Melony Levia thank you for watching....you know me come hell or hi water I will acomass wat I sat out to do...I'm just that STUBBED.....but having fun 😘
I now this is kind of late but you are smarter than 90% of us. I thought of the same thing, why run an idler and 2nd motor when you can just turn your equipment motor into an idler motor. now that said I believe the only reason to install a rotor phase or whatever you want to call it, is some equipment has multiple motors like a heavy duty milling machine or if you have a lot of three phase equipment. Also you will have to derate your motor by 33% when you do it your way, but thats still a 5hp motor . Another thing is the price of a vfd has gone down a lot I picked up a 7.5hp vfd for under 200$, you get full HP and slow ramp up time. Nice going!
This is a known way of doing it. The capacitor creates a phase shift to make the extra missing phase. If you move the red/black wire to the other terminal the motor will reverse in direction.
Jeff S got the amp draw.Running L1.11amps L2.12amps L3.21amps now under a load L1.14amps L2.14amps L3.20amps that was on my friends amp meter and I think he was exping higher amp draw.
What would a wiring diagram cost me? I am hoping that I am about to pick up a 3 phase powered lathe. You've put in a lot of your time on this, and deserve to get paid.
You gotta post another video of how you wired the capacitors from the single phase then split em up into 3 this is awesome! I want get the full 3 phase from alternator and wire it into single make myself a real near generator because they do put out like 80 amps
Hi. I did some videos about this a few years ago. I have noticed in my experiments that if the run capacitor value is too high then the voltage on the induced phase with be too high. I think that is what you have got. Your start capacitor seems about right as the motor starts well. Cheers, Andy
Andy Reynolds sir think you soo much for your comment I have seen you running 3phase you have help me to figure this out along with my friend.but the real man that know what he is talking about is you ty ty ty 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍ty mister Andy
Hey just wanted to say the belt suffer is working like the day it was recorded.......just one question has enevy body top this yet....start a motor under a load.......now I got some ideas how to charge a electric motor when it's beening used........and I'm not a electrisn....sorry about my spelling I was a high school drop out that whent to college and got a diploma........
I'm not too sure on this myself, however LP is the one who is talking in the background. He knows about the setup better. From what I understand it uses a combination of start and run capacitors to get the motor started then running. Again I'm not too sure on this. I will check up with LP and try to get back information if I can.
When you say 'if this was a 3 phase hookup, one of these lines would be higher voltage' you're not right. I think you're measuring phase to earth with your meter, and on a 3 phase grid connection you'd see the same voltage on all 3 wires (120 or 277 V in the US, depending on the connection type), but because the phases are out of phase with each other, you'd also see voltage measuring from one phase to the next, and you'd expect to see the same voltage between any pair (208 or 480). It would be interesting to measure the phase to phase voltages on your system to see how even they are, stopped, running, and under load.
There are different types of 3 phase power. I won't go into too much detail but there are systems where you get the same voltage across each leg to ground, and there are systems that have a "stinger leg" like he described in the video. In a 240 3ph system you would get 240 leg to leg, then 120 on 2 legs to ground, and the third leg to ground would be 208.
+anothermoth... I hope you are not an electrician...B phase can be higher to ground than A and C to ground. it's called high leg delta, in fact is very pillar in the United States. the winding between a and c phase are center tapped to make 120v.
Dia duit jomasterhnThat's a great job would you mind showing the capicitors value and relay set up I bought a 4 ton ramp with a 5 horse motor we have 220 volts single phase in Ireland any help would be greatly appreciatedGo raibh maith agatMr mac
He, LP was the one in the video who who did all of this, i was just recording. We will be trying to make a part 2 soon hopefully and ill let you know when its up.
today a friend came down be caused he was wanting to know what the amps draw on it now just running it L1 11 amps L2 12 amps L3 21 amps.now under a load L1 14 amps L2 14 amps L3 20 amps. now why was a 1 amp draw less under a load on L3??????? I would like to know...
anthony marasco I know wires is confines and I know they are a lot in that can...can't wate for my son to come up so I can show how I done it....ty sir 👍👍
Nice video brother. Love the accent. Remember me working in the south few years ago. I been trying to do that same 3 phase thing but Can figure out the capacitor rates and the relay tipes and so forth. Thanks for the hint.
George Santiago sir soo sorry just seen your comment I know I'm very late...running 3phase on single phase is very simply easy to do..and they are a lot of mith out there that is a lie about 3phase....can't wate to show......y'all
can you show us a diagram of how your capacitors are wired and capacitor sizes for start and run,,,,,,,the reason i ask is because i am trying to run my air compressor with a 2.2kw motor but its failing to start when i connect the air end of the compressor to the motor,,,,but the motor runs when its not linked i have tried capacitor from 50 mfd up to 150 mfd,,,,the smaller number of capacitor wont start the motor and when i got up to 150 mfd the compressor would run but cut off quickly because the amp draw was so much higher than motor rating so it would cut on overload
Here's what I've been told.... Do NOT run compressors or any other constant load motors/equipment(compressors, power feeders, etc.) on static phase converters. The constant load will burn up your motor. The reason your compressor motor-only runs fine is there isn't a load on it. Once you add the compressor pump, it puts a constant load on the motor. In your case, the motor and pump specifically sized to work together size and using a "capacitor-only-converter", you have reduced the motor output by 1/3. Pump can't run on 2/3 power of your existing motor and overheats. BTDT Once you let the smoke out of your motor, you can't put it back(joke) Someone, please correctly if I'm wrong -brian...still learning
B H Ok man I will agree with you 100prescient but my compaster is not getting hot .and too why dues 3phase used compasters to get the volts up think about it and they are wired in 3phase idle motors.....😀😀😀😀😀👍👍👍👍👍ty for your comment ty ty ty. now when I had 280volts going to it one side of the motor was getting hot..it tock me 4days to get volts right so one side would not get hot but I do know what you are talking about 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍...think you very much.
On a 3-phase 3-phase system one leg is going to be way higher than the other two legs best reason why I said Wednesday is tired and the thing is you know salvaging the voltage off of one leg like around
Dammit thats nice work there bub.....Gots me a new explosion proof sealed axial fan that runs off 460 volt its saying and i need to fire this up as fast as possible so maybe someone could help me out with a parts list and wiring diagram here please? Im working in the middle of the desert and by golly its hot and the bugs are thick so gots to get this fan up asafp thanks everyone for your help and yer time.....
Akash Agale ok first of all you need to know what your volts is running....if volts to high reduced compasters to bring volts down.....you Will need a resistor....now if the motor is hard to start put a start compaster in.......need to charge phone up will get back up with you
Akash Agale ok it's been awhile sent I seen this to control the speed don't add to many com that was wat took me soo long I was tealking com out because I had the motor running on 280votes on the 3leg and it getting hot...I whis my son wood come up so I can do a video on how I done it
