Oh lord! I live in the bullhead havasu area and could not agree more. 120 degree heat is nothing to take lightly even on the most gentle of circumstances. A trip to wallmart is a survival situation in the summer time.

I go free balls overseas. After a female medic had to tend to an injury I started wear briefs. Anything synthetic is key. Under armor did the trick for me in the middle east. And fit socks (and any merino wool socks) were key.

I needed this! I like Americana/workwear for the colder months then I just end up in shorts and a polo in the summer. I wanted to go camping more and I prefer pants over shorts when in the woods. I just need to find the perfect sock for me.

No shorts and no flip-flops! Right on, brother. Will never wear any other sock but Darn Tough. Suede would be great except for the cleaning and brushing - ugh. Panama hat is spot on choice! Wearing mine tomorrow. And always carry a handkerchief or bandana, always!
If you’re willing to expand or modernize on the Ernest Hemingway look, Try “fishing shirts”. They do fall into that short sleeve button down category you don’t like but in Texas we rock them with jeans and boots all the time. In the gulf towns they are almost formal wear for dinner. I just realized I’m wearing one in my profile pic. 🤦🏻♂️
Excellent video, Carl. I agree with most of your suggestions. However, I wear shorts when I'm golfing in really warm weather. Just about everybody does. I also wear a straw golf hat and a polo shirt. It's a typical outfit of many golfers. I wear the same outfit when fishing. I also wear sandals by the pool, which shows that the activity will often drive the outfit Having said that, on the whole, I think your advice is sound.
Well my point was that your outfit should fit your lifestyle, mine will be different than yours, but a straw golf hat might be a good addition to mine!

Short-sleeve buttondown shirts can actually look really good. The reason why so many of us associate it with a dorky look is because 1980s/90s office nerds wore these shirts with way-too-long and floppy sleeves. Brands like 3Sixteen, Gitman, JCrew, and others make short-sleeve buttondowns with a smaller, tailored sleeve, and it actually looks good.
That Panama hat and blue button up looked great. I could experiment with hats this summer! Great video! Also I’ve started wearing chinos in the summer after one of your past videos saying it’s not that bad and you’re right! Wasn’t any worse then wearing shorts so long as the pants are thin.

Great outlook on this topic and helpful tips! I find myself avoiding polos more and going for the long sleeve button-ups instead. Not covered in this video but likely implied: undershirts aren't necessary with many shirts especially on hot days.

My summer out fits are Nudie Jeans, Naked & Famous jeans, polo shirts different shades of greens, browns , black grey's and different shades of blue and linen shirts white or cream colors.
A good pair of shorts cut like chinos can be great for hanging out in but really depends if it'll work for your day. You'd never catch me in them on a work day though. Denim, polos, and my Nicks with some smart wool socks unless I gotta look nice maybe chinos.
oh my goodness I laughed so hard at the beginning of this video. Short sleeves always look kinda dorky, and who wants to have worry about sunscreen on arms? Nobody. This video advice is so essential, and practical. In search and Rescue we do a lot of cross country, (PNW) blackberries everywhere. EVERYWHERE. Sword ferns EVERYWHERE. I cant even look at a blackberry with ought disdain anymore. You have to wear thick heavy fabrics, or you will come out bleeding. I have worn 24 ounce wool pants (filson Mackinaw, I really have to get some lighter ones) and long sleeve wool shirt ( cotton kills) over a base layer shirt in the heat of summer. (85F) with a pack, and a Felt hat. (stetson x filson collab, wolf canyon hat) and boy did I sweat. But did I die? no. It was actually fine. At the time I was a Team leader for 4 other guys, who were all sunburnt ( it was kind-of funny since I was the palest.) and bleeding by the end. I was far better off than they were. Sweaty, but otherwise intact. Bandannas are truly essential. Another search same thing, everyone wore short and tank tops, we spent a significant amount of time near a lake and on boats, and they were all covered in bug bites, and were burnt to a crisp.
I don't care how much wicking the material is or if it's the latest ball drying underwear technology, when you live in a city where the humidity is 90% and there is no breeze at all, you are not gonna be dry.
@@CarlMurawski Carl, I'm down here in Houston. It's bad, so I just wear what I want which is still jeans and boots. We're gonna sweat regardless. A good shower at the end of the day works.

Carl, what is your favorite jeans for work, casual, and/or something a little dressier? I have been wearing Levi’s 505 for years. They have been my work and casual jeans. I was just wondering what else was out there.
I've been really impressed with the Taylor Stitch Democratic jeans, they're pretty free of superfluous embroidery and made in the USA. There are some great options at Tate and Yoko as well, or if you can wait a month or so Gustin can be pretty good though I dont care for their use of exposed selvedge.
Denim and Suede boots for the summer, sounds like a recipe for a killer case of swamp ass. No damn way when it's 90 degrees with 100% humidity here in NY.
Bro Carl, been binging your videos and LOVE the channel, but it kinda sounds like you’re talking to a bunch of 60 year old guys. I’m 42 and casual wear is just that for me. I wear my cowboys fitted baseball cap, shorts, a nice ironed plain white tee (slightly oversized because I’m a small guy at 5’7” 142 lbs) a pair of 7 inch Patagonia shorts (a few inches above the knee but just the right amount of baggy without looking like spandex shorts) and a pair of slip on vans or similar and that’s pretty appropriate for most places (albeit not for somewhere more formal) but I think that most guys wanna look stylish without trying too hard and button downs and fedoras and all that just scream “look at me” and I don’t think that’s what most guys are after. Most guys want to achieve an effortless casual that still looks good but allows them to feel like they kinda blend in. Just my thoughts though, great vídeo in spite of my having a different take on it. ✌🏽😎✌🏽
Good as usual. But, whats with the knock on shorts for those summer weekends with a nice airy mesh sneaker/shoe? Nobody's wearing shorts to work except the mailman. I like the look of suede shoes but they're so hard to clean if they get a stain.
You'd be surprised the apprentices who show up in shorts, I have to send them home for the day. Plus you typically only ride a motorcycle with shorts once before your leg touches the exhaust pipe! Suede is tricky, I've had luck with a suede eraser for some areas but I definitely need to make a video on this.
@@CarlMurawski haha my wife asks me why I don't wear shorts, it's cuz I don't want to go change if I have to jump on the bike. Touched a pipe once when I was 16 in shorts, never again. Plus once u pass 21 and u aren't at the beach, shorts are just lazy.
There's tropical wool!!!!? I'm out here struggling to find 100% wool plaid and heavyweight flannel shirts and your telling me theres tropical wool and you don't even cover it!
I only wear flip flops at home or to the beach and pool. Never out because, 1. I always carry a firearm when I am out and about (legally) 2. No one needs to see a grown man's feet (and my feet are nice).
@@evansmith6861 Hi Evan, I carry a firearm hoping that I never ever have to use it. That being said, if the terrible time comes where I have to draw it for the safety of myself or loved ones, I think flip flops are not the footwear I want to be wearing for movement. Just wearing them around my house I've had them fold underneath my foot, or gotten stuck on a threshold or root. Just thinking tactically, it's not a big deal, nice pair of Vans or some other slip ons work for me even in the heat of Central Florida. Even if a person doesn't carry a firearm, wearing sandals or flip flops out and about to me is not a good idea for the lack of the ability to move quickly if needed. Paranoid, yeah probably, but horrible things happen at the least opportune times. Take care.
If you were a auto detailer you can wear shorts, completely industry acceptable. #dontbejelly No offense to anyone who likes hose Chucka boots, but those things are fugly
