The stadiums in this video have capacities of 60,000+ - 100,000+ people, and they are packed like this for every home game. The last stadium shown (Michigan Stadium, aka The Big House) is the largest stadium in the U.S. and the third largest in the world.

I mentioned this in my own comment, but something to add... the crowd at Michigan Stadium has not dropped below 100k (in a town with an official population of about 123k today) since 11/75. I used to live a few blocks away, and on a game Saturday, I could see a van with a police escort driving the refs to the stadium, but other than that, it was an impassable road with people walking to the stadium for at least 3 hours before kick-off... the scale is just kind of nuts.

@@jonograhamreacts Yes! Even though this is accurate, that it's the greater "community" of the given university that brings the fans together, it is also a purposefully open party, including the game. Except while the game is played, then there are clear lines of demarcation. Example: I live in Iowa City, where the University of Iowa is located. We have rivalries every year, and among them, are the University of Wisconsin and the University of Nebraska. When these opposing fans come here, most know how to be good guests and there are many relationship ties, because the states border each other, so we have bunch of Badgers and Cornhuskers come into our tailgate area and do shots with us. This town is literally turned black and gold and sprinkled in the sea of black and gold will be bright red and white colors that obviously stand out. My point is, although the game is important, it's the coming together of the community and the sharing of the day that keeps people gettinig up at 3:00 AM on game day and driving 2-3 hours to set up in shitty weather for a game that may or may not be exciting or even good. Even teams with losing records in the Big Ten (and SEC) go into every game day ready to rock and roll, at least until kickoff. Whereever you decide to partake in a college game-day experience, you are going to be welcome and some sort of beverage will be pushed into your hand at every tailgate.

Just to add.... that last team is University of Michigan. It is the biggest stadium in the United States.... technically, 107k capacity, been filled up to 114,804 as its record; but never had less that 100k people at a game since November 1975. There are 2 larger stadiums in the world, one in India and one in North Korea, but the crowd is insane - I used to live a few blocks from there, and no car could drive down my street because of the people walking to it for at least 3 hours before a game.... And to note, this is a small town with 123k population... but they get 110k filling the stadium 6-7 times each fall to cheer on the team.

The Army-Navy pregame ceremony is a different kind of awe-inspiring. Among other things, the schools conduct a "prisoner of war exchange" so that students attending classes at the rival school can reunite with their fellow soldiers or sailors. All of the students are preparing to serve as commissioned military officers, and everything reflects that reality.

The second entrance, Florida State, is a sign of respect to the Seminole Tribe of Florida. The real tribe has given Florida State permission to represent them on the football field. The horse's name is Renegade, and his rider is Osceola (ah-see-oh-la). He is named after Chief Osceola, whom led the Seminoles into battle against the Americans during the 19th Century, when they were trying to move Native American people out of the region and to reservations out west. Before every home game, Osceola is dressed in authentic Seminole clothing and face painting. He mounts Renegade and leads the Seminoles into "battle" against the opposing team by planting the flaming spear at midfield. In my opinion, this is without a doubt the best college tradition in the country.

The reason they can do this and so many other teams have gotten flack for this is because FSU pays them for the licensing of their tribe. The reason college football became so large in the US is the size of the country. In many places, especially in the West of the US, the distances between major cities with NFL teams was too large. Most people lived in areas where they simply couldn't make an easy day trip to a major professional ball stadium. But we still love our sports, and every area has a major college or university nearby. So out West, college sports became more popular attendance-wise than pro games, simply because you could make a trip to your local college and back without having to waste vacation time off work or the expense of long-distance travel and lodgings. Over time, the colleges saw the numbers and had to build larger and larger stadiums to handle the fans, and US College Football took its place alongside professional football for having major crowd followings and needing superstar stadiums. And here we are today.

You're all backwards. College is where the game was invented. Most major college football teams have been playing since the 1800's when it was "the old game". All of the pre war names are college names. The first big pro name is red grange (galloping ghost). Jim Thorpe maybe but he was also a multiple medalist olympian. This is all on Google. Thank You for sharing the video. I enjoyed the football as always but your reaction as well. I prefer college football to professional football. College spirit is huge in the US. I am from the midwest, about 1.5 hours from Chicago. I live in Milwaukee Wisconsin which is known for its beer. So much goes into a day of football. I see it already mentioned the tailgating which shows the spirit held. I live right behind the Milwaukee Brewers (baseball). The Brewers are so loved that even if the game that day is not held here they still tailgate just to listen to the game and party together, cooking out, drining beer and being together. I just wanted to say i have been to Africia twice and loved it (Mambasa, Kenya)

It never makes the lists in these reaction videos because the crowds aren’t the biggest or loudest, but the Army Navy game always gets overlooked. It’s the last game of the regular season, and often the last time many of the players will put on the football uniform.

I remember watching the game from the first clip bc i had nothing better to do. I saw the intro and it gave me chills. They were underdogs on their home turf and came out on top against their rival. These epic entrances are typically between rival schools and are on a prime time tv window. If you want that full effect, find out which prime time rivalry game to watch. Night games are my favorite.

No matter what game you end up going to, make it a point to figure out where the student section of the stadium is, and get a seat as close to that as possible. That is ALWAYS the rowdiest part of the crowd at any college stadium. I am biased (Big 10 country here), but I highly recommend a game at one of these 4 stadiums: Ohio State, Michigan, Iowa, and Penn State There are other great atmospheres, to be sure, but these are some of the most awesome ones in the country. Ohio State and Michigan are always over 100k fans. Penn State's "Whiteout" game is a sight to behold on TV, so I can just imagine what it's like in person. And Iowa has, by far, the coolest (and most recently developed) tradition in the entirety of college football... There is a children's hospital that overlooks Kinnick Stadium, and before kickoff, the entire stadium looks and waves at the kids for several seconds.

everyone from overseas always thinks that they want to go to a college football game but the common thread for all of these stadiums is that theyre in the middle of nowhere. clemson sc, state collge pa, ann arbor mi, etc. people travel from a days drive away because theres seldom a decent airport nearby. you have to dedicate an entire weekend to the logistics of going to a game and the cost is immense. the big cities that international tourists want to travel to (new york, la, miami) tend to have less support for their local college teams and less real estate for a giant college stadium.

University of Tennessee Volunteers has been voted best venue, best entrance, best traditions and best atmosphere in all of college football multiple times. With a storied stadium seating over 102.000 fans and a stadium sitting on the banks of the Tennessee river itself with the VOL NAVY yachts & party boats lined up on the river beside the stadium and hundreds upon hundreds of RV's and cars, vans, trucks, and cars hosting "tailgate parties all around the stadium and campus....the "VOL WALK", "RUNNING THRU THE T", and the huge "Pride of the Southland Marching Band" leading the way, it blows away aall the others you presented in this video!!! LOL, unless you have been to a big college football game, you ain't living. The atmosphere is literally electric and you can feel it, for real. These stadiums are massive compared to what you all get, and this happens literally 60 times every Saturday during the season as there are over 100 teams. Also, like Tyler Whitworth said, these are usually "all day" events. The absolute best times money can buy, it's just so much fun. The drinking part can get insane, lol. Oh whoa is me who woke up Sunday morning not remembering Saturday, lol.

Rivalry games in college have a whole other breed of competitiveness that some say exceeds the pro league/NFL. The marching band and student section give it a more raw and real emotion versus a bunch of adults sipping $15 beers as a social event lol. I’ve been to a Michigan/Michigan State rivalry game and it’s ELECTRIC. Now if one team stinks, it may hurt attendance. Nobody likes a blowout unless it’s your team dominating. But most of those games are the “gotta see” ones.

We are Philadelphia Eagles season ticket holders meaning we have the rights to the same two seats in the stadium for every game every year as long as we own them. Unfortunately, we haven't been to a game in 4 years because we relocated across the country and Covid and some professional responsibilities got in our way from making it to any home games, but we hope to go next year. These are NFL (National Football League) games which are not affiliated with college football. But the games are unreal and we love them. We even have the blue angels do a fly over at the start of some of our games. Can't wait to get back into our routine of attending several games a year.

The SEC (South Eastern Conference) is the best. There's nothing like a game at Tiger Stadium at LSU, especially at night. They don't bring the live tiger to the game anymore, he just hangs out in his multimillion dollar enclosure outside the stadium. The little dude in the front of the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame is now the coach at LSU. The coaches make millions of dollars each year. That's how big college football is. LSU's stadium seats over 102.000 people.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it because 457 comments is a lot to read through but the Penn State White Out game is typically the premier game of the season for Penn State. Usually saved for the game against Ohio State, Michigan, or Michigan State depending on which team they play at home that season and it's only one for one game.
@cjgazerro622

The game, ZEZE you got four downs to get 10 yards to get another first down. On any play, you can score a touchdown which is six points and the extra point kick is one point totaling seven. If you get close enough to the goal post on fourth down you kick a field goal for three points but you can get a first down on first down. You can get a first down on second down or you can get a first down on fourth down if you want to take the chance, but if you don’t make it on fourth down, the other team gets the balls the bottom line is you have up to four downs to get 10 yards to get a new first down so you can keep moving the ball and the defense tries to stop you short of them 10 yards so you have to punt the ball away to their office and then they try the same sequence now the defense can cause you to drop the ball or fumble it and they get it back for their all fence or the defense can intercept a pass and they get the ball back for their office with the goal of trying to score a touchdown or if you get close enough and cannot score a touchdown to get a three point field goal which is kicking it through the orange I mean the yellow uprights. You do that for three points from far away or after a touchdown for the PAT point after touchdown which is one point but that’s close to the goal post.
