Hi Allen, I am self taught. Last month we did a video that showed how I got into this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4SfMmw0GNVI.html
That is an absolute triumph! Such a departure from your previous cars but flawlessly executed. I could almost imagine this being the kind of car that ISO might have made had they stayed in business.
My compliments to you Chris and team on your design and build quality, this car is stunning!

Thanks! A massive undertaking but well worth it in the end. Now I’m thinking of finding an SRT10 power plant to build a midengine Auto union inspired design!
@ It was interesting to see you move away from the German inspiration to Italian styling. The Auto Union move should bring you back to your roots. A type C Streamliner should give you enough curves to keep you busy! Ha!
Incredible imagination, design and workmanship. I really like that you use “old school” methods to make your cars, it shows in the finished creation - a shape, proportion or feeling that you wouldn’t get from a computer. I also love that you’re doing this with your son and look forward to seeing your next unique creation.
Outstanding, thank you! 65 years old, started out with rods and drag cars. Then onto anything that goes fast straight line or in circles. 30 cars over the years. Beyond words how this video and others have touched my soul.

Thank you Chris! It is awesome to see how cars bring people together 👍🏻
Classic coach building as in the Deusenberg days-or early Porsche/Glöckler, Ferrari/Scaglietti. This is automotive art and collectors will do well to appreciate what Chris Rünge has created here.
I remember when I first saw this car being built on Facebook. I love the wide, retro styling wheels, the Shelby Cobra Daytona inspired body work, the 60s design, everything about this Viper based car is beautiful. Lovely work.
Hand made art Mr Runge; that easily humbles the Aston Martin & Zagato design houses, that couldn't create this kinetic sculptural beauty with 100× your budget. Coachwork handmade art, that I'll never be able to attain but I must thank you for creating for the world. When ever is more beauty in the world a bad thing. ❤
Somehow I think the great master car builders of yesteryear would look upon you and give you that nod of the head that just says it all good job well done .
I share all your design and car preferences but with none of your skillset. Bravo! I hope you will bring the Veleno to Jay Leno's RU-vid channel. He will love it.
Chris, I've been following you since I first saw you on Jay Leno's Garage. As an artist/designer/car fanatic, much respect for not only your talent, but your patience.
The talent this man has is awesome. But what I appreciate the most is the fact he calls himself a coach builder, and not a designer like others do. Namely Dave Kindig of Kindig It Design , or dare I say Chip Foose.
The frame rate quality on this video is kinda crazy. And this car is amazingly beautiful. Props to Runge for driving the passion of coach build and classic stylish

Huge thanks to my apprentice Alex. He’s got the camera setup and has been a big help in getting more videos here on the YT channel!
It's a good thing that you decided to accept this project that sat squarely outside your (at then) mentality, wishes, thoughts. Now, you're an even bigger builder, because this build forced you to step outside your wheelhouse and do some things as determined by existing parameters. Always, that makes one's talents and skills grow. It's also a lesson we all have to learn about complacency and ease, because they're sweet on the ear, whispering niceties, but in reality, they keep us in place, stagnating. Can't wait to see what's next for the Rünge history.
I will be honest, this is the first I had heard of you. But wow. That is an impressive piece of work. I very much admire the fact that you did it all by hand, And I absolutely love the fact that your son is such a big part of it. ❤ I have no doubt your work will be in extremely high demand. 👌👌
Dude dont ever find yourself doing anything alone. Should you need a hand id be more than glad to help. I love how youre working with your hands and head. The way it was done in the old days. Thats right down my alley.
This is amazing, the metal work is exactly what I've been wanting to start with projects myself, thank you for sharing this! I love the old-school nature of your work it's fresh air for us computer illiterate types.
Looks like this has been a massive challenge. New design principle, testing new computerised process, first stereo system. No doubt this has been difficult. Well done on finishing it, it looks great 🔥
PASSION of man especially this man is simply astounding. He is a da Vinci level visionary. How do we reward such powerful art that results in physical toil’s greatest creation! RESPECT❤
your videos remind me of how much I don't miss upper mid-west winters...and yes as always a beautiful job

Hahaha this winter just won’t leave us alone. I finally caved and tested the car in the snowy roads before shipping to LA! And, thanks for the kind words🙏🏻
Every time I watch a video and see a new car, I’m just speechless man. But also inspired. Inspired because you’re self taught, you’ve followed a passion, gone deep in the research, and it all shows in the best ways. If I could ever afford one of these pieces of art, it’d be the last car I’d ever care to drive. Please keep doing what you’re doing.
Amazing! The rear has elements of the Pete Brock Daytona Coupe and, of course, the Alfa TZ1. A TZ1 on a Mazda MX-5 ND complete drive train would be a wonderful thing.
i think the Miata would be a great platform, i have seen some bodyswaps onto the miata. However, it would be difficult to make a miata sound "special". and it is basically impossible for an adult to fit inside a miata with the roof up. I tried.
@@uliwehner I've only got 92,000 miles on my 2016 Miata so I haven't had enough time to determine whether I'll fit. I do know that at 76 I am an adult.
I love this one! Been following since the beginning I grew up in Mn visiting my aunt and uncle on Lake Carlos in Alexandria often. Spending lots of time snowmobiling and fishing on the lake. It’s cool to see what you’re doing happening there!
i've watched your show for quite some time ... and have admired the craftsmanship "but" amazingly you have touched our radial piston driven hearts : ) i feel like what Carrol Shelby must have felt when he saw the Daytona Coupe for the first time ... Bravo maestro .. we could only be happier if you went into production thank you
Just watched your Veleno on Jay’s RU-vid channel. Breath taking, beautiful, stunning,…. I really don’t have the words. Have you ever thought of using the Miata as a basis for a build? Every part is still available either from Mazda or a number of aftermarket sources Excellent chassis and suspension layout. A number of engine performance upgrades and conversions available. NA with pop up headlights or NB with fixed headlights. Low cost of entry and some stunning looks could be achieved with it.
This car looks stunning, I did design some cars of my own but they are still on the 3d model and scale model state, your work inspires me, maybe one day I ll have the courage to start building one of them, good luck with your work and your son is very lucky to have you as a fathet
Beautiful beyond words Guess the client's first name is Jay ? Your going to be a car star ✴️. The next book about exotic automobile design will include you. The name Runge will join the list of coach builders. Congratulations. And your son's accomplishments 😲 He's already done his PHD. The gift you have given him is amazing. High school is probably holding him back. He's ready for a great design studio. Turin Italy perhaps ? C. Demarest Hillsboro, NH. ✌️
I love it! It's very cool. It reminds me of a Bizzerini 5300 GT. I hope that several more get made. This is exactly what I wanted to do for a living, but never had the chance. Thank you.
