Lando is the first proper black figure, the NBA figures don’t exactly count seen as they have a specialised design, they also came out in the same year 🤓
I’ve noticed with figure collectors that keeping in the box is okay and all, as long as there’s a transparent window to see it through, but if you can’t see it through the box, let alone the finished product as with Lego, you’ve ruined its purpose
It's never fun to leave Lego sets mint in box. That only works for action figures because you can still see the figure in the package. Lego is meant to be opened.
Honestly glad you opened such a "legendary" set. I understand the like "historical preservation" behind keeping lego sealed, but it's certainly not a bad thing to open a set up and enjoy it.
From that title I thought you were going to smash the box or break Boba Fett's arms or something, thankfully all you did was build the set and actually use it like the designers intended back in the day! It's crazy most people would have it sit in a box instead of actually enjoying owning it!
What I would do is sell it new and then buy a used one. You let it stay new, you get a bit of a profit, and you get the set (get your cake and you eat it too)
Good on ya mate. It's nowhere near the equivalent but I managed to find a Dino Island set boxed for a great price, and opened it after a day. I was weighing up the pros and cons and realised "I bought it because I wanted the set, not the box."
-I'm gonna ruin this set. -Is he gonna destroy the minifigures? Melt the bricks? Smear greasy food over them? -Worse, he is gonna open the box, assemble the set and use the play features. -What a vile crime against all Lego stands for!!!
I recently discovered (and binged) your channel. Have to say I love your humour and really appreciate all the jokes you slip into every video. Thanks so much, sir! ❤
I just binge-watched your entire channel! Loving the vids (especially the British humour) I normally upload on a Friday, so after furious editing, I can now look forward to Robrick Sundays!
Fun fact: the yellow/blue cape was used a SECOND time with the 20th Anniversary edition of Lando as featured in 75259 Snowspeedwr from 2019. The only difference is 1 more cm of cape, according to Bricklink. I'm pleased to have this one even if the brown is updated to Reddish Brown.
My guess for the Carbonite chamber placing is because of making an escape scene with the door leading out to the landing platform. Making the walkway in the center would not only be balanced but also sturdy in 2003 LEGO standards.
I kind of like the fact that I've only ever seen this set 3 times: in the catalogs, once at the LEGO Store in Disney World, and once in a resale LEGO store. Glad you enjoyed building it!
I don't really get why opening a lego set decreases it's value. The box is literally carton, nothing special! And even if I build it, it shouldn't decrease it even more...
The lockdowns and the recent release of a new lego star wars game really brought parasitic price speculation into overdrive for stuff like this. I remember seeing a nearly complete one used back in 2019 for 150 USD at a hobby shop specifically made for selling used lego. I'm not the kinda guy who usually has 100 dollars just lying around to blow on lego used or otherwise but it just makes it sting a bit more considering this is one of those sets I've always loved the aesthetics of since I saw it in a magazine as a kid. Knockoff companies never stopped producing copies of the boba fett from this set, so even if you had money to blow on the individual minifigures it's a russian roulette type situation of visually identical genuine bobas, knockoff bobas passed as genuine or "custom replicas" as well as some actual waterslide decal customs all being passed hands between a mix of people that don't know anything other than ""boba cloud city value+big money!!!"" and actual scammers. A similar phenomenon was happening with stuff like the gonk droid and the original lego jabba for a bit, but those have mostly gone back down in price as far as I'm aware.
@@RobrickLego The SDCC ones are worse in the knockoffs case because of the fact they were a one time only event exclusive deal and are still in high demand. The figures from this set being mass produced set exclusives instead of something that's actually super rare like the SDCC ones make them a lot more painful in a different way. You know the real ones are out there, it's just almost all the figures on the market are being hoarded by a select few sellers who are also squatting on the fakes without even knowing half the time. Another example of the "mass produced but treated the same as a one time deal" thing is the Rock raiders chief minifigure of all things. unlike the others I don't think it's got too many knockoffs. It's gotten so bad with that one theres' like just 4 or 5 sellers online that are just constantly stocked with "1" of the figure but just so happen to get another for a much higher price each time they sell one. I still have mine from back in the day but I've got enough of a weird attachment to it I'm not willing to sell it off to someone that's probably one of those 4 or 5 scalpers for any price lmao. I swear one day people are just gonna find a storage unit full of all these currently grossly inflated lego parts after they run out of people willing to pay so much for used minifigs. I say "lego parts" because this phenomena is hitting lego stuff across the board and kinda making it harder to find some certain parts online for a sane price unless you buy used bulk lots and get lucky.
On the plus side you have a really cool set, On the downside you just sacrificed around half the potential value.... Fingers crossed the video eventually makes back the losses in views, ad revenue and channel growth in the future. Keep doing what you are and I am sure you will hit 10k in no time. God knows how you will too this video though.
honestly just found your channel maybe a day or two ago and it’s now my fav channel on youtube. keep up the good work brother! can’t wait to see more vids🦾
@@RobrickLego I have the instruction only, why is the box so important? I dont get it xD The box is there to protect what is inside, and I certainly will not keep the boxes to take up all my space in the cellar, wine need the space more lol
I knew you wouldn't destroy it, but I thought, I don't know, that you would put pieces in wrong positions, or putting in pieces from other themes, like Castle or Pirates just because why not... I didn't expected at all that you will simply do the worst of the worst of the WORST...! To... OPEN IT! XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD That's not ruined, that's well used, "well played" (given that LEGO comes from the Danish "Play well") XD XD
Not a bad idea! It might sound weird but i grew really attached to this one though, when i bought it me and my wife rented a flat and she said i was only allowed to open it when we get our own place seeing as its so expensive and we didn't want anything to get lost during the move so it's got a lot of sentimental value :)
