I got through Rule of Wolves because of Zoya and Nikolai. I agree and I didn't know what to feel about how the Darkling "volunteered" to suffer for eternity. Also didn't know what to feel about Nina and Hanne. 😅

I agree 100% with everything you had problem with. The only reason I would give a higher score is because the way she handled Zoya and Nikolai. I wish Bardugo could just give up on her quest of trying to "fix" the Darkling, trying to fix the way readers think of him. I'm absolutely terrified of the show and the whole nonsense it seems to be going on. I can't help but watch, but I know I'm setting myself to disappointment. Hope it at the least handle the characters well.

how do you think about the show now? I was positively surprised...
@RafaelaCarrilho

@@justarandomgirlvx3578 I really liked some changes, others not so much, but overall I think the show made the story even better. Can you imagine if we only spent all that time the book took with Alina and Mal on the mountains, only with them? I think adding the crows and others characters point of views made everything more interesting. I LOVED how they gave us some clues for Zoya. Like her bracelet, she talking about Suli etc.

@@RafaelaCarrilho Yesss I also think it was amazing how they included the crows in the story. I never thought that it is possible that it turns out to be that good! And the actors were definitely really passionate about their characters, you can truly see how much love was put into the show and the chemistry is amzing.

Yesss I hate that David died, I am it happens and there’s a war in the book but he was such a likable and different character and it was right after the wedding, also the darklings death ending was so weird lol like ok I guess we needed to get him somehow

I'm going to have to AGREE with you on literally everything. I just posted a similar video and I 100% agree. The sacrifice at the end was sooo random and unnecessary. Like literally who asked for the Darkling back? no one.

Nikolai and Zoya’s love story was frustrating tho. If it was written from ONLY their perspectives I feel as though I would’ve enjoyed their story more but it just felt forced. And one sided (poor Nickolia)

Hearing your thoughts reopened my hatred for this book lol. A complete mess! Her petty hatred for the darkling is so strange and I absolutely hate how forced everything felt especially with the alina cameo and mayu povs. Also im not completely satisfied with Nikolai's ending. Truth be told I always imagined him and Zoya ruling together but all of a sudden in the book, nikolai doesn't seem to want the throne (when that was his sole motive in the shadow and bone trilogy) and his change of heart felt very unnatural. I like Zoya but she can turn into a DRAGON now?? I feel like this breaks any sense of understanding and logic in the grishaverse. Anyways im also just done with her writing, its clear she lets her prejudice and opinions guide her instead of good storytelling. (she's definitely gonna kill off another crow in soc3)

I agree with every single thing you said, lb has some amazing characters but she has this favouritism with some of them also she doesn't really like people forming opinions which may not be like her. In Kos and row lb was really trying to force her opinions(not in a stuble way) and it kinda spoiled all the fun.

agree with most of what you said honestly. I'm seeing that most readers didn't enjoy the Darkling being brought back at all, his povs honestly bothered me quite a lot since I never liked him at all and most of the time I was like "why the hell are you here". I wasn't spoiled when going into this book, and I managed to get into it just fine I think. I totally agree with how messy the plot gets at times, there were too many POVs and at one point I had no idea what the fuck was happening and that left me very confused. It also surpised me since I really like how Leigh Bardugo handled the multiple POVs on SoC and CK, but this def wasn't the case. I did like the crows cameos despite the fact they were very obvious fanservice. And yes, Zoya and Nikolai carry everything on the duology.

I agree with you I think leigh hate the darkling and wants people to hate him 2 and love mal and wants people to love him too and she is being a child about it you should't try to control how people feel about you art that is stupid

I just finished Rule of wolves aka the whole GrishaVerse and I am done with Leigh Bardugo. King of scars was amazing and Rule of wolves was doing so well at first. But the ending. Really frustrated.

Is it worth to read this book? Because I'm so mad at how the author deals with the darkling, he is my fav character and it seems like she is always trying to control the readers emotions and thoughts, forcing me to hate the darkling. Aaargh I'm so mad, when I received a spoiler that the darkling was resurrected and was going to be redeemed I was so happy and interested, but then I found out how he was going to be "redeemed" and now I dont think I want to read this book anymore

I really can't understand why the darkling was acting so weird and off character in this book and his povs were really flat ,and the alina and mal meeting scene seemed so dumb,like i personally hate mal .He's so toxic and possessive.plus i disliked the way David was killed and the rest just say sad stuff ,it felt weird and not emotionally deep enough.Some things are still not wrapped up and r unfinished.Your review is 100% correct

do you think the reason behind bringing the darkling back to life in the king of scars duology is that the show runner were afraid that the darkling stand might not want to watch the show and they know how many in the fandom loved him so they brought him back and left his fate ambiguous in the final book of the grishavers yes they tell us what the heroes want to do with him but it ends before they Carry out with their plan it's like feak hope if that's true then they should be ashamed of themselves this is very cheap move milking all you can out of the cow you are planning to slaughter cuz I don't believe for one second that leigh will redeem him or let him live not after rule of wolves she is going to try her best to make us hate him and make him the worse personely I'm not watching session 3 and if the rumors are true that s2 will be six of crows then s3 will not just be ruin and rising but crooked kingdom too and I have no desire to watch that on TV and what to you think is the reason behind all the things we are teased about the darkling having siblings and baghra being alive?
@StillWaitingForMySatyr

I honestly dont know but I still think the only reason she brought him back was because as much as she hates him she also LOVES the character and doesn't understand him
