Am I the only person who thought "Ancient Thanos" when they saw that box art? It's on my wants list! Great overview as always Eric.

Looks interesting. I'm a big fan of Dominion, but our game group has one problem with it-- the text on the cards. We're not spring chickens, and many of us have vision issues that require eyeglasses or contacts in various combinations such that there's always someone who struggles to see what the cards are from across the table (it's less of an issue in your hand). So it's nice to see a deckbuilder that is fully iconographic, though the size of the cards here looks a little small which still can make seeing what your options are from across the table more difficult. Besides that though, I've tried a few other deckbuilders and the one thing that Dominion has that none of the others I've tried seem to do as well, is the way combinations can work. In Dominion, you can get these awesome turns where you end up drawing 15 cards and can amass enough to buy two Provinces in a single turn. That's my favorite aspect of the game, and I wish I could find one that gives that same feel with purely iconographic cards. Maybe there's one out there but I haven't encountered it. This game does look somewhat interesting though, will keep an eye out for other reviews or playthroughs on it...

Hmm towards the end... cant tell if you like or dislike, due to luck and a possible pattern to always winning if you get certain stones... so, is this a like no go?

I usually don't think about liking or disliking a game, but rather understanding it: how the system works, what's difficult to understand, etc. I thought Rune Stones was fine, but like 96% of the games I cover, once the video is done, I never get back to them because I'm on to whatever comes next. -WEM

I will love this and buy it retail, but I had to pass on the ridiculous price of the Kickstarter they just ran for this. We all know retailer's prices are more consumer-friendly, and often Queen Games get discounted during retailer's sales all the time, usually very deeply. It's just the typical way it goes. Thanks for the content.

They probably could have cut the ore, it sounds overly specialized.

Well, that's the point of it. Ore is a secondary currency that can net you artifacts more efficiently since you don't have to worry about matching colors, but the challenge is getting ore in order to make that happen. You can ignore it, get it piecemeal, or dig hard to make it happen consistently. Your call... -WEM

@@boardgamegeek I think it's just excessive management. You can only use them for one specific purpose at one specific time. It's all an extra degree removed. Like, if you could use the ore to interact with the cards in some way, it would be tolerable. But it's for just one system of the game.
