With his size and speed would've made a dope returner but his up right running style (rugby guys tend to run normally) would've got him killed with the niners committing to running alot of duo in gun and iso under center
@@pablomartinez8748 No, safeties usually dont get a lot of tackles actually. Unless its Budda baker, Jamal adams, or someone used as a run stopper, they usually play coverage. Youd preferably not like your safeties to be getting a lot of tackles too.
The volume numbers don’t tell the full story about Bosa’s dominance. You’d have to look into deeper analytics but his place is well deserved on this list for sure. Keep up the good work man! Always happy to see your vids come out.
I’ve seen you before but I never thought to subscribe until now sorry it took me a while now I’m going to watch all of the playlists of your NFL Content keep it up. Also I’m a huge Niners fan because of my dad and Nick Bosa and George Kittle are my two favorite players on the team along with Brandon Aiyuk as well.
He was a 4-year starter in high school. That's unusual anywhere, but especially surprising in a hotbed state like Florida. American kids are usually 14 when they start high school. At that age, he was playing against opposition, many of whom would be playing against college competition within a year's time. When one thinks of the physical development that occurs in a typical person between the ages of 14 and 18, that's quite remarkable. FYI: a few states are noted for producing huge numbers of talented football players. Florida, Texas, and California lead that list. Bit of trivia: more NFL players claim Louisiana as their home state than anyplace else in the country. However, per capita, American Samoa produces more NFL players than any U.S. state or territory. One American Samoan man in 1000 is signed to an NFL roster.
Great video! I live in the Bay Area and attended training camp Bosa’s rookie season. Had season tickets for the first few years at Levi’s Stadium. He is a beast in person! Niners! Kittle is the nicest guy around! Great times at Levi’s stadium. Would have loved to see it work out for Hayne! He brought something to the game you just don’t see! That toughness Rugby 🏉 gives you!
Defensive End in the NFL is generally considered a strength and speed position. With many considered pass rushing specialists. The stat you want to track is quarterback sacks. They tend to peak early and quickly fall off once they get close to thirty.
Lifelong 49ers fan here. I actually loved Hayne and he ran with really good vision. I think his one issue was he couldn't run low to the ground which is integral for a RB. Would of definitely loved to see him play for longer though.
Thing with Bosa is that he is a pressure monster. To put it into perspective in the last 2 seasons, frank clark and Bosa are tied for most post season pressures. Bosa played one. Clark played 2 post seasons.
On the tackle totals, DE's don't typically lead in tackles. Line backers and Safeties will typically have the most. They are on the field for almost 100% of the defensive snaps, and they rally to the ball on pretty much every play. Defensive Ends are often cycled into and out of the game to keep them fresh for pass rush, and they are out of the play for the most part once the pass is thrown or when the run play goes away from them. So 40+ tackles for a DE is quite good.
Never should have gotten rid of Jarryd Hayne! That guy was a beast!! Jacob... you almost look like Nick Bosa. You should do a video on George Kittle. THat guy just loves the game. He's hard working, the Top Tight End in the NFL, and loves to joke around to help his teammates relax and play better.
I remember he was pretty exciting in the pre-season returning kicks, unfortunately that’s one of the dark years where the entire 49ers roster was falling apart so 2015-2016 don’t have the best memories for 49ers fans
i actually liked jarryd hayne. good speed, physical runner, just feel like he didn't get enough of a chance for whatever reason. would've liked to see more of him
D lineman don’t usually lead in tackles because their jobs are mainly to get sacks or clog holes to make it easier for the linebacker to make the tackle.
You've gotta consider positions. The top tackles are linebackers, it's their job. In the run game, defensive line's job is to occupy blocked are force backs toward the linebackers. Key states for edge rushers (like Bosa) are sacks, hurries, and QB hits. He oy had 9 sack on the year but he had a lot of near misses. He's a beast.
I liked Jarryd Hayne a lot the short time we had him, he was pretty explosive when he had the ball and made some pretty good plays although I wish he wouldve had more opportunities with the ball and plays with called for him but it was fun having him but from what I understand he went back to playing rugby where he was a beast! so cant hate on that choice at all! Cheers from a niner faithful
Hayne definitely had great physical talent. He showed some good ability as a return man. His problem was his inexperience. Had he grown up in the US, he probably would have been a good NFL player.
Jeyrod Hayne was a freaking baller and he was really elusive. I don’t think they used him enough and thought he had a lot more upside if they had given him more playing time. Nice little highlight reel he put together but just had to get better about the fumbles
I would have liked to see Hayne get more of a shot. He was an amazing athlete with some unique moves. There is a difference in running philosophy between sports and I think he would have benefitted from being brought along slowly on the practice squad. I can see putting special plays for him utilizing his ability to pitch. As far as Bosa's numbers, linemen don't make as many tackles as linebackers as a general rule. Most schemes call for D linemen to keep the linebackers free from the O-line so they can roam freely to make plays. In the 49ers scheme he is usually playing in a Wide 9 putting the defensive ends further out than normal so they can get a few steps before contact and forces the guard to play wide giving the defensive player an option to go inside. His responsibility was often to seal the edge as he has no help from the outside linebacker. His ability to take up two men and still make plays makes him special.
He showed glimpses of becoming a good returner and special teamer. Wish they would if tried to develop him more. Hayne did make some big fumbles and miscues.
Thought Jared Haynes was a beast. Gave a heart of gold to do his job. I was sad when we let em walk. I feel niners never gave him a real shot on the field. When he did get on field he was a beast.
Churr bro ,been living in sf for 15 years.Hayne was ok but hugh change from rugby league he would be on the field for 10 secs then sit on the bench for 20 min and looked bored at time .as for Bosa total beast bro and we missed him this year with knee injury 😢😢
The hayne plane was dope. I think he came in at the wrong time. We were going through a carousel of coaches. I think he’d excel with the current coach/system. Minus a fumble or two it was always excited when he had the ball.
If you count the postseason Nick Bosa had 13 sacks as a rookie, which is amazing. He's incredible and once he recovers from knee injury he will be back at it. Hayne showed flashes, I think he could've stuck around as a special teams ace if he'd so chosen but as a runner the rugby guys tend to run too high. Future rugby to NFL players will need to adjust their running style to maximize their ability
Jared Hayne looked like he'd be the next Devan Hester in the pre-season, but made a lot of rookie mistakes once the regular season began. Lots of promise, way sorry to see him go.
Jarryd Hayne was an exceptional runner with the ball in his hands, but lacked the pass protection/receiving skills for the game. Basically, he needed to learn the nuances of the game. If he stuck around the league for a couple years, he might've made a solid back. Had a few nice highlights in his short time in the league.
When you look at defensive stats, you need to compare the stats to players of the same position. 42 tackles for a DE in a 3-4 defense is pretty good, the 9 sacks is great too. 3-4 DEs are mainly supposed to clog up the middle of line and keep Offensive lineman from blocking the linebackers so the linebacker can make the tackle. He brings glory to a usually inglorious position.
Lifelong 49'er fan here. I was really rooting for the Hayne Plane to make it, even as a special teams player. I think it would've been great to have all of Australia rooting for my team. It wasn't from a lack of trying, but he just couldn't figure it out. It takes years to learn how to play American Football. His running style was too upright, in my opinion. Gotta run "low" in the NFL, not exposing your midsection.
You gotta give it a fair comparison because most defensive lineman aren’t gonna get that many tackles like linebackers are in total because linebackers are always near the play.and most DBs or corners are gonna have the most solo tackles because they are lined up 1 on 1 most of the time.you gotta compare him to their defensive linemen tackle numbers to give him a fair comparison
I will never forget what my wife said the first time she saw Jimmy G.... she said "who is that!?" To which I replied "that's Jimmy G" and then she said "I don't say this often but I'd let him spit in my mouth" 😂😂😂😂 that pretty much sums up how good looking he is lol
Hayne was good but the skills positions (RB WR QB) are more complex. Schemes and responsibilities are more complicated to learn than playing lineman. If he would’ve took a deep dive for longer and sooner (at least 2yrs) he would’ve been better. He might’ve been good at safety too. As 9ers fan I was cheering for him.
Jaryd Hayne had potential. I loved the idea of the Niners picking him up but TBH it was a failed experiment. Not all his fault tho. For one, he was super raw and ultra green. Needed more time to understand the game, and then second - the team was not very good as a whole, so that didn't exactly help his situation. But one thing for sure, he was fun to watch. Wish it coulda worked out. I watched his rugby highlights and that dude can ball out....
I went to training camp the year we brought in hayne i thought his running style was crazy i just don't think he worked in that scheme, shanahan might like him if we still had him tho
If you think someone like Hayne could pick up football and play as well as someone like CMac who has played his whole life and literally has pro football in his genes, you're out of your goddamn mind.
Tackles is not really a metric for lineman, it's more for linebackers and safeties. Lineman metrics are tackles for loss, sacks, forced fumbles, those kind of things. If a team passes 50% of the time then linemen would have 50% less attempts than linebackers or DBs at tackling. Take another look at those tackling stats and note the position played by the leaders
Defensive Ends don't make their money getting a ton of tackles. They make their money primarily hitting the QB. Bosa broke PFFs record for most pressures by a rookie in a single season with over 80. Then you can also look at how many QB hits and sacks they have and after that compare their tackles for a loss. Nick Bosa started off the first 4 games of the season dealing with a high ankle sprain so he didn't have as big of an impact as he could have. By the time he made it to the Super Bowl he got 12 pressures on Mahomes. After last nights games Frank Clark is tied with Nick Bosa with the most pressures in a post over the last two seasons and Nick isn't even in the playoffs this year. It took Frank Clark to accomplish in 5 games what Nick achieved in just 3... and he was a rookie.
I would have liked to have seen them get Hayne when he was a bit younger, and could have had a bit more time to develop. There was the framework of a good player in there, just never had the time to develop.
Hayne probably needed 4 or 5 more years to develop into a true football player. Biggest weakness was blocking and also reading blocks and using them effectively, catching the ball also wasn't graceful. Its hard to change sports and immediately expect to go against the best in the world. Great potential though.
