Why the mesh in the burn chamber? What does the mesh actually do? The bolt you took out at 18:43, You forgot to put the back in. Next time, please show where you exactly cut around the chamber, and also under the metal plate you removed and the reason why.
I have found if you use hydrochloric acid through a syringe it dissolves most the crud build up and it can be easily rinsed out with water. Don't know what repeated long term consequences may be but doesn't seem to have cause any damage to my chamber so far and it comes up clean with minimal work compared to trying to scrape it out. It is good to see an honest video about this subject and not people claiming to have run it for 2 years on putrid waste oil before cleaning. I just run mine on diesel less build up and less cleaning.
Did you say you've been living in your vehicle for 5 and a half months ! Wow... Very interesting. I was about to try making my own burn tube last week out of a piece of sheet metal... but I ended up doing some other tests. I have tried running the heater without any burn tube at all... It makes a LOT of flames shoot out the exhaust, haha. Have you noticed if your exhaust is running a lot hotter with this modification ? I suspect that it may be much hotter. Not that it matters, I'm just curious. I hate it when I get the heater all back together and one of the fans is rubbing on something ! What a pain in the ass ! If I had some great ideas for you that were easy, I would share them, but I do not. You may get a better burn if you use 3-4 layers of stainless and then use something to hold them against (close to) the inside of the burn tube. I have found that the flame in the center of the tube gets very hot and seems to oxidize anything I put in there. Your stainless mesh might not be staying in place and not working as effectively as a result. I have used the band part of a hose clamp as a spring to hold stuff in place. This might work for you. I may try this with stainless steel scouring pads instead of mesh because I have some scouring pads and I do not have mesh. Good luck.
You cut of the part at the back of the "burn pipe" for ease of maintain the clean up from build ups. I picked my burner apart the other day just because i heard that the burning sound was a little rumbling there was some build up of soot but it was quite easy to get rid of without the modification you have done. Now im thinking if i want to get rid of the tiny little bit of oil that makes this build up i am thinking about drilling a small hole from the burners place facing frontwards at 6 o´clock and then tilt the whole burner a little like you did. My thinking is that the oil that does not burn out will drain thru that small hole and burn up in the burn chamber tube instead . This to get rid of the build up in the place where the fuel is pumped in and that is harder to clean then the outer tube. It is just a thought of mine this far, what do you think ? Im using a mix of 70/30 diesel and clean used oil.
@@hobbychannelgermany5856 why does it leak oil inside the heater? Why is oil coming out and not burning. Is it pumping to much oil to the heater and that's excess?
Are you able to adjust the air fuel ratio? Some, not all controllers, will allow you to get into the secret menu with the 1688 code to be able to adjust the fuel pump hertz and the fan speed, thereby adjusting the ratio.
ive found that if you change the password to 5555 you donnt have to dial it in and just skip :) running mine on full rpm all the time and only adjusting the hz depending on the fuel. also giving it a bit of propane/butane from little campingaz torch into the intake to get it started
@@nicelights4884 Cool, are you running the oil mix? I just got mine today. I've already disassembled it, planning to do things to make it easier to disassemble/reassemble in the future. I'll be mixing my peterbuilt waste oil to run in it.
Yep, oil with about 30% e85 to get it to flow and burn better, filtered thru thick geotextile. Work od my burner is done (cca1000liter) but if i would start a new one, i would keep the back chamber intact and dremeled out the separator with new stainless mesh. Also would do the separator/dam at the end of the burn tube. As the guy above has done. It makes sense.
