this song is the reason I choose to play organ and this is the first tutorial I have found that shows how to do the solo in a way that breaks it down and I am able to grasp the sequences. THANK YOU!
I remember when the song first came out in the 60s, we had to struggle for long time to learn and keep on playing the 45record. it is so cool to find your videos.
Great lesson. Well organized. Max Crook used a “heavily modified” Clavioline for the original organ solo. Called it a “Musitron”. Would anyone know how it was modified?
Was played on a custom built Clavioline, a kinda sorta hybrid organ with Zero polyphony. Players had to be Fast. Check out Joe Meeks ability on the original Telstar.
I THINK if you play this on a combo organ sound, like Vox or Farfisa, You don't need the E/F trill. That's done with vibrato on the organ and it's a single E note. Great job though.
The original instrument apparently was a custom made keyboard instrument called a Musitron. You can hear the pitches slide between the notes played. This to me is more of a moog organ affect. I would patch up a thinner moog organ patch, or an organ patch that has that slide affect between the notes. When I made this I thought it was a Farfisa organ. I was wrong.
Hey so sorry, I realized I never made part 1 available to the public. It is now! Have at it to learn how I play the verses and choruses :) Good luck! - Shamwow
