I've put hundreds of hours into the 3ds version. Have almost max hearts with nearly everyone in town. Except Jones... every time I wake up in the clinic with half my money missing I give that man some tomato juice. We hate each other.
@@mycobacteriem2540 if you have the level 10 turnip quest you can go off that to do level bonuses on your gear or use what level 10 items you already have. You need level 50 forging/crafting for level bonuses to work. Though at this point in the game, you should probably just look for other types of weapons you can make with more power. Or you can upgrade ut with materials by seeing how they upgrade in the upgrade info

That's exactly how I felt!! I thought I could handle hard mode but just trying to get past that chipsqueak quest was an absolute nightmare and I had to downgrade to normal :( And it sucks because now normal feels too easy, but hard is just way too much for me with not enough of a reward for all the effort; (other than my own personal good feeling of finally beating something really tough lol)
I just picked it up. I'm glad that you said that. I love deep games like this but I also tend to take my time getting through it without feeling the need to rush.
I discovered this series from RF 3. Now that RF 4 is finally coming to PC (Steam) I'm so looking forward to it. I agree that it lets you go at your own pace. The main quest is there, but there is absolutely no rush to get it done. Sometimes I want to "speedrun" so to speak, yet other time I would just sit back and care for my woolies and my farm for a whole season and nothing happens XD.
About the difficulty spike: I think its a way for the game to force you to actually use monster companions (even tough the game becomes reaaaally easy with those cat monsters, even on hard mode)
Bruh I tamed a Weagle (purple bird thing) around the time I fought Thunderbolt, brushed/gave it items everyday. Now, as I’m about to beat Terrable, this bird kills *everything.* Even beat the lava ruins boss in a few hits. So yeah, monsters are crazy beneficial if you put extra care into raising them. You can get yourself a madlad god bird to beat ALL the bosses for ya XD
@@WilderOfficial My favorite monster to date is the spirit. I love riding it and placing the dark spots, especially when the enemy is cornerned. Hey, getting healed, the enemy getting recurrent damage, what is wrong with that? (I also like to place two or more of the dark spots at the same place :) )
I love the Rune Factory series. It enables and rewards my hoarding habits lol. I didn't really have any problems with the forging skills since i had a crap ton materials to make stuff with. Yea Jones charges A LOT but I didn't really mind since I make a lot of money anyway selling the stuff I make in the little store in front of the castle. In terms of difficulty, I did have some problems but it only motivated me into crafting more powerful items I can equip and leveling my combat skills. I can't wait for Rune Factory 5!
Yeah, compare to other Rune factory game 4 has the biggest difficulty scaling Especialy during the start of 3rd arc and the optional dungeon No matter how strong your weapon, armor, and party member you have all enemies and bosses can still kill you on 3-5 hits easily, even on level 50.000(Which is APPARENTLY the game's level cap)
lvl 1, me getting taken out by thunderbolt. Jones "no sweat, 150 would do" me. "oh, that's not too bad." lvl 20, me "oh crap i died." jones "no swea, 5k" me "wait what!?" lvl 100 me "please no!, crap i died, well 5 k isn't too bad." jones "welcome back piggy bank, 50K" me. "....... O.o this is fucken highway robbery."
I dont remember exactly how much Jones charged in the 3DS version, or if there is any difference really, but everytime I died in sharance maze he takes half my total gold count, compared to now which is like 100k even in rune prana (which isnt that bad tbh)
I can't believe how enjoyable this game is.I have close to 170 hours now on switch.I haven't touched animal crossing hardly at all.If they could take some of features from Stardew Valley,and keep all the features in rf4 for the next game,then rf5 could be the hypest game on switch for me even more then Zelda.

Bought this game on a whim years ago at a gamestop and was amazed by how good it turned out to be. There was just so many things you could do(or not do really, your choice) and simplicity mixed with complexity everywhere. I was amazed by how much went into it with all the characters you could interact with things and continuing to surprise when I dont expect them. Some of the items even had funny descriptions and were sometimes references to things known or obscure. I'd like to say it was about 5 years ago when I beat the story arcs, married my favorite narcoleptic butler, had a kid, and eventually just burned out on it(and I know there was still alot I had missed). Just a week ago I tested out my 3DS I haven't touched in years and decided to have a go with a different perspective MC. Game is still a ton of fun and I had a switch I'd get it on there too. Highly recommended.
I forget where I'm stuck. I know for sure that it says "I have to save venti!" And I've already unlocked Leon at this point. Help 😭 (I haven't touched it in a long time. Dylas and Dolce were my faves, but I really liked vishnal too)
My thoughts? Great to see it back, but there were missed opportunities, ESPECIALLY with the lack of more characters being romance able. Part of me feels like this was a 'Travis Striked Again' scenario, where the release was partially done to raise funds for the REAL new game, Rune factory 5. We'll see, considering there has been no news for so long.
Which characters did you want added as marriageable? I haven’t played it since it was released on the 3DS, so my memory is kind of poor. I do wish they had added same sex dating/marriage to the updated version.
Was just doing some comparison research. Harvest moon one world: $50 dollars and almost nothing to do. Rune Factory 4 special: $30 bucks and apparently almost everything I ever wanted out of this genre. Easy choice.

I went into the mode, saw it mention that Ventiswill was free but no one else, and didn't even think to check the eshop to see what "price" it would be. Thank you for all the Rune Factory updates! Bought it on launch day... No regrets my friend! The another episodes, and newlywed mode! Damn good additions! Though after seeing ventuswill's another episode... All I can say is that the devs KNOW! They KNOW! And they're baiting us! >.
I love this review though personally while Jones charging is a bit too much ive never had an issue with it, though that might have to do with the fact i played smt IV and lords was that the worst case of forcing you to pay when you die?? How many new games did i have to start caues i just didn't have the money and then you permantly died and I had to reload and i couldent; get out?? also i do really like Jones character i find him very emotinal and a cute man to be honest. Hes cool, though his prices again are crazy. I love all the points you made tho, although i personally don't want more romance options im happy with the ones we got. I think rune factory 4s big thing is emotion and we got plently of it in this its really good great review wilder
Lol Stardew Valley's fishing mini game mechanic was really annoying for me 😂 I'm glad that this is simple enough for me to enjoy. But for the newly wed mode I'd still have to marry everyone to see all of the extra episodes, this is going to take forever 🤣
You don't have to marry everyone to unlock all newlywed episodes .You can unlock all newlywed episodes with an extra order for 50000 points after you finish the 3rd arc.(I think you have to finish the 3rd arc that's when I unlocked it.)So I only one play through is required.
I’m a little late the party, but I think I’m gonna pick this up. I also love growing relationships and having families. The story and character aspects are super important to me in games, so I think I’ll like this
There was a trick. Saving, sleeping until you find the day a town event happens and then, the day before, you get Dylas and Amber in your party. If one leave it's that they are involved in the town event, and since they both participate in Memories, if they both leaves, good chances are it is Memories.
Crafting. The reason I still haven’t beaten it on my 3ds lol. I got hit hard with the part 3 difficulty spike on my 3ds so I’m going to be trying to be more on top this time.
The fully voiced aspect is cool, but I found the stories themselves within the "Another Episode" DLC to be... kinda lame :/ I guess I was expecting something else with them, like maybe we'd hear a bit about the actual backstories of the characters so we get to know them better. But no, they're kinda just repeating what newlywed mode does, except the kid is included. Imagine how cool it would be if we learned more about the Guardian's lives before they became guardians! Doug and Margaret sound like they would have awesome stories too. Idk, maybe my idea sucks, but I just expected more than "i baked a cake for my wife's birthday" "i planned a sucky hiking trip and took a nap" "i made a buncha dragonborn children wow" :/
RF4 on 3DS was my first time playing the series and I loved it(a Harvest Moon game with a cool RPG combat system and story? Awesome combo). So when they announced a remastered version for Switch, I was overjoyed. One of my favorite games on 3DS coming to my shiny new device was all I could think about. And I decided to try hell difficulty. Looking back, I can say that I'd have really had no trouble on hard mode the way I play. I grind my skills and love crafting so getting to level 120 with powerful gear by the time I faced the old man was pretty easy.
Me: *watching the video late* Also me: *remembering all the fun moments in the streams where those clips come from* Still loving your work and this good video. I love the new special version. Never had the game for the DS but always wanted to. Thanjs for your work!
I love this game! It's such a total blast! I'm having one problem, though ... where the heck can I get some bronze? All I've gotten was maybe one piece from the water ruins, and some as a quest reward ... I've gotten to the point where I'm done with Obsidion Mansion and Dolce is released, and I have access to the cave in the forest.
I know nobody asked; but the reason I LOVE RF and don't enjoy Stardew, HM or Animal Crossing, is the ability to ignore villagers and go on an engaging, combat focused, adventure for the day. But then go back to telling acquaintances I'm in love with them the next. On top of catching monsters, I don't think any of the other "life sim" games have half as much variety.
somehow on my first play through I managed to avoid crafting weapons and armor altogether simply because I didn’t really understand it 😅 but I did manage to somehow beat the game even though it was took a super long time! (shout out to my crazy high level monsters) I just bought the special version so maybe I’ll actually try crafting this time around
I did the same first time I played. I couldn’t even get to the top of Leon Karnak in the second act, my character was just a total wet noodle. I’ve gotten a lot better at the game since then tho, crafting helps a *lot.* And pets dont hurt either.
You know what's funny? When you have one field of pineapple at level 10, you don't break a sweat with Jones. And when you have the Pineapple Juice recipe, you just laugh in his face because you're so rich he limits himself to a certain amount (don't remember which, but I had so much money to spend I didn't care anymore).

Yea the difficulty spike got me too! I was so confused when all of a sudden I was too low level?? I had to grind a lot, and I dont rememeber that occurring for the 3DS version 🤔🤔🤔
I've been trying to get rune factory 4, but there is literally not a single physical copy available within 210 miles. For living in Phoenix Arizona that blows my mind...

Games like rune factory are way too hard to find in stores, I’ve learned that from living both in New York and in Phoenix. You’re best off using amazon.

I know on the 3ds version being knocked out with someone with high hearts with you gave you a discount at the very least not sure if you had to be dateing/married to them though
is there a way to transfer Rf4 3ds save data to switch one's? i already have NG+ on 3ds version and i don't think i have that much time to play switch version anymore.
Love this game a lot but a personal problem with me which happened when I played the 3ds version as well and triggered it this time around is when you get a town event with a certain character in arc 1 then progress the story without finishing the town event, well that character will pretty much refuse to finish the town event and the participants will not join your party until it's completed (I wanted forte in my party at the time) Side note: I noticed when Jones wakes you (after a certain point) is half your carrying cash (minimum 5k)
I wouldn't say rune factory is like stardew valley. I would say sdv is similar to rune factory. RF is top because it's been out since the ds therefore it's mechanics have been around longer
I was agreeing to everything through out the video until the last part... Multiplayer ? nah, imo i would much prefer they keep making Rune Factory Series for single player alone. But honestly i hope they could make a better Rune Factory game in the future, Rune Factory 5 are kinda disappointing in a many ways. I would rather they focus on making a better new Rune Factory game than some niche features like multiplayer.
I have the 3ds version I got super stuck that I started over then never played it again I got the switch version a long time ago but I haven’t played it bc I am in constant fear I’ll end up reporting the same mistakes again I couldn’t tigger the event to marry vin the butler for nothing since then I never played plus I couldn’t keep track of what arc I was on or what I was doing I need a guide that has images and details on the game so I don’t get stuck again before I attempt to tackle the game on the switch
My events have been triggering left and right. I dont know if they boosted the rates, made them trigger guaranteed on certain days, or what, but I have just had tons, and I always had awful rates in the past.
I still havnt beaten this game on 3ds. Im like on year 3 almost 4 because of the perma sleep trying to trigger events. And now i’m stuck on the last dungeon! 😫
I just got this game not too long ago and I’ve been playing on easy mode and I find the bosses way too difficult . I just got to the floating empire section . I hate crafting and forging so I’m underlevelled on that I just want to progress in the story and am constantly being held back because this game wants me to grind everything . Recommended area is level 65? Oh hell no you better be a minimum 10 levels above that to beat the boss, don’t forget a full inventory of food items to heal, Jones will over charge you if you die but we’re gonna constantly remind you that you need to go do this till you do it, making you feel pressured to do it. It’s frustrating the difficulty is this intense on *easy* for me
It's worse than RF 3. The pace at which the game unlocks the seeds is extremely annoying and forces you to do daily rounds between the seasonal fields in order to continuously upgrade the crops, the difficulty spike in the 3rd ark is extremely steep and puts players focused on action into a unpleasant grinding mode; the randomness on the town events and the imposibility to finish a wife/husband run at your own speed is frustrating; the unrewarding difficulty settings is just making the fights longer insted to incentivate players to alternate in order to get better drop rates, events or at least longer day and night periods, the neglect in explaining core elements and functions of the more impactful upgrade materials or system make the player dependant in online research of the game funcionality; the fact that for no reason whatsoever you can't marry iluminata is unexcusable.
I know what you mean about the crafting system it's super fun but I feel like I have to constantly be at it in order to not fall behind and have the game be too difficult (which is why I just exploit it lol) Nice review, I enjoyed it
