@@TurtleWargaming It's not an economic issue (it's probably less than 10c of toner for the whole rulebook), it's a quality and readability issue, for me at least. When printed on a grayscale printer the background reduces the contrast of the text making it harder to read (I'm far from my twenties now...) as well as creating a 'ghosting' effect after a few pages where the texture starts to smudge toner all over the place. Again, I think it looks dope on a screen, but it doesn't print well. I tried.

@@TurtleWargaming Unfortunately, as a pdf that doesn't work out. I had some success using OpenOffice Draw to remove the background myself but the new headers use a font that seems not to be embedded so they all disappear. I have read that when creating the pdf, there is apparently an option to set the background as 'non-printable' which would make it visible on digital devices but remove it when printing, a win-win situation. Hopefully, just an oversight that will soon be corrected.

Agreed! I don’t fully understand the change yet, but it’s nice to not have so many units running away. 😂

Yeah, I was really disappointed when I played KoW recently and the army builder is now half behind a paywall, even if I've already bought the book.

@@Good.Nuff.Gaming eh you could say the same of OPR really with the advanced books/build your own book. Though id def agree the value of a patreon subscription far exceeds that of mantics vault/companion app.

It's a tough rule to get right in any game system. In KoW there's no "wounds" and instead they just count morale as your wound limit.

Played a game recently where I got to use it a couple times. It was a lot less powerful that I thought. The -1 to quality almost negated the bonus for using both melee and shooting.

Agreed, One of the things that drove me away from GW was constantly having to buy and learn new rules. OPR being free is nice but it's still annoying to be constantly shifting gears.

This was addressed in the OPR livestream. I can see why people used to printing them out will be a bit annoyed, but i feel their points were valid & reasonable. Key points they made: Rules now being yearly means you aren't printing them that often. The core rules (the 2 sided "one page" rule sheet) is still intended to be print friendly as this is the sheet people are most likely to want to print out. Im sure comments about printability of this sheet would be received & considered. They won't be making print friendly versions of the beginners guide & advanced books. They wang these to be more interesting & professional & feedback says most people really don't print these out gicen the prevalence of difital drvices like tablets that they can be viewed on. I have to say i do agree with this approach myself... even tjoughi'll still print them out, i actually quite like those printed versions looking nicer. I think it is worth putting the counter point that the new design is not less printer friendly, modern printers are perfectly capable of printing these docs, its just less ink conservation friendly. Different people will have different priorities for the things they print put, & some (like me) will the final quality & visual appeal over ink use.

I don’t think it will be much different. Fearless is good for not being pinned, sorry shaken. This makes it so even armies with no Fearless can still do something

A 1K army could be 8x Assualt grunts with furious and 1x Veteran Warrior with Ambush, Flying, Regeneration, and 2x Serrated Blade weapon upgrades. Make it a 2K amry double that!

It has exactly the same stats, just used a different model.

Oh lawd...

It's a love-hate thing. Morale is a huge part of combat, but it's so hard to transfer that to the table without being meaningless or OP.
