France were poor but still finished 2nd and barely a mention for any of their forwards.. no Cros? No Atonio? Not a France fan but some of their players were still very good

Yeah my opinion is he actually had a better tournament than Joe McCarthy! Pure coz he played well every game. McCarthy was amazing for the first 2 games/ good 3rd, but then a bit quiet in the last two
Beirne should have been in the team, too much emphasis on how teams finished and little about those who started great, its easier to finish well if you’ve had a bad start , but Beirne will be first name on the lions team…
Yep. Beirne is an astonishing player, and ‘Big’ Joe McCarthy - for all his promise, and he is young - was battered against England. Battered. He’ll get there I’m sure, but now? Beirne is a worldie
I've been saying it for years and I cant believe some people still arent convinced but George Ford is one of the best 10s in the world. Yes he's not as flashy as someone like Russell and he missed too many kicks Vs Ireland but his game management and ability to take the ball right to the line are so good
@@christopherodonovan Yes I would take him on the lions tour. I don't know if he'll be a starter but it depends how Farrell wants to play. My 10s would be Ford, Crowley and Russell, and I would take Marcus Smith as a 15. Ford brings so much control and game management experience I don't think he should be left at home. The other big question mark is whether Owen Farrell gets picked

Also I don't think Smith gets brought as a 15 compared to players like Frawley, Keenan, Furbank, Kinghorn list goes on etc.. Smith might get pulled over Ford or vice versa. But you will have Crowley, Finn and then and English 10. Either Smith or Ford

Yeah I know that turnovers are easier to get when constantly defending, but he's immovable over the ball and turnovers are invaluable, being as strong over the ball as him could earn him a start in any side in the world I really believe
@dylan-ht7ox But its not just his turnovers. His complete game is excellent. Tackling, ball carrying, reading the game and also leadership. He plays with intensity. A non biased approach will definitely see him start for the Lions.

Aki and Fickou both had better tournaments overall, people are just jumping in a bandwagon because of how Italy finished. After the first three weeks this would have been 15 Irish players

Unfortunately most English do, I find it hard to figure out, you get destroyed by Scotland beat Ireland at home by a single point in the 82nd minute and get beaten by France and all of a sudden England are going to rule world rugby, its just more of the same setting themselves up for a big fall 😉

Ireland tried a silly split against England and it back fired. Gipson park was on the wing! I’m with biggar. Aki and Fikau were the best centres. Honourable mention to wainwright who I thought was bloody brilliant. Ben earl was brilliant against Ireland.
The picks are individual and not what the team does. FINN AT 10 all day. Everything else was well discussed. Man a pint with these lads is a bucket list.

FINN for president!!!! Ford was/is a terrible pick at 10…you listed 4-5 things he f’d up, and that he didn’t even show up for a game…your reasons talked me out of him…but you pick him. England had zero attack until game 4…you talked about how he managed the other games…because manage is all he does, ford had zero affect on the tournament! Ford is an amazing 10!! #1 all time for game management and winning games, he’s amazing! Just didn’t have an effect on the tournament as a whole.
Penaud wasnt brilliant, in fact, he wasn't in anyway as effectual as pre WC. He was inconsistent, not error-prone but not error-free either. Duhan also doesn’t qualify - he's only blistering in a certain type of game. He was quiet against Italy and shutdown by Ireland. You'd think Ramos considering how.much fell on his shoulders; Kyle Rowe stood out for Scotland, Waboso shined for England, but Rio Dyer should be in this for consistency along with Lowe. Calvin Nash had landed well into Ireland, but you can see how crucial Hugo Keenan is as a full back, despite Frawley doing a great job in his stead, with versatility, utility, and a dangerous kicking game. Ramos, Lowe, and Dyer.
@@Big-Si2253 This is my main criticism of VDM. He’s a huge talent and a thorn for us England fans, but if defenders can get to him then the ball will always just die in his possession rather than simply offloading to anyone else.
François Cros ahead of Reffell everyday. You can't pick the number 7 of the worst team at 6 and not pick the 6 of the second team of the tournament who was equally outstanding throughout the tournament.
Ford was terrible against Scotland but that was mainly due to Cares service it was horrendous. Fair play to Care he is borderline English legend but he is finished now. Ford is inconsistent but on his day the best 10 in the world.
not well rounded, poor defence, selfishness and arrogance is hindering his game. Just look at the last 3 games against Ireland, he disappears and his defence is exposed. Conan's try last year and Nash's near try this year, he bites in too far, particularly when Nash nearly scored, he had no business being there. Nash stepped 4 players and had a gap (that he probably should have taken) but Duhan should have been covering that gap. And his desperation to be the hero had such a negative impact this weekend, if he wasn't so selfish he'd use the fact that he was a target to his advantage, the amount of times gaps would have opened up had he simply passed the ball when players close in on him Scotland no doubt could have, not necessarily scored, but wreak havoc and make 20 meters. Of course he should ALSO be trying to run the length of the pitch too, he's got great feet and speed but he has to learn to mix up his game and cool his head. Had he switched up his approach it would have left eh Irish tea second guessing if he's gonna pass or run, which gives him more opportunity to create moments for himself and others. But as it was players had no problem breaking the defensive line and leaving gaps, because they knew he was determined to keep the ball.
He was good but Lowe and Penaud were clearly way better - just the stats alone will tell you that. van der Merwe was on the end of 3 Scottish plays that made the most of the opportunities that England's mistakes gave them, but he wasn't anything against Italy or Ireland.
@fomora12 I wouldn't be upset with Aki at 12 - he was solid as always. Who would you have in place at 3 and 5? I actually thought Schoeman had a decent 6N. I wouldn't be upset with Martin in there instead of McCarthy but I can't understand people who continually back Itoje, I don't think he's been at his best for a number of years now.
Duhan shouldn't be there, one good game in the tournament and then the pressure of catching Stuart Hogg's record got in his head. If he plays freely he can be devastating, but he let was his own worst enemy after the England game.
Brex and Menoncello were actually pretty damn poor. Brex missed more tackles than anyone and Menoncello the 3rd and both only had a 75% tackle completion rate which is terrible. They were also both largely missing in attack with 0 tries and 1 try assist between them and barely making the stats for carries, metres gained and linebreaks. Both mediocre players who gave it their all in an Italian team exceeding expectations. Lawrence and Aki, and Fickou and Jones were the best 12s and 13s - probably Lawrence Fickou if I had to pick. The Italians shouldn't even be in the running.
13 is almost always going to have the highest tackle missed percentage particularly if the defensive system involves them shooting up out of the line like Italy’s. Brex’s job is to apply pressure, he’s going to miss tackles
François Cros was the best 6, no challenge there, sorry... I don't like Finn but again, best 10 despite the team not being great. Fickou at 13... Brex was great offensively but man his job is defence and he missed so many tackles 🙈

Fact of the matter Dan Sheehan is the best Hooker in the northern Hertfordshire and arguably 1 of the best in the world. He will be on the Lions team and most likely a starter. 3:39 England beat Ireland. Yeap beaten by the officials, an English players foot in touch 3 phases before they score a try, which means it couldn't be checked. . Get over yourself, by your own logic Scottish and French players should be in over English players as they beat them.
