In what could have been a terrible accident, my Father-in-law tries to subdue a runaway team of horses. Fortunately only minor damage occured. All I could do was to keep taping and mutter a few useless phrases.
That was one of the real dangers of farming in the good old days. My grandfather had a team run away on one occasion, where the one mare (Belle), ran face first into a tree in a fence row. She was skinned up bad, and permanently blinded from the impact. My Dad had a team run away for him with a bob sled. He tried to catch them, stumbled, fell, and gut a partial haircut from one of the runners. It did knock some sense into his thick head, and got him eight stitches. Hopefully none of the four in this video were injured during the smash-up at the end. Be careful around horses and their fears. Run away teams and bulls have killed a lot of good men.
0:30 is when he asked for it. You DONT just throw down a horses reins-im talking ONE SADDLE HORSE, this idiot hadnot 1, not 2 not 3 but jesus christ 4 large work horses and he wants to just toss the reins down like that.. Prime example of what NOT to do. Glad your carelessness didnt cause them to get hurt, atleast.
The loose ponies didn't help, possibly? that small one was getting very close to the [harrow??] 0and that gate on it's side could have resulted in broken legs of the horses. Looked like two horses was all that was needed, and a groom ought to have been at the horse's heads if they were at all flighty like this.. hope none were injured.
They could very easily runaway if you were careless, foolish, and stupid enough to leave it in gear with the motor running and then climb out of the seat!!! Just another, Here, hold my beer and watch this moment!!! Plagues and pandemics are very useful in thinning the herd!!! Maybe the Covid-19 Pandemic is very useful after all!!!
Amish of Pennsylvania use Belgians...and this is a proud breed. Handler thinking he has beaten a Belgian into submission should watch out for what can happen next. Every once in a while...every few years...an Amish farmer is killed by a Belgian horse. Those poor Standardbred carriage horses might be beaten into submission. Belgian draft horse will wait for his opportunity for revenge.
