i really enjoy mine . its definetly a sasquatch , polar bear , grizzly , water buffalo , big game slayer . especially with 300 grain buffalo bore solid copper bullits , or barnes tsx hollow points . i do believe it will kill about anything on the planet . and its a great companion to my marlin 18.5 inch bbl model 1895 cowboy lever action in 45/70 . theres nothing like versatility , and both of these guns have it .
You put one hell of 454 Casull video together my friend! Great shooting and lots of it! Well done. I had to let my original 454 go about 10 years ago. had been shooting .44 mag. 41 mag., & 357 since I was a young teen and all through my life..... Ended up with real bad arthritis in both wrists and that SRH 454 took me out. Went through an "Arthoplasty" on my right wrist two years ago now and can shoot the hard kickers in single action (only) again and am getting both the 4 5/8 in. and 6 1/2 in. Bisleys in 454 this week! I'm in my 60s now and realize that my best handgunning days are well behind me, but I'm going to go the rest of the way with my favorite caliber in one of my favorite "six-guns".... ;) Thank you for making this video. I found it at a good time in my day and rally enjoyed it! God Bless my young friend, and be careful out there.....
Thank you! I appreciate that. I love the big bore stuff too, I think you will enjoy those two revolvers. If you like the SRH I have a pretty good video similar to this one with lots of shooting of it, I just made it not long ago. Look for Super Redhawk Part 3 specifically on my channel if you are interested in seeing more .454. You gotta shoot what you enjoy, life is short.
A very powerful and attractive handgun. I previously owned several (non-bisley) models in 44mag. I like them anyway and ALWAYS looking for any excuse to get another...good video...thanks for showing!
Yeah, its a fun one. If you like those non-bisley .44s I did a video on one not that long ago, only about 9 or 10 videos back or so. Thanks for watching and enjoying it too.
old video . Shows how cool you really are. ! My father ' uncle , and other old warriors , have a saying. If the 44 won't do it , leave it alone. Hardly anyone carries the monsters. . Some real survivor types . Are just plain frugal . Really Frugal. Peace.
Awesome gun, awesome vid. Loved that you shot all the different rounds and different targets made it interesting and informative. Love it when shooters record the roar of the Lion.. *S* I have always had a love with the Ruger Super Blackhawk 44 mag with the 7.5" barrel. Practice with 44 special and use the 44 mag with defensive rounds loaded in my saddle bag, 1911 45 in my vest. U jst nvr knw.. Heard a lot about the 454 Casull after watching this definitely salivating especially when it shoots 45 Colt as well. I subscribed keep on rockin in the free world...
+EagleWind Rider I have a huge soft spot for the Ruger Super Blackhawk in .44 with the 7.5" barrel, that is the gun that got me into shooting big bore revolvers at around age 17. The option to use .45 Colt and .454 in the same gun is definitely a selling point. Thanks!
So cool, I can barely contain myself. Now I gots to get one lol! I just recently purchased a Ruger 357/9mm convertible, and now I know I have to get the Bisley .454!! Man, You are a great shot with that magnum. Maybe the new Hickcock45. Great video. Thank you so much.
I bought a Super Blackhawk chambered in .44 and found it to be one of my favorites. Oddly I bought it the day after my Super Redhawk chambered in .454 casull and .45 colt. I Prefer my Super Redhawk for comfort and better accuracy at longer distances personally. But I have to be honest and say I definitely want to try one out now. Great job with the video pard.
I have a soft spot for the Super Blackhawk in .44 as it was the first big bore I ever shot. I do own a Super Redhawk in .454 as well, you might want to check out my Super Redhawk "Part 3" video (its the best one of the group) if you just enjoy that gun, there's a lot of shooting of it in that video. Thanks for watching.
@@exterminator87 No problem pard. You keep making them and I'll keep watching. You got another sub that's for damn sure. My mother and I were discussing our old days working at the local prison and the subject of comfort with a weapon came up. She worked the armory there and was the marksmanship champion more times than not for 11 years. I showed her this video of yours. She.....we were very impressed with the way you are extremely comfortable holding and firing your weapons. Keep up the good work man.
I appreciate that, I appreciate all my subscribers. That's really cool, thank you and tell your mom thank you for that too. That's good to hear, I've never really had any formal training other then practicing on my own or with others.
@@exterminator87With your comfort with firearms formal training would probably suit you well. Tactical training is a great cert. to have honestly. I have a pitiful 5 years law enforcement experience but due to any class taken having to do with firearms, psychology, defensive/offensive driving, self defense/P.P.T.C., and the like makes you a shoe in for that type of work. But I can't stand most of the police so it was a waste of my time lol.
I just picked up my brand new Ruger Bisley Super Blackhawk .454 from my FFL holder. I was somewhat disappointed to find that the bottom frame screws were "buggered" and that polishing compound was found inside the trigger guard and other small places. I got the gun home and did a detailed disassembly only to find more polishing compound inside the frame. All the small parts are now soaking in Hoppe's with a heavy film of the solvent on all surfaces of the frame. This is a minor complaint since I was going to tear the gun down anyway and do a trigger job. A white outline rear sight blade and a red insert for the front sight blade will also be installed for my aging eyes. I've owned Ruger products for over 40 years but I wish they would tighten up their quality control alittle more.
Thanks for watching, I think you will be pleased, yeah I know how hard it is to find time myself. I struggle to edit videos from past range trips a lot too.
Liked and subscribed...thanks for very entertaining video...and good shooting! Now, looking for this same gun in this time of astronomical prices...dohhh.
Hey, man. I really appreciate this video. I was going to buy the Magnum Research BFR, chambered in .454 Casull; but then I saw how well you handled the recoil, with the Ruger's wooden grips. Perhaps I can stretch my budget, and get both?
I agree, and I have used both of those targets in other shooting adventures-definitely fun to shoot. I am glad you enjoyed this, thank you for watching.
Nice variety of targets, loads, and calibers (45, 45+p, 454)! Helpful in thinking about choosing the SA New Model Super Blackhawk like you shot or the DA Super Redhawk with 5 inch barrel and no Bisley trigger and grip. Thanks.
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it. If you just like .454 and want to see a similar video I did, check out my Part 3 Super Redhawk video. Its more recent.
Yes, that Part 3 was very helpful as well. As I believe you have shot both the S&W 460XVR and the Super Redhawk and Blackhawks in .454 Casull, is there any truth to the rumor the Rugers are more accurate with .45 colt ammo vs. the S&W .460s? Thanks again.
Hmm I haven't really tried them out side by side in such a way, I wouldn't think so other then maybe the .45 Colt in the .460 has to travel through a little more cylinder length before it hits rifling then in the Rugers.
Do you think the .454 Casull will poke a hole all the way through a water jug? I had to pause the film on one of your shots to examine the cylinder gap flames. It's the main reason no one should have a finger hanging around the front of the cylinder during firing. You'll have it sliced off.
Great video. I'm getting one of those gun's next. I've been getting Ruger Revolver fever lately. I've bought 3 Ruger revolvers in the past 4 months. Someone please stop me!!😨
Just some good 'ol boys havin some good 'ol fun. I love watching outdoor shooting vids in the country. I live in Chicago so yea it's indoor ranges for me. I've got a Taurus 454 and a super blackhawk 44 mag so I'm familiar with the round and somewhat familiar with the gun. Or at least a similar one. I've been curious about the 454. Great vid man. Now i want, nay NEED one!
Earned a new sub, enjoy how you make other youtubers that shoot the .454 casull look like complaining babies. Please do an update on the Ruger Super Redhawk in .454 casull as well. Looking into buying one.
I love the wooden grip - but how is the recoil ? I guess because of the length of the barrel it should be possible to shoot this thing without sore hands. Gorgeous, never seen a Casull type - must buy one.
+simon170575 its not that bad, it rolls in your hand more then anything due to the way the grip is curved, I guess hands could get sore eventually but not for a box or two.
NOT quite sure, but I love you all day.... and I appreciate that you also include your Indian wife... God bless you both. I am a dude, and ex-Marine, and I learn from you... thanks
We'll thank you, shes actually of Philippine descent but people have thought shes spanish or mexican before. Indian is a new one though. Glad you have learned something, that means a lot to me actually. Thank you for watching, I appreciate it.
Is this gun single action only? This might seem like a dumb question coming from the Ruger fans out there, but I’ve never shot or owned one. So far my only revolver is a S&W 629 .44mag. Looking at either one of these, or a colt python for my next wheel gun.
Been waiting for years on the 45LC/Casull combo. Thank you for your upload sharing the Beast of a firearm. Going to see if it's being offered over here in my area.
Have you shot it on paper for a group or just shot shaving cream, fruit, and sodas? I'm not trying to be a smart ass either....just wondering what the accuracy of these revolvers are. Thanks.
Glad to see you shooting this monster without stupid gloves on... 🤘😝🖤💥 To many damn sissy men used to shooting 9mm's and not a real mans gun.....grip it like a man and shoot the damn thing ...haha! I'm wanting the 3.75 incher like this but in 44mag but I'd take the .454 if I can find one.
@@exterminator87 have you ever had the pleasure of shooting any 475 linebaugh revolvers? I have a custom on order from Gary Reeder. Hopefully it will be done soon. He's customizing my blackhawk bisley that was 45 colt.
@@exterminator87 we'll see but it's going to have Mongolian stag grips, case colored frame and grip frame, blued everywhere else, octagon barrel and jeweled stainless hammer with an unfluted 5 shot cylinder is what it will look like at least. A lot more internal slicking will be added too of course
I need some help. I have no problem being accurate with a semi auto but I'm very inconsistent with revolvers and it has to do with my grip. Any pointers on how to hold these things properly? Thanks!
Shooting a revolver is definitely a little different. Firing double action is kind of the same, just the longer trigger pull. Single-action, you can keep your grip consistent by using your non firing hand to cock the hammer back and by not trying to hold the gun down, its okay to let the revolver jump as its not going to effect the function like it might on a semi auto. Also, its not going to beat you up as a bad if you are more relaxed, not so much that it'll hit you in the face though. More like a step below locked elbows to where it can still move your arms like shock absorbers.
I haven't shot an Alaskan but I kind of prefer Rugers single-action guns over their double action in a lot of cases. So I'd have to go with the 7-1/2".
I've shot the Alaskan quite a few times, but I've never shot one of these (the closest comparison that I've shot would be a Magnum Research BFR in .45-70 Government). I would think that the Alaskan kicks more than this Blackhawk, because there's more weight on the front of the gun with the longer barrel, and the grip frame allows the gun to absorb recoil better with a roll, rather than slamming strait back into your hands like the Alaskan does. That's just my take on it. That Alaskan with 260 gr. Magtech Casull loads is utterly fucking vicious.
Check the rear sight pin, the recoil is shaking it loose and its popping out of the side. Happens to my regular Blackhawk too. Anyway, good video and gun. You convinced me to buy one.
Yeah, I didn't notice that until I watched the video. Is there a good fix to that other then keep an eye on it? Glad I could be a good influence, haha.
My last four Ruger revolvers had the same issue. Drifted out the rear sight pin with a toothpick about halfway, cleaned channel and exposed pin with alcohol and a drop on each end with Locktite Red before pushing the pin back into place solved the issue. Must let set for a day or so before firing gun afterwards however.
Somebody get this kid a sandwich! His hand was shaking holding it just to show it to us, and he nearly lets it fly oner his head with every shot! Perhaps he should try some 45 LC in that hand cannon.
Have you ever shot a single action big bore revolver? Its okay to let it jump up, its not going to hurt its function and its going to beat you up less then if you try to hold it still if you shoot a bunch of rounds. I did try .45 Colt in the video in some parts.
