Klaus Heissler. Fellow Arizonan here I like to carry my LCP during the summers in Phoenix since I wear a lot of basketball shorts so I got this one because it’s just an inch bigger,I carried a Glock 22 for years but now that the 9mm is definitely better then it use to be I don’t think a .40 is necessary like it once was.
I trust Ruger more than any other firearms manufacturer. At this current time, every gun i own says Ruger on it. It wasn't 100% intentional but I enjoy their products and of course prices. Thanks for the review btw.
My EC9s has been sent back to Ruger numerous times for repair. The first two times were for a broken striker, and the second time the pistol had only been dry-fired. Ruger replaced the slide and striker assembly both times. When the EC9s was brand new, the slide got stuck during an initial field strip. I missed the NOTE on instruction #5 (don’t rack the slide without the takedown pin installed). The tech at Ruger advised me over the phone to bash the slide with a hammer until the slide returned to its proper position, which I reluctantly did. The slide again got stuck, along with the barrel. No bashing helped this time. The pistol was returned to Ruger for repair the third time. Ruger decided to destroy the pistol and send me a replacement. I bought a second one since I liked the first one so much (in spite of the problems). Both the new one and the replacement exhibited frequent failures to feed. Both went back to Ruger. They both are now functioning fine. Ruger customer service has been courteous, helpful, superb, fantastic. I like the EC9s because I shoot accurately with it. I like how it feels in my hands. I like the safety, the magazine disconnect, the takedown process, the sights (I painted the front), the trigger, the magazine latch, and the slide serrations. I’ve had to send back Security 9s four times for repair and an LCP II twice, all within a year. Ruger reliability does not match customer support in my experience.
Recently picked one up in a trade and have really enjoyed it. My wife and I took it out to our backyard range and put 200 rounds of ball ammo and 50 rounds of defensive rounds through it. Absolutely ZERO FTF's or FTE's. I was planning on it to be a truck pistol BUT.......... My wife enjoyed shooting it so much that she put her Glock 43 in the safe and has staked claim to my new pistol. Guess which one of us is sad now. Yep.... ME.
Never had failed me love this gun. People may knock it but it is reliability is awesome 200 rounds no hang up. blazer brass 115 fmj and hollow point +p 124 gr. And for sights put some glow amazing stuff.
Just bought one today, my first ever handgun, I've always been worried about small guns as I have big hands but I will say it fits nicely in my hand. The weight is wonderful, the sights could be better and it is brand new all for $209. No problems with the slide locking or any safety problems, however it did stovepipe twice both times near the end of the clip, but it shoots well and doesn't have recoil all in all it's a great buy.
I got one yesterday and just shot it today. I have 3 other guns all .22 cal so the kick from this, though anticipated, really jolted me lmao. I got it at cabelas for 250 plus about 70 for 150 rounds (100 cheap FMJ 50 nicer hollow point) and a cleaning kit Compared to the heritage rough rider I'd been concealed carrying, this is so comfortable. I'm used to a big ass gun digging into my abdomen and groin. When I put this in my holster I was like... Damn where'd it go? I feel nothing 😂
Ordered one for my wife, have it in a couple days, I want her to watch this, like how you keep it simple, yet cover everything important. Plus you're a Ruger enthusiast, and I'm quickly becoming one, thanks 🧿
Good video. I know it's a year later but my local shop has them for 209. And I think your correct in comparison with the 43 or the shield. My shop had the shield today for 269. Glocks have been over priced for awhile and I have bought 11 in last 7 years but sold all the damn grip just blows it. Ruger makes great guns and price is awesome. I am gonna get 2 for the price of a Glock.
Scott hillbilly Morgan/Kentucky. I was a Glock person for many years even tho I’m born and raised in Arizona where Ruger is I never really messed with them but I fell in love with my LCP and I just picked the EC9s up a few months ago and already love it just as much the trigger is superior to any and every Glock I owned and like you said I can get 2 of these for the price of one Glock actually my LCP was $255 out the door and I got the FDE frame version which is $10 more then the black and my ec9s was $221 out the door so 2 Rugers for under $500. I actually had a situation last year where my LCP has to come out of my pocket it almost got pointed at someone’s face but they stopped their crazy shit soon as they saw it the person had a weapon and was charging me so my LCP saved my ass that day, there was a story last 4th of July here in west Phoenix of a firework stand owner getting robbed one night and the robber let him get in his pocket to grab his cash or whatever and the good guy was able to pull his LCP and shoot him in the face killing him lol the bad guys girlfriend was the get away driver I guess she saw her mans head pop because she got out of her own car and ran on foot lol.
I had an Lc9s and the grip was definitely thinner up front. The gun really conceals better than it’s size would suggest. Would be cool if they went with the new grip style soon.
The wider grip rear is becoming common on Ruger pistols. It's on the LCP 2 and maybe on the Security 9. But that take down and reassembly is just ridiculous. You're right. Other than that, typical Ruger quality. Nice review.
Gently polish, not grind, the feed ramp and run only Hornady 115 grain critical defense and your ec9s will shoot flawlessly. Mine does. Accurate out to any distance you area likely to need it. Proper trigger skills are a must for accuracy for any gun this small. Outstanding gun.
My first firearm was the LC9. I later traded it for the LC9s, because the trigger was so much better. Kind of regret getting rid of the first firearm I ever bought. (Attachments.) Lost money on the trade I'm sure, and a few months later the LC9s dropped dramatically. That really hurt. lol On a good note, the CTC moved right over.
I disagree that this is designed to compete with the 43. At this price point, it seems like Ruger is trying to grab the Taurus, Sccy, and Keltec market. Which I think they will succeed at doing. I really do not need this handgun, I have others that fit the need this fills. However; for the price, I might pick one up just to mess around with it. It might be a good gift gun as well. Great video by the way!
My EC9s had to be shipped back to Ruger twice within the two months I had it. In both instances they replaced the striker assembly and the slide. Ruger customer service is great. Their pistols ...? I've also had to send back my LCP II twice and my Security 9 twice. All were purchased since February 2019. Ruger kept my Security 9 the second time, destroyed the pistol, retired its serial number, and have sent me a replacement. I had to send another Security 9 in for a slide stop problems (never been fired).
New sub here. Great video! Smooth delivery, informative review, good production values. I think your channel's going to grow! Despite the take-down, I still do want to get an EC9s. I used to own an LC9, pre-"S", and the trigger SUUUUUUUCKED!! I love the trigger redesign, and the weight. The size is obviously unbeatable. The price is the clincher. I've got to get this gun. Thanks again!
Great quality, as you mentioned. Not to mention, the best customer service in the industry. Period. I'm back on the Ruger train, won't buy anything else. Thinking about buying one of these, but having just snagged up one of the last production 9E's for under $300 (9E is awesome, by the way)... Wife may not let me :D :D: D
PilatusTurbo. They definitely do have the best customer service in the industry I’m proud to have them represent my home state of Arizona I have had multiple family members and friends work for them and they treat their employees just as well. I’ve had really good luck with Winchester as well, I purchased a Winchester SXP Defender and in the process of trying to find a mount to put a flashlight on it I found that there’s almost no aftermarket parts made for them so one day I got the yearly Winchester magazine and saw that another model of the SXP came with a little 2 inch rail so I called to see if I could order that rail piece they told me they don’t sell it separately but the lady was like “I’m sure I have one laying around back here let me get one out to you” and sent it to me for free it was very awesome I believe her name was Christina she left a very good impression it’s not often a company these days takes care of you like that
I was planning on purchasing the new sig p365 but after watching so many reviews and certain issues with it i may just pick up one of these.I own a ruger sr1911 and i love it so i think i will stick by the company. This is a good review and a very good price for the gun.ty i am a subscriber now :)
I bought the LC9 like 8-10 years ago when they 1st came out. It's been fantastic, it's never had a malfunction of any kind. However it's the one with the hammer and the extremely long trigger pull. So I saw these a few weeks ago and picked one up thinking it would be great like the LC9 has been. I was very disappointed. The gun began having issues on the 3rd shot, the slide would not go forward all the way. This continued through like 70 rounds at least once every 5 shots with many different ammo types. Then the slide got stuck while cleaning the pistol and I realized the barrel tilts and binds the slide up. I did some very light sanding on the upper inside of the slide where to round is ejected and it seems to have cured the problem. I've now fired it 150 rounds without an issue, though I've read on some other channels that the saftey red dot comes out and gets stuck and binds up the slide also. So far I've not seen this. I'm glad however I kept my old reliable LC9 because this one has a long way to go before earning my trust. Still I believe in Ruger though.
I’m all aboard the Ruger train. I have there Ar556 and love it for what it is. So when I went to buy a new conceal weapon I naturally looked at this for its value. At $229 it should have been a no brainer. BUT .... that takedown was a deal breaker for me. I don’t need no pins popping out and rolling around. I went with the Shield at $300.
I never heard anyone including Ruger mention the "window" in the back of the barrel chamber (right side). You can clearly see if you have a chambered round with slide closed.
It definitely competes with SCCY which I own. I own several Rugers too. Ruger builds a solid gun and probably builds the most robust revolvers ever made. You can't go wrong for the money
Getting one soon. I don't think I will EVER spend more than $400 on a firearm again. I have had 2 Glocks & honestly they are a $400 gun with $150 tacked on for the brand name. Also own a Sarsilmaz 9mm (CZ75B clone) that I got for $325. Light years better than a Glock.
From your experience, do you have specific rounds that you would recommend as working well with your EC9S, and rounds that maybe seem a little suspect, and prone to issues?
Nice review; love the background, sound quality, the conciseness and pace of your speaking (no stupid annoying obnoxious gimmicks). Only thing I would say is do some close-up angles so we can see some smaller details. Good job and I can’t wait to see more reviews. Oh and also MUCH APPRECIATION for not having a 45-60 minute long arse review.
Have the lc9s put a handall jr grip sleeve on it $8 , now it feels good in hand and conceals awesome , with that trigger and price point , hard to beat .
love mine so much it became my everyday carry, and i sold my security 9 and bought more magazines for the ec9s, like how it shoots, for such a tiny pistol i find mine dead on, hit targets with east at up to 40 yards.
It's not to hard to take down or put together. I put my hand on the backend. Like you're gonna rack the slide onehanded and shake the pin out. Picked mine up for $300 with a holster and 100 rounds. Plus their shop is down the road.
Enjoyed watching your video. My EDC (most of the time) is my Ruger EC9s with Crimson Trace Trigger guard laser. Usually carry front pocket in a soft pocket holster. So VERY easy to carry that way. Do you have any newer videos with yours with the CT Laser?' Thanks and God bless....
Next pick up need a small cheap reliable gun. I like glock, but just sick of them. I own one, no need for 2 glocks. I owned a shield traded it for another gun. Was a good gun. Sometimes I wish I kept it
The slide is what I'm lookin for. Basically it Must be as easy as the S&W 380 EZ if not forget it. My girlfriend had the LCP 9. To hard to work.. This looks the same.
I was thinking of getting the lcp2 but than saw this one and I am debating which one I want . I want it for ankle carry .... So which one would u say work better ?
I have two pistols, a walther PPQ and a ruger ec9s. The walther was about 4x the price. It’s shoots better. Feels better. The walther is a better gun hands down. But it’s not 4x better.....
Recently bought one and the slide was locking everytime i pulled it back? I thought this was a safety feature and then took it out to shoot and it was not ejecting shells correctly. I think i bought a $200 paper weight because i will not trust this gun for an emergency. Now that im watching videos im seeing that its not supposed to slide lock on every pull so ill have to send it back to ruger.....
Definitely send it to Ruger if you haven’t already because it shouldn’t be like that and Ruger will definitely take care of you their customer service is awesome
I have an original LCP .380 and I can tell you that it would be hard to make it any worst. LC9 (bought my mom one) has always had a better trigger than the LCP imo.
Hey brother, why is it called ec9s? Is it because its easy to use? Also, how difficult it is to load the pistol? I have arthritis and hand strength isnt what it used to be, with that said how us the recoil? Thanks in advance for your feedback
You have very beautiful finger nails, fingers, and very exciting tattoo. Kind of want you, but hey, great review. I bought Ruger's teal grip with brushed slider EC9S. Totally agree, finally a correct pistol, WTF. Any nontox, non-lead ammo recommendations?
D Car those three are very similar pistols I've never owned the Celtic but I've owned multiple cpx-2 sccys that trigger on this is definitely better than the sccy but the sky holds 10 Rounds it's hard to say which one I would pick over the other
Blows away the Keltec p11. I own both the P11 and the EC9s. The EC9s wins hands down. The trigger on the p11 is super heavy, the EC9s trigger is light and crisp. The EC9s is also a lot thinner and easier to carry concealed.
