In this Google Cloud platform tutorial, I’ll be showing you how to install WHM and Cpanel using Vm instance on Google Cloud. This GCP tutorial contains a brief overview of cpanel which you can manage static website, wordpress website and php site on one vm instance.

if sudo whmlogin does not work for you, then you must wait. The installer is still running in the background and can take 20 more min. You can type sudo su - to watch the progress.

Hello @StuffedBox thanks for this awesome tutorial. I have used cpanel / whm for years but newbie to google cloud. I followed your steps but got stuck here: when entering: "sudo whmlogin" I get "whmlogin command not found" then did a basic check of the whm service: "sudo systemctl status cpanel" and get: "Unit cpanel.service could not be found." I destroyed and repeat the deployment, and I get the same. with cpanel Linux (centos) and cpanel AlmaLinux, and arrive to the same. Might be the image is corrupted, or I'm missing something ? Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

@@vlhbnk good new: I could overcome it, not so good new, I only can remember to reboot and retry the procedure, nothing specific. Also, I run a similar template on digitalocean and it went fine on the 1st time.

@@dinerodigitalip I was finally able to do it. CentOS does not support new versions on CPANEL, so I had to change the version of CPANEL. You have to let the installation fail and then you login, change the version and rerun install. Worked good for me.

Maybe I missed it during the video, but in the " General information" section of cpanel it says " primary Domain ( self-signed certificate) in red. When I clicked on the fix symbol I get sent to the ssl page and am told I don't have a dedicated up address. How do I fix that? I have a wordpress site already that I set up a few months ago and all I wanted was an easier way to update my php when needed.( Hence cpanel through Google cloud). How do I https my cpanel and make things more secure when I'm trying to update? I did find everything else helpful though. Thank you.

After installing exactly like the video showing I wasn’t able to login to whm at all. I kept getting an invalid user and password. Also looked online for solutions, couldn’t really find one. Is anybody else having the same problem?

I had that problem too. I figured out that the user name is root then the password is what you set it to before. I'm still having problems securing my cpanel to https though. The IP address for my cpanel isn't static.

@@StuffedBox I did, but for some reason my cpanel account is still not secure. It has no https. Im still trying to figure out why and where I went wrong.

Does google cloud offer the full range of services like a custom email with IMAP that matches my domain? so basically we dont need to use these pricey hosting services at all anymore for small business sites?

They have Google Workspace, price is about $7 per user per month. I think that's pretty affordable. Are you looking for something cheaper?
