@@StrateleStudios What I really love about this song is that it's essentially a chorus with bass solos as the "verses" and the production, especially on the backing vocals--they're warm and punchy at the same time. There's a big "Ah" or maybe it's a styled "I" in the pickup to the chorus refrain (uh of 4?), and it sounds so good--so full. If you ever get a chance to ask Jonah about how the vocals were produced/mixed, I'd love to see that.
Such a weird song. Killer chorus. No verses. Just 2 ridiculously awesome bass solos. Amazing. These guys just keep evolving. Every song is its' own thing. This...like...80s arena rock thing. The double bass...much different to their other material. I love it.
100%. The verse is a chorus and the chorus is a bass solo. In the sense that the 'chorus', as you've described it, serves the function of a verse / pre-chorus -- building the tension for what comes after, and not sounding implicitly satisfying in and of itself with how the arrangement is (sparse drums punctuating it etc.). But then somehow it still IS satisfying and IS actually like a chorus, and sounds glorious and powerful and catchy and anthemic. But then instead of the payoff of the build-up being some ever huger and catcher refrain, it's just a monster bass solo -- a completely non-vocal section (although the playing is super lyrical and your ear grabs onto it like it might do with a vocal). And then the key change and the modulation / variations in that section sort of function as a big solo towards the end of a track would. It's all over the shop, but then not at all, and I feel like it totally shouldn't work, but it absolutely does. So aside from their usual insane musicianship obviously in terms of just pure chops, what they've managed to do with the song structure here seems absolutely ridiculous.
I have listened to it 12 times in the past hour. They are playing here in Charlotte NC March 30,. This song is on a whole another level of powerful. I would love mix their shows on a huge line array fly rig.
It's a grand day today, isn't it, Jeff 😃! A new Dirty Loops right in our face. I was so happy I had to stand up while watching it. Love their video, too. Great hommage to the '80s. Made me a bit giddy. I first watched their channel, and the next one in my recommendations was yours. Nice to see you again. Looking sharp. Now I'll go put this new banger on repeat. Take care, Jeff. Cheers from Gitte in Sweden 👋😊✨
I dig it but I was really hanging to hear some vocal verses. I love this dude's voice it's one of the best in rock music, it's the reason I got into them, I just wanna hear him sing more. But they are doing their own thing and creating their own sound and I can respect that.
😍😍😍Ahhhh!! Extra all, all inclusive, deluxe! Amazing! 🙂Saw them live in Stockholm last September and it was fantastic! Want to hear/see this song live too, asap!! Hope all is good Jeff! Great reaction (as always)!
Thanks, Jeff. That was fun! I enjoyed seeing that old miniKorg synth from the '70s. I used to play one. I have tickets to their show in Vancouver on April 9th. Can't wait!
Besides the utter musical genius of these 3 men - (been following them for around 5 years and can NEVER get enough), can we take a moment to look at (as always) Aaron's brilliant video editing……is there anything this guy can't do? And yes, of course Jeff is the first one out with a review, he gets them like no other reviewer! I'll bet you've been waiting with bated breath as I have to hear/see what's next for my boys! My day is made.
I almost cry with this 80's funk rock style. The first time i saw them live in Amsterdam was 10 years ago. I am 60years but i feel like 18 again. Have fun.
I saw them at their first ever show in London recently. You’re in for a treat, I’ll just say that much. Enjoy and I hope you have the best evening. You’re so lucky to be in a position to meet them! 👊
They really have a sense of humor. This song is clearly not what we are used to, coming from them. Probably an opening for their tour in the states. As a joke.
One of the greatest reactions to this song, and as always such insightful commentary afterwards. I look forward to all of your upcoming Dirty Loops reactions for their new CD, can’t wait. And can’t possibly imagine how great the rest of that album will be…! Everything you’ve said here, spot on. Enjoy seeing them in concert next month, Jeff ☺️🤘👌🤟✌️ How lucky you are 🧡
Parody of them self, it’s DL humor 😂 Jonah - boyband look Aron - 80 rock drummer Henrik - bass alien 👽 The more times I watch the more it came clear. So funny I love them : )
And once again I am totally thrilled. These guys play like they're from another planet. 💫 Have a great time in LA at their show! I'm sure it will be great! ❤🔥
Love the over the top 80’s vibe 😂 they always bring some funny stuff. Love that this is like henrik goes crazy song. Awesome. Amazing playing by everybody P.S I’m going to see them in May here in Bergen, Norway. Can’t wait. I saw Aurora yesterday on the same place. She was fantastic as per usual 😊 so was the band!
That is just astonishing! I’m as huge a fan as you can be but Jesus, that bass line! Thanks for this, love your videos and pro reactions. That’s made my night ❤️
Coming to the "Official Dirty Loops Reaction Video Channel". The bass line IS the verse. How crazy creative the idea is! Synth and drum are incredibly tight. Henrik is scary, not only he's impossible for many to catch up, he is still evolving like an uncontrolled mutant!! I have to say the showmanship from all three has also become a totally new level. Thanks for your reaction and great analysis!
I really have to predict that using bass as the main voice for the verse of a song is some textbook-worthy innovation. One day we will see Dirty Loops' name for this.
Totally crushing it! ❤ Nice to hear a more rock:ish side. It works beautifully. Looking forward to seeing Henrik with Jonathan Lundbergs band on Saturday evening!
I'm so glad they put Henrik front and center on this track. Just when I think Ive seen it all with DL , they blow my mind again.. That's why I love these guys !
Hey Jeff! So when you say, "next level, cool specs, technical & catchy, wow, wow..." is that the same as me saying, "Ooh pop, Amped Up! Oh look, Jonah looks like Superstar Ken balancing between two keyboards! Go Aron, go go go man! Wait. Henrik?! WTF was THAT?! WHAT?!" 😂 These amazing Swedish dudes are killin' me! 😎😎😎
I LOVE the dramatic inspiring 1-5-6, 3-4-1 progression and the way this sounds particularly, as it checks every box. With a cannon. I am a lifelong bassist and I LOVE Henrik's talent, but it's going to take a couple listens to like this one. The song BEGGED for a powerful scooped beauty of a full deep bass track that gives you the goosebumps and perma-grin/stank/amazed face instead of the chaotic, "simply because you can" scrambled eggs solo. I'd love to see that done in a fun, light song rather than this otherwise anthem-esque number. It deserves to soar in dignity and ridiculous grace. Using this ethereal track with that (awesome) cheeky lead mess is like doing door dash in a Bugatti.
This just came out and I immediately found your's. What a great coup, you might be the first. I couldn't have wished for a better reactor for this wild, wonderful new song.
Yours is the reaction I’ve been waiting for. After watching your reaction to Next To You, I was hooked. I love your authenticity and appreciation for this spectacular group of world class musicians. Can’t wait for them to release more songs. I’ll be back here listening with you. 🙌🏻
You looked like a kid in candy store my friend. I was just like that when I first got into Dirty Loops a few years back.. Keep putting up the great work brother.
When you have three phenomenal musicians that have each done waaaaay more than their 10,000 hours in their craft and then add in QJ production value…this is what you get. Incredible. Absolutely incredible.
This really give some Rocky rock music vibe there, just listening the first time when it gets into the intro, feels like Rocky is just running and training hard in a cold winter day
Was lucky to se them in Pattaya Thailand 1 week ago. They are as good live as you see them in the studio recordings. I got tears in my eyes... Im not suppriced what these guys can come with later include this new song.
I’m going to see them here in Atlanta, can’t wait! The only thing you didn’t mention as being top notch was the videography in the song. I wonder of Aron did the video on this song cause it is excellent.
You want more? We all want more! I'vve been wanting more all the time for the past several years. Dirty Loops has been and is my favourite band by far, by very, very far. 😍🤩💖💞❤🔥🎇🥇⭐🌟
You’re looking fit ‘n healthy, my fiend. Always appreciate your enthusiasm when reacting to DL. Seems like homages to the 80’s are all over this video. One of them is Henrik’s very Cheap Trick-like, double-necked bass, which isn’t used when he’s shredding like Eddie Van Halen.
Your reaction to Henrik’s hummingbird fingering is PRICELESS!!! The NYC show is 10 days away and I’m soooooo excited and nervous to meet them!!!! Plans are still in the works for a trip to LA!!!
Always love your reactions, that special timbre in your voice that comes along when you emotionally and musically react to these videos, it's just awesome. This song was like an 80's movie soundtrack combined with the usual DL craziness that we all love. And the SOUND, that THICK, vibrating sound from bass/keys/drums when they come together on the accents... WOW. Great stuff, and thank you for everything you do, watching your reactions is like coming home, in the land of musical emotions! Btw, the last thank you:s in the credits were for Serla Toilet Paper, Fonus (a funeral home), Delicato (a brand of Swedish fika/goodies) and Weight Watchers. :)
It´s face melting time again!!! Henrik is now officially obsessed by His Pinkness ;-) This is Dirty Loops assaulting Barbie´s world! Btw... the funny stuff happens at the BEGINNING (pun intended) of the credits and your reaction is the first and fastest on YT - as it should be!!!
The lyric writing is incredible too. Their originals in terms of the lyrics are amazing and an underrated side of this band. Harmonically and melodically, the vocals are great but his writing is so good too.
I want to thank Dirty Loops for ruining my day Especially Henrik!! I have been playing the drums for 55 years. Now I'm going to torch them and go buy a Bass!!!!!!! WTF. 🥴🤘🤘🤘
Dirty Loops is the ultimate in exquisiteness, good taste, quality, precision and everything in absolute harmony... I love this band! But there is an Argentine band that the world should know more about... it is Soda Stereo, an Argentine band formed by Gustavo Cerati on vocals and guitars, Zeta Bossio, on bass and Charly Alberti on drums... See the "You Will See Me" Tour come back" from 2007, you won't regret it!
as a drummer just hearing this song... the drummer is so tight keeping it alll together. And I do not agree with all of their stuff but ,,, My gosh this is a whole nother level.
