Mocedades is a group that all my family know them for my grandmother, they were very popular here in Peru. "Eres tú" and "Sanomi" are my favourites runner-up. I also like "Never let you go", "Dancing Lasha Tumbai" and "We could be the same"

The Swedish female singer of 1966 that you thought was so creepy is Lill Lindfors who later hosted eurovision 1985 in Gotherburg and "dropped" her skirt on stage, and then it turned out to just be a part of the act. She was also hilarious.

70's are just soooo amazing!Almost all winners and runners-up are fantastic songs... Best decade of Eurovision...

Great résumé of all the runners-up... I usually violently disagree with these types of videos, but I thought you were very fair! I would've replaced the winners of 59, 66, 68, 70, 75, 83, 93, 94, 96, 98, 99, 01, 02, 07, 08 and 18 with the second-place finishers, personally, but that's life.

The singers of the 1959 song "Sing little birdie" look so genuinely fascinated by the singing bird. I see them and I think "I don't have the heart to tell them that it is perfectly normal for birds to sing".

So many good songs. The stand out second place getters that should have won are Iceland’s Is it True (beating Fairytale) and Cyprus’ Fuego (beating Toy).

Matt Munroe was a huge name in the UK and he sang the theme tune to From Russia With Love. More sort of Britain's Bing Crosby but a great voice.

I was going to rant a bit About Amina (France) and my girls Chiara and Ira Losco, but then I realised I now have a new favourite runner up: Beautiful Mess (Kristian Kostov) is a song which just gets me. I'd gone off Eurovision at the time, but I heard it again last year and it's really beautiful. There's also a version using traditional Chinese instruments and it fits so well!

It's been over 3 years since this video was released and now we can say the UK has sent a great entry and secured our record 16th runner-up medal and who knows Manchester 2023 could be the UKs record 9th hosting gig should Ukraine be unfortunately unable to host themselves

The Shadows (UK 1975) were already a big name back in the day. They had many hits in the early 60s with instrumental songs like "Apache", "F.B.I." and "Wonderful Land".

All entries other than 'Refrain' is 2nd place, so you should react to all of them

My favorite runner-up is of course Edyta Górniak because I'm from Poland and I just love this song :D

Ofra Haza had a hit in the UK with In Min Aloo and guested on the Sisters of Mercy song Temple of Love. She did pretty well for herself and agreed she's awesome.

Isn't it amazing that Katja Ebstein took part three times and ended up always in the top 3? I like her first try most with that memorable fanfare in the song - exceptional composing idea- and her outstanding outfit that year, spacey.

1964 actually it was the Danish broadcaster DR (Danmarks Radio) who decided to delete the tapes with contest from 1964. Which is the same reason why there is no tapes with the Danish preselection from 1957 until 1966.

Sad. 2015 was a great year and I think Russia and (especially) Italy, Belgium and Latvia would've all been great winners 2016: Amazing vocals but I really dislike the song 2017: It's a pretty nice entry but I don't love it 2018: Let's just say this song really isn't for me. It was almost in my bottom 5 this year (prepares for hate comments)

Matt you talk everytime the old "Chansonthing"! But the Eurovision was called "Eurovision de la chanson". So you can hear 90% chansons at this time. Today there is only 1-2%....with luck! Sometimes i miss the old days but it doesnt stop me to be a fan of this grazy challenge!

Some of my favourite runner ups, Bulgaria in 2017, that one was my favourite. So young and such a wonderful voice and song, Belgium in 2003, I don't care that the language was made up, it sounded wonderful and I love the style. Iceland in 2009, should have competed in another year.

Common Linnets is musically the best 2nd place ever. Better than 98% of the winners.

Cliff Richard is the only song still played frequently by the winner and him. I tend to think that the rumours about the contest being fixed that year must be true.

2nd faves that should have won IMHO: 1963, 1968, 1973, 1991 and 1996 ( Bettan's I evighet ( for eternity) was ethereal and magical and she is Norway's and Sweden's pride and joy). 2nd place faves that are as good as the first place: 1965, 1970, 1971, 1972, 1975, 1976, 1979 ( yes L'm a child of the 70's!), 1988 ( what drama in that performance!), 1998, 2014, and this year! Here is a suggestion: maybe a recap of artisits who have performed more than once at ESC . Good examples are Udo Jurgens, 'Bettan', Katja Epstein, and Peter, Sue and Marc.
