Sunday morning. Emergency service call “My tankless water heater is 15 years old and it’s time to replace it” is the request. Still in bed, I reply “I’ll be there in less than 10 minutes, I drink my coffee iced with milk and sugar!”

He deffinetly needs the valve kit on that unit. Ive had my Rinnai RUCS75iN for 4 years now not an issue but i make sure cumbustion is correct and i flush it once a year, clean the strainer and have alot of filtering systems right off the meter in my basement before it goes to said heater and any faucets. Keep it up Mikey!

My Rinnai had a problem and I found that there were bugs and debris in the exhaust venter fan assembly. BTW, this Rinnai has had fewer problems than any other unit that I have worked on in the last 15 years. These heaters need to be checked and serviced on a regular basis. Most owners never do that because it is expensive.

Never seen a rinnai that used “b” vent but you can use it as a sleeve and run pvc through it to the roof

Mike, have you installed one of the new A. O. Smiths yet? The newest have a built in “scale filter” that supposedly never needs to be replaced. The new heat exchanger (X3 technology according to the literature) also doesn’t need to be flushed/serviced (also according to the literature). Installs the same. The filter is a little in the way to install the half unions on the unit. Otherwise, it installs the same way as the “old” units. We also put a pre-filter on the incoming. Time will tell how the built in filter holds up. Lol

@@PipeDoctor thanks so much brother. Water filter is very important and a softener. You should see the inside of our water heater. It is bad. I took the water heater out to our back porch. And took the heating element out they were so bad. I took 3 gallon of vinegar and poured it into the water heater. I'm doing videos about our lake house Renovation. Check it out.

I think u should offer plumbing and air maintenance. it is hard for seniors to change those water filters. so schedule a vist to change all the filters air and water as well as desacle the water heater. a complete package. Maybe also have a senior discount.

Hey Mike, love your channel. I live in central Ohio and my house is well insulated. You mentioned something in the video about the A/C being "oversize" for the house. I had new heating/cooling system installed several years ago. I too have an oversized unit for cooling. The owner of the small hvac company that I was dealing with tried his best to talk me out of it. I explained the the old unit would only cool to about 80 degrees on a 98 degree day. he said that's about the best I could hope for. I asked if it was possible to make it 65 in here on a 98 degree day. he said he could put in a bigger less efficient one but he'd have to replace everything and it would cost more. I'm happy to report that on those 98 degree days that it is a comfortable 68-70 degrees in my house. I keep the thermostat set at 68 degrees year round.
@throttlebottle5906
@throttlebottle5906 Год назад
oversized can be bad or worse than properly sized, because one of the main functions is dehumidifying the indoor air, which many people don't understand that lowering the indoor humidity is a big key to comfort and an oversized system may not extract enough humidity due to short run times, short cycling can also shorten the equipment life. you should ensure the dryer vent is connected and working right, as well as bathroom/kitchen/hood exhaust fans, which are all major sources of indoor humidity that work against your A/C and many people overlook those issues, including contractors! the original system and ducts may have been undersized to start with or the insulation and air sealing is nowhere near as good as you think, many people also miss the air sealing part and every bit of air that leaks in is full of humidity that directly works against the A/C and comfort.
@heiditatman5055
@heiditatman5055 Год назад
@@throttlebottle5906 I appreciate the advice. The insulation is adequate at best. I have not experienced any issues with heat or humidity since the new unit was installed and we've had some pretty unseasonably hot weather a few times. I do have it serviced once a year whether it needs it or not because I HATE THE HEAT! Here's something that will make you shake your head. My oven is not used when the a/c is on. NO EXCEPTIONS and if I can avoid using the cook top, I will. lol We grill out and use other methods of cooking most of the summer. I thought about putting an electric range in my attached garage but the garage is what it is and we do have mice in there from time to time. I don't want to bake a mouse. lol
@throttlebottle5906
@throttlebottle5906 Год назад
@@heiditatman5055 I avoid using the oven/cooktop also in the summer and thinking about putting an oven on the enclosed porch. it must be an Ohio thing, lol. relatives always had multiple ovens too, but they often cooked huge dinners for large family and relative gatherings.

him putting vinegar in through the filter every 3 months🙃 the pipes should be clean to the unit and the unit may not be that bad inside, assuming he got vinegar into it and let it sit a bit each time. 🤣 too funny and the rinnai and takagi were the longest lasting/less troublesome models on the market and probably still are, assuming nobody has changed the original Japanese engineering designs(bean counters and other imbeciles keep your hands off!) 🤪 that was straight forward enough

Did we atleast get them up and running??? Or did we just try to up sell them Code 11 pretty simple to fix. Heater could last another 10!years. Probably could've taken the flame rods out cleaned them with scotch brite and got them up and running while you ordered new flame rods for $27 in parts and while your at it change the ignition. Fucking video was a waste.
