I feel for the Guard who was thrown off his horse and the horse that was injured. I think it’s about time these poor horses and guards are shown more respect and stop the incessant constant touching and teasing the horses all the time. I think the horses have had enough. Give them space for goodness sake. Hope theGuard and horses are ok.
no-one was touching or teasing the horses , they were spooked by builders working in the yard and the horse that was injured was a police horse not a guards horse.
@@george-ev1dq What were they working on in the yard? Horses spook so easily why were they doing the work while the horses were out in the boxes can’t they do this at a time when the horses are back at the Hyde park barracks? 😊
personally I would not be able to put up with the horiific behaviour of those disrespectful tourist for 5 minutes. My sympathy is with the troopers and the horses
@@JulieSims-ug8fi I see your point...but WHO is agreeing to these lovely animals and muched loved military personnel being left in such a conflicting and degrading position? Are they military par excellence 9r circus attractions?...because the latter seems the case to me more recently.
@@deb1587 They are a tourist attraction, there s no reason to be guarding a building compound in 2024 with these horses and swords, allowing people to annoy them and young guys with not so great horsemanship ride them. It's abuse.
This is an ACTIVE DUTY Barracks for The King's Life Guards! They live here - there's a large STABLE FOR THE ACTIVE DUTY HORSES!! WHY SHOULDN'T THEY ENJOY THEIR HOMES??? TEACH STUPID, ARROGANT, ENTITLED TOURISTS MANNERS BEFORE THEY'RE ALLOWED NEAR THESE OFFICERS!!! THE HORSES AND THE OTHER ACTIVE DUTY PERSONNEL AREN'T AT FAULT!!!! IT STUPID PEOPLE WITHOUT BOUNDARIES THAT ARE THE PROBLEMS!!! YOU DON'T BLAME THE HOME OWNER WHEN THEY STAND ON THEIR PROPERTY -WHAT MAKES YOU SOUND LIKE THEY SHOULD BE BLAMED?? I WOULDN'T BLAME MY LARGE GSD'S IF SOMEONE VIOLATED MY/OUT SPACE AND GOT BITTEN!! MY PROPERTY - BEHAVE APPROPRIATELY, OR FACE YOUR CONSEQUENCES!!!! NOT TOO MANY PEOPLE TAKE ON 110 LB, 118 lb, 120 LB GSD'S AND A 90 LB BLACK LAB MIX!!! NOT TO MENTION 2 - 16 LB CATS WHO NEVER BACKED DOWN!! Unfortunately travel agents have made it look so and then there is the local economy that thrive on tourists. The best thing to do is having some type of barrier so people cant close to the horses. Why do they have a gift shop there? Im not real familiar with all the tradition's but Im trying to..
Some of these tourists... Seem to forget that the Royal guards and horse are on duty.. They are fully trained soldiers.. It's Not Disney land.. Pls show some respect... They're not there to entertain those tourists.. Or for photo shoots...
looks more like Disney land, who would believe in 2024 that a person dressed in a period costume with boots they can barely walk in and a sword ad horse would be capable of protecting anything.
Sorry I must be ignorant but what is a gang sign ? Oh this whole thing is so upsetting. Police must be tougher on these rude tourists. I dont even know why some traveled to England as they seem to be very nasty towards British culture and history .
@@margaretWestminsterself-centered ungrateful attitudes why? Great Britain bends over backwards free lodging, free healthcare, free food. What on earth is wrong with people? Were some of them from lack of proper guidance growing up never taught “don’t bite the hand that feeds you”? Why do they stay..because they have no where else to go that would treat them as well. So some cheat and steal in their gratitude which makes them all look bad.
I think the horses are trying to tell us something. They have had enough of being in this circus with the public being allowed to be too close and touching them all the time. Enough is enough!
Theyve had enough of very noisy demos with megaphones and drums and screaming & shouting. These horse are bred especially in Ireland. picked for their calm nature and trained not to be afraid of music, cannons fired etc..
Now will someone use some common sense, and stop the bloody tourists. No going near the horses or the guards, everyone stands at a distance behind barriers, no taking photos with the horses, no walking through the grounds. After all this is a military base with soldiers and working military horses. Stop the crazy people. I am so upset after seeing the horses loose and bloodied. I wonder if this is when the hoses made a run for it.
I don't think so, although it does coincide very coincidentally. The stray horses were saddled and Royal Guards horses have a so-called bearskin instead of a saddle.
I think the horses were spooked by somebody working on a building site. The horses were on exercise drill when someone dropped concrete on the ground. Don't quote me on it, I heard the tailend of a news reader on the radio. Like you I am worried about everyone involved in the incident. Hopefully, a RU-vidr will find more info.
I saw the footage of the two horses galloping down Whitehall. I wanted too cry when I saw the grey covered in blood. Thank goodness both horses were stopped in time.😢
After all these rowdy parades being allowed to disconcert the horses it’s time for a rethink where barriers keep people away before we’re picking tourists out of horse’s hoofs .
Well they were on duty in the box a few days ago when the Palestine protesters came through the courtyard without notifying the guards and waving a flag in the horses face!!! Absolute disgrace really. They controlled the horse brilliantly. But shouldn't be allowed at all. This happened a day or two before the MOD building was vandalised by reckless idiots!!!
One of the dark horses ran into a bus and smashed the windshield. I saw the video. I'm not sure how the white horse was injured. Was there another bus?
@@joanhuffman2166 Not sure . I just seen the vid about the horse that hit the bus about an 1hr ago . Maybe the other one hit the taxi dont know but hope everyone is ok and the horses.
@@neilsouthern321Please could you tell me where the video is to watch? I feel so badly for the horses. I love the horse guards but the tourists need to be stopped or not allowed to pass bollards and things should be made safer in general.
@@janicechalmers1664 indeed...these highly selected and highly trained horses and soldiers are not circus attractions are they? How disgusting and belittling they have to put up with this!!! Whose idea is this and who still supports it I wonder? ⚡⚡
Yes, and many are very young. Although they go through thorough training, a horse is still a horse, of course and they get bored and scared and they shouldn't be used for this purpose until they get older and more broken in. IMO Of course!
Five horses bolted today, one Grey was covered in blood after collision with a car or bus four others were found and held by members of the public and one of those was found 5 miles away in East London. A trooper seems to have been badly hurt and some members of the public. Several vehicles were damaged also. This is the worst incident with these horses since the IRA bombing and murder. When fifteen mounted soldiers of the Household Cavalry were in Hyde Park on their way to change the guard near Buckingham Palace when a remote-controlled car bomb was detonated, blasting them with nails and other shrapnel. Four men and seven horses were killed, and many more were injured. Sefton, one of the horses was peppered with shrapnell but managed to gallop back through traffic to Knightsbridge Barracks and his own stall.
It was not the horses on ceremonial duty - but they did upset two of them who were on the way to Horseguards. The incident was with a separate troop that involved street training. And as you say they were spooked by workmen moving concrete on a conveyor belt; must have been a hell of a noise, and very different to the street noises they have been trained to deal with. Very unusual circumstances. Our best wishes to the troopers involved; both riders and horses.
I'm stunned by the accessibility of the working men, women, and animals of the King's Guard. These are professional, elite soldiers for crying out loud. This is not a kind nor gentle world we're living in today (2024). The public should be relegated to the opposite side of the street. No more public access at all.
I just seen the heart braking vedio, of the horses that were running in town of Londan!!!! How are they and the guard and others who were injured? Prayers ALL are ok🙏🙏🙏 Please forgive me for asking here, but im very concerned for the horses and humans involved. I live here in America, I watch and visit here with you all every day. Thank you God Bless
For all the people calling for tourists to be kept away! The troopers love it! It is part of the reason that they chose their respective regiment! And as an ex soldier myself, I can assure you that I would rather be standing guard there with the interest of watching people etc, pretty girls etc than guarding some outpost in the middle of nowhere, without much hope of seeing a soul for hours on end.
So, sounds like construction workers dropped a concrete slab nearby, horse was spooked, rider fell. They bolted out of there, 2 of them, the white horse bleeding profusely on the chest and ran into the street. Were rounded up an hour later. The black horse collided with a taxi but appeared ok. Four people were taken to the hospital.
This incident had nothing to do with tourists. The videos are wdited to show incidents between tourists and Horse Guards. Recently, I was in London and visited Horse Guards 4 times nothing happened during those times. Telling the tourists not to touch the horses would help. In the '70's we were not allowed to touch them
There are signs which tell tourists that the horses could bite or kick and don’t touch the reins but it makes no difference.People in the 70s had respect which doesn’t exist today. And the three main films are making a career out of standing there all day every day to catch all the mistakes and incidents that happen.😡😡😡
Beautiful horses 🐎. They are sooooo well trained. There officers are also highly trained officers. The public need to understand they are doing a job. They are not there as a tourist attraction. The mere fact they are allowing the general public is a credit to them. The horses are so well trained. hats off to the kings 💂♂️ 💂♀️ and special armed forces.
It really shows how pathetic people can be , how would they like it if crowds of people stood around them watching them trying to work, they should be told to move on and stop distracting the horses
Too many tourists around them, honestly too much. Horses are extremely sensitive creatures and they go through so much as guardian the country. I have so much respect for both the officers and horses. They really must put a stop to visitors. It's not a circus 🎪
I believe the guards can stand by themselves and give the horses rest....running free at a huge farm. Tourists are such a pain and shouldn't be allowed near the horse and rider.
Only a matter of time. People have no respect for anything today. Hope all the horses are ok bless them. Put the people behind bars, oops sorry behind barriers
I watched a video a couple of weeks ago and the narrator said the hours were 2 on 4 off. Just repeating what I heard. It's still a long time for both the guard and the horse, and very irritating and annoying.
@@pizzyb2595 • Whoever said that could not have been talking about the horses, as they only work for an hour at a time. The footguards (the Chitsman and the Gatesman) can be on duty for two hours, so the narrator was most likely talking about them. You should remember that the Guards are fully trained, fully fit, soldiers and are quite capable of standing on sentry duty for two hours...especially when they can pace up and down to ease aching leg muscles.
Is this something to do with the horse's from the Household Cavalry that bolted in London without the riders on them, the grey horse looked in a terrible state blood all down it's chest and legs apparently ran into the front of a bus. Other cars were damaged too, so poor horse's must be hurt. Hope all horse's and their riders made a full recovery. X
Separate incident that just so happened to occur on the same morning. The Household Cavalry consists of two mounted regiments, the Life Guards regiment in the red uniform, with white helmet plume, and the Blues and Royals regiment in the dark blue uniform with red plume. Today is change over between the regiments on guard duty at Horse Guards on Whitehall where this was filmed. Normally, the relieving "Short Guard" (called that because it has fewer horses and doesn't have either a mounted trumpeter on a grey horse along or an NCO carrying the regimental colour) arrives, having ridden up from Hyde Park Barracks where the Household Cavalry based in London. They arrive at the parade ground which is on the other side of the tunnel, there's a quick salute, with usually only 5 horses coming into the stable so that they can then relieve the 2 horses already on duty and also change the foot guards on duty at the 2 gates inside the yard. Once that is done, the relieved guards take their horses out onto the parade ground where they join the other half of the regiment before there's the formal salute/exchange of regiments and the rest of the relieving regiment come into the yard and stables. The relieved regiment then rides back to Hyde Park Barracks. Clearly, there was a big problem when the LIfe Guards relieving Short Guard arrived at the parade ground, with troopers thrown and horses running free and possibly injured. It all appears to have occurred on the Parade Ground at Horse Guards. The injured trooper who walked in had clearly fallen onto the sand of the parade ground. The horses running through London were from an earlier incident which happened near Victoria Station, closer to Hyde Park, but not on the route taken by the this relieving Life Guards Short Guard. It was horrible seeing the distressed and injured horses from that incident and the more severely injured trooper who appeared to have fallen onto the concrete median strip in the middle of the road. The grey that was bleeding so badly had hit the front windscreen of a bus I think.
It was on morning exercise duty that's why there were no saddles on some. Panicked by builders rubble coming down a chute as they passed.Nothing to do with this.@@heatherharvey3129
I live in the States and I am amazed at all the tourists who behave like idiots the damn sign is right there and nobody pays attention. These men and the horses should be protected somehow before one of these men and horse gets hurt!!
Being thrown from your horse happens to the best riders . Both fortunately appear uninjured , unlike his boots which will need some polishing ! What happened earlier to the horses running through London seems unclear , I've seen different reports all saying different things , most concerning was the blood on the grey and an injured Trooper . I did see that the horses were successfully caught and are receiving veterinary care . I'm sure the Trooper is also receiving full care as well , though not from the vets !
its inhuman that people are allowed to touch the horses they are working and don't need to be mauled and the guards that certain people we all know who I am referring to are allowed to mock and harass the royal guards its demeaning and disrespectful to not only the guards and the country.Take the picture and move on .King Charles needs to change either give the guards permission to tell those people to move on and the police to make sure they do. The needs to be amended to do not touch the horses they are working just like no one can touch a service animal. Also take a picture and move on or you will be moved no exceptions.
A cement lorry unloading made laud noises when cement splashed on the road. Horses were spooked! Horses get spooked every day thankfully not all like today.
Why do these people look up to the kings Guard and give such a disrespectful look? Also a lot of tourists thin that what they see has been put on for them something like disneyland London, not realizing tha these are well trained army personel.
Se supone que es un país "civilizado". Cómo puede ser posible que todavía seamos testigos del maltrato animal sobretodo en ese país?. Da vergüenza ajena 🥺
Grew up raising and training horses in Texas. Unfortunately, sometimes things happen then horse and/or rider gets hurt. Most of the time, it’s fine. Just goes with horsemanship. Notice the sign, “Beware, Sometimes Horses Will Kick Or Bite”. Best not invade a horse and rider’s personal space unless invited. That horse has good patience and manners to not reach over and bite someone’s ear off.
As I understand news reports, this happened very early morning prior to first shift of the day, correct? Let’s not blame until we have FACTS. I wasn’t there and can’t only learn what media reports or our faithful photographers show us.
These people keep putting their hands under the horses nose. What for? Are they putting powered drugs on their hands. That would be no surprise. People are weird.
If you asked if you can take a photo of these working horses just stand near them with out getting to close to them and please do it quickly and quiet because if you are to loud you can scare these hard working horses
I wondered if the dropping of the concrete at that particular time was purely coincidental. But of course we shall never know. I’ve experienced bored workmen intentionally making a loud noise when I was riding by. I don’t think it was malicious, just ignorant
All these comments about the tourists touching the horses etc. it’s not an incident related to the horses in the boxes but horses in the parade ground.
Not a good day for horses in Central London. Hope the ones who bolted and got injured are now ok after seeing the vet. But very scary and traumatic for sure!! Hope injured soldiers and innocent bystanders who were hurt will make a speedy recovery too. Need to watch out and NOT spook guards on duty and exercise!! They have a difficult job enough as it is!! Think before you approach.
Hope all is well now with guard and horse. Do we know the cause of the fall out of curiosity? Can someone advise me on the length of service that the horses give as a guard horse, and what happens once they retire from active duty? I remember when I was young (many years ago), visiting a retirement home for old horses no longer racing
Thanks Kath. I do wonder whst what her sons would think of her comments, buy that's not my problem. I judt don't like being accused of stuff I know nothing about. But hey ho
Sometimes it is an annoying insect, sometimes boredom and sometimes the horse is playing with their bit and move their heads to move the bit a little. I had six horses and none of mine ever did it, but that is what I observe d in other horses. I suppose it could also just be a personal quirk
These horses have had as much as they can cope with recently. They are sensitive animals. All those protests and looney tourists. Time they stopped being display animals and got a bit of space to run on a paddock every now and then.
