A road switcher style locomotive such as this can run either direction leading without anyone on the long hood end. Notice the unit has both a headlight and ditch lights to allow 'maximum authorized speed' operation. Visibility is poor, but acceptable. I have run them that way and usually used the rear view mirror so as to keep my hands on the controls in the usual manner.
CPKC should use rear anti climbers like Norfolk Southern does since CPKC AC4400CWMs already have rear ditch lights and are used long hood forward as well.
Running long hood forward on a through freight is something I've never filmed, looks cool, I'm thinking the crew can see the signals ok just like back in the steam Era, great footage also!🛤🚂👍
