Running A Successful Moving Business in My 20's 

Any of y'all in or ever been in the moving industry???

Some of the small guys make more than the big ones, its all about honest work, and being smart with your money.

Owned a Moving Company in Northern Ontario Canada for 10yrs. Started small. Struggled for several yrs. I have the service quality better than the competition. By the 3rd year my crews and I managed to pick down corporate accounts with the municipal, provincial and federal govt. Also had sold delivery accounts with SEARS Future shop and Best buy in my 200km radius. We had 5 trucks and 2 fans and 17employees. We were busy year round. Winter or summer with moving. 3 trucks on average 5 days a week doing moves. And 2 trucks usually on delivery and fans doing courier work. We worked 6 days a week. I decided after 10yrs I was gonna sell. The business sold fast. But the new owner within 16 months was out of business as he managed the employees and accounts EXTREMELY poorly. I killed me to watch my business I built die. I've been contemplating baby my another go around with owning a Moving company.

I’m in the process of getting my first truck, hopefully within the next month or two. This is good shit man! COVID hit causing my detail shop to close so time to get back out of my current 9-5 and get back in the grind. Been tossing around the idea of posting videos about my hustles since I’m still a beginner. Starting out with literally nothing and working my way to where I want. But I’m definitely subbed dude!

with 2 trucks you should have more than enough to pay bills and other peoples bills. i have a moving company with me and one guy and make an average off $500 a day. Sometimes $1000.

I'm about to start my own business with my brother. We currently work for a moving company together and practically do everything ourselves. Only difference is there's a guy that owns the truck that sits at home and gets all the profit so we are about to change that. No shame on bossman I'm just ready to be on the other side.

What licenses do you need? I'm thinking about it. I know everything there is to know about moving ,the work, paper work, etc. I was thinking about doing jobs under the table but I know I could get in trouble with the irs and also some customers needs the receipt for taxes or whatever so it is a big risk to spend 25k to start your own business under the table it is scary

Been working moving industry on and off my dads moving business for 15 years since 12 years old I’m about to start my own now ... he grew it into a 6 figure MOVING HELP business no trucks

It's a tough biz. I had a moving biz for almost 10 years...lots of hard earned money to be made tho....lots of crazy stories. The hardest part is finding decent help when you're ready to grow. Once you try to go fully legit with the taxes, insurance, regulations, etc that's when it can become a money pit. Keep it small. Good luck to you.
