The bed idea is excellent! With drawers and/or storage. I have a few tarps on board now. May get one really big one to cover entire camper. I have added my rocket stove. It is in another video. Thanks for all the ideas Brother!

Thanks for the tips on what to store inside of the camper. Now, I'm really excited! 14 more days and mine will be ready! May cross paths on the road one day. Peace and blessings

Thanks Anthony! Great video! I love camping and backpacking, but am getting older so I bought a pop up (used) and mine has a special place for everything also and it all fits perfectly like yours! Until I the water system checked, (just a sink) i used a 7 gallon jug with a spigot that hid inside until needed. It worked just like having a sink. May fit under your bench. Looks like you served, thank you for doing so!

really like this set up. One of the things people up here north do with the mini campers is use a ez-up canopy with walls, a screened tent or even a large 6-8 person tent and attach it or put it next to the doorway to have extended living space/cooking space or bug free zone. While winter camping once I saw a couple with a 6x10 utility trailer as a stealth camper had a canvas wall tent next to it with a small yukon stove heating both.

I'm impressed, simple, warm and dry is all you need. This isn't much more expensive than a Leer camper shell for a pickup truck and offers a lot of customizing potential. I wish we had something like it in Colorado, but the cheapest teardrops you can find or camper shells run around 4-6k.. I bet it would cost as much to ship one out here as to just buy it, otherwise I'd think real hard about it.

Nice work ,its amazing what you don't need. My only suggestion would be to use space for time tested tools as much as possible .Axes saws and shovels hammer etc. Also water storage and collection. I think this an awesome unit , keep it evolving and good luck.

Man that's a cool camper... I don't know how I missed this video but man this thing is awesome! So now I got it in my head that I need to make one of these... When my money gets right I'm going to start shopping around for a trailer... I'll have to install a very small wood stove too...

Thanks for the advice. I am working on a solar panel set up and a generator. I have an electric hookup for the AC to plug in at any campground right now. The generator and solar panel will be a great addition. Thanks for watching. Anthony.
@WillysOverland
@WillysOverland 8 лет назад
I did a 4000 watt whisper generator that runs all night on 1 gallon of fuel. This powers the AC unit. I also have a 1500 watt inverter hooked to 2 marine batteries and a solar panel system on the roof. This powers a refridge, microwave, croc pot, 24" tv and my Xbox1 lol. I built a shelf 2x6 foot wide that has legs and is hinged to to the wall. The legs fold in when the platform is folded up and this is like a old style hideaway bed. I have rhino lined the floor. I built a extra space behind the camper ( I used my own trailer instead of ordering one with wheels) this area holds 2 propane tanks, and has a small camper grill built in. Ill send pics when its all completely done.

Several paint and solvent companies market the 196 proof (98% pure Wood Alcohol) so what ever brand of paint or mineral spirits or turpentine they carry they usually carry the Shellac Thinner in the same brand. Mix it half and half with clean water for antiseptic use on scrapes not for deep puncture wounds as first aid. Also if you use the little cans in the folding cook stoves, refill them for several uses by adding some cotton rag as a wick and pour half full with the alcohol. Good Luck !

I don't know if you ever camp by a river or a lake, but I think some fishing gear would be a great asset! I think fishing is fun not to mention a great food source, especially if you like fish, if not you can throw them back! By the way, that's an awesome little camper and setup you have there! Thanks showing us!!

Thanks for your recommendations. I am looking into solar and battery back-up system, but have not implemented anything yet. I do use Esbit stoves quite a bit as they do not leave any smoke or can even switch to alcohol. I understand what you say about keeping smells down during SHTF. That is an important topic. Stay Ready. Anthony.
@biblesnbarbells
@biblesnbarbells 11 лет назад
Thanks for watching Joe. This camper is perfect for me and the price was right. The guy that makes them is from Ocala, Florida. You can check out his website or Runaway Campers on Facebook. You can install a small cube heater in this unit and be fine.
@badbadbob1
@badbadbob1 9 лет назад
Water filtration, cooking system and food like rice and beans. They last a long time in vacuum sealed bags. Forget any type of cooler. If SHTF, no one will have ice cream. Cooking over a fire will give your hide out away. It is better to find like minder people to hide with. A wash system for outdoor is a must. Look up bucket sink and add it to your bug out trailer.

It 5:15 and I' up getting ready to do some homework. You asked for some comments and suggestions. Toilet paper would be the first thing that I would suggest. Second would be to go to Wal-Mart Lowes or Home Depot and find a small composting toilet. Usually they can be found in the outdoor section at Wal-Mart. Save plastic grocery bags they can be compressed, light weight, and take up no space. A bucket to keep the fecal mater in with a lid and of course more Duck Tape Thank you for your time.

For more outside storage, add a receiver hitch on the back of the frame and put a shelf there. They are commercially. Add a 2nd tote or just strap things down. Might be a good place fir a small generator.

Adding those roof mount crossbars (similar to Yakima, Thule, etc.) will greatly add to the versatility. These have different mounts for bikes, kayaks, carrier baskets etc. Had a Yakima system way back in my 20's when had a little compact sedan. A Little trailer like this is perfect for these as the height is low so easy to load & unload. There are also much cheaper off brands for crossbar units. Get a cheap $2 plastic dishpan from Wal-Mart or Target to use as a sink and all purpose washing container, when not in use it will serve as a handy storage container. Good Luck with the R-Pod, checked those out, those aren't cheap, very nice TT's but most of them also have the tiny "wet baths" not too thrilled about. My new compact Keystone TT with the queen bed up front, kitchen area and dinette in middle, twin bunks & a dry bath in rear with a sink & counter & medicine cabinet (rare in this common floorplan, often will just be the tub/shower & toilet) several $$$K's cheaper, sleeps up to 5 comfortably. Many Happy and Safe Trails!

@biblesnbarbells 7 лет назад
Thanks for your comments Paul. I sold this little Runaway Camper about 3 years ago when I moved into an apartment. Then I recently purchased the R-Pod. Love the R-Pod and have had no issues using the wet bath as I am only 5' 10" and 200 lbs. I bigger person could have an issue moving around. I think I have seen your mode camper. Those get very good reviews. I think down the road we are going to get a small class C like 24 feet. Maybe in a few years. Safe travels to you and Stay Ready!

Nice one Anthony - when you get it set up close to the way you want it it would be good to see a test of how quick you can hook it up to your truck and throw in the gear you don't keep in it. Here in the bushfires when we had mandatory evacuations they gave you 5 minutes, no more, to grab n go.

Anthony, great video - thanks. First off you are an excellent public speaker. Obviously without a script you kept going with a constant flow of super ideas and advice - very smoothly. I am looking to get a Runaway and awaiting response from them. I will be helped by many of your ideas. Here's a water idea. Use a shorter toolbox and put a 5 gallon water dispenser in the corner. Top loading ones have about a 12x12 inch footprint. You'd need a bungy to ensure it stays upright but now you have a purified water system that requires no power. I also plan to have a drain pipe. Some of these will also heat water if you connect power. Maybe my idea is flawed but that's the fun we'll see. THANKS.
@biblesnbarbells
@biblesnbarbells 10 лет назад
Thanks for your comments Ralph. Sometimes I can go on and on. Lol. Most of my vids are unscripted and I just go with the flow. Glad to hear you are in the process of getting a Runaway. I had to sell mine when I moved to an apartment in May of this year. I am hoping to get another one soon if I can figure out where to keep it. The water idea sounds very good and if it can be pulled off will give you a water source outside the camper. Let me know when you get your camper. Take care. Anthony.
@ralphhross
@ralphhross 10 лет назад
biblesnbarbells Anthony, actually I meant to put the water cooler inside the camper on the left as you come in the door. I think I can also add a drain. Idea is to be able to clean hands or make coffee and then dump excess down a sink/drain. Take care and good luck on getting your next camper.

I have a Rocket Stove by StoveTec that I use for group cooking. Runaway is very easy to tow and it is stable. You will love it. Fits in the garage also.

How about some type of tarp or canopy system for some shade, and a place to sit outside if it's raining? wouldn't be hard to make, and not very expensive. Also, if you camp in colder weather, it's nice to have some wood cut up and stored for a small campfire. good luck, great setup.

I would make a platform bed for your sleeping bag with draws underneath, and as a test get a rubber maid 3-4 draw cabinet for more storage, this may sound crazy but a tarp to set up if it rains and you have to cook and if it rains a small butane stove to cook quick,a few road flares,rocket stove(?), a can of flat fix,some tools,collapsible water bucket,WD-40 spray,looks like if you build in a bed you might be better off with a snad chair than a bench, use it before you make permanent changes

Under the bench I'd use the space to put canned food and Roman noodles, stuff like that under it. And you need fishing equipment like poles and gear, if you're worried about space, you can get the telescope poles at collapse. And put them behind the bench.

Solar is ok but you could just charge off your vehicle- and LED would virtually never run down. I like the other comments on raising the bed platform and adding drawers for more storage- if not roughing it a small DVD player would be fun- another though is a small generator- run only when needed to charge up -also small computer fans could help cric air in the summer ie low draw and usable when the AC isn't an option
@biblesnbarbells

Several have recommended that I do this. I am going to look at doing this in the next few months. I agree, it will increase storage space. Please reconsider the "Denatured Alcohol" it is usually Denatured by adding gasoline, A better choice is 196 proof Methyl Alcohol (wood alcohol) you still can not drink it so you won't be considered a bootlegger. But, it contains no gasoline. It is sold as Shellac thinner or alcohol torch fuel and is available in metal screw top cans from paint stores. And does not add any gasoline taste to your food, and can be used for first aid too just don't drink it or the denatured either.
