My memory is that this mash-up revived Aerosmith’s career back when MTV actually played music videos.

When this came out all I could say was thank God. And it's about time long past 2, so so thanks to run DMC and Aerosmith for putting it down. They're the kings of smooth and I and I think so many. Hip-hop and rap bands should collab with some other hardcore music talents. Because mixing this stuff up is fun

Kids of today don't realize how revolutionary this was. Hell, they probably have never even heard this song, but it truly changed music. And I don't care what anyone says, it's still a great video even today.

The youngens will never understand the importance of this video in hip hop/rock in roll history. This was the first time something like this had ever been attempted. It brought mainstream recognition to Run DMC and it revitalized the has been rock group Aerosmith! It was a beautiful moment in 80s music!

All these years later, it is still amazing that this not only launched Run DMC, but resurrected Aerosmith. Truly remarkable.

This is a perfect integration of two genres of music.

I never forget when this came out; we went absolutely NUTS... craziest thing I had ever heard up until then; my all time favourite collab of two very different genres. I was no stranger to the compelling beats and rhymes of Hip Hop; so in that way the tune was already great. But man, when I heard those guitars, and that type of primal scream singing voice from Steven Tyler, I was driven wild.... Yeah, I had likely heard the music genre through radio before that, I guess, but this really, really caught my attention. The whole collab was just sick on another level. I have Run DMC and Aerosmith to thank for this intoduction to an entirely different kind of music; them and Public Enemy (they used a sample from Slayer's Angel of Death as a backing for their tune 'She Watches Channel Zero'...). These people really opened my ears.

I remember the times when this came out: Rock was one thing and Rap was a completely another world. This went so far that people beat another up because of different music styles. And then these guys put everything together and made one the coolest tracks ever. Times were good back then. It's like fairytales becoming true to create a better world. I wish something like this would happen again to bear down all the hate, which is out there...

You can't overstate the impact that Run DMC had on hip-hop as well as the coming fusion of hip-hop and rock...

I remember I was 14 when this came out. Nobody had ever thought of putting these two bands together before. It was new, revolutionary, and yes, there were a few who didn't like it, but it was GREAT!! A pity rock & rap didn't do more collaborations.

I know that this is "old",...but it's still great and a lot of fun. Nice to see different people and musical tastes getting along and making fun and music together. God bless and keep us all. Be kind, tolerant and nice to each other. One planet,....one human race.

I actually wish we had more rock/rap collaborations. They always go well. PE and Anthrax, Jay-Z and Linkin Park...but this is the original. Legitimately one of the most important tracks in the history of hip hop because it gave it crossover legitimacy.

Man this video is epic. What makes it even more epic is the fact that at the time combining rap and rock like this was complete bizarre and unheard of. Rap was still considered underground street nonsense to the mainstream so this was influential in making hip hop a household pop culture name.

I love how they don’t try to flex or outdo one another, but celebrate and encourage each other to go even harder. Back when music was actually good and meant something and not all these fake falsettos and mumbling.

RUN DMC singlehandedly revived Aerosmith from LIFE SUPPORT. AEROSMITH helped introduce Hip-hop to a whole new group of fans. It was and still is in my mind the single greatest mixed genre song of all time!

I was born in 2001 and my parents loved classic rock (especially Aerosmith), so I grew up with this. When I heard this version of Walk This Way, I was a little confused, but I knew I liked it. Now I’m 20 years old and realize that this song was actually a big deal when it was first released. I can see why, and I wish there were more songs like this.
