Whoa, that first sighting seemed to be quite chaotic, but the little Warthog ran like the wind. Hope he survived..... Delightful sighting of the Island female and her gorgeous little one. Thanks so much MalaMala.

If I am correct with what I saw: the zebras and wildebeest joined forces to fight off the dogs, who got so confused that they really missed their opportunity at a jungle favorite meal ---- warthogs? It is always nice to see the Island female.

The wild dogs were being more playful than anything... with so many impala here that is their main focus. We've actually never seen them take down a wildebeest, zebra or warthog before - although they are physically capable of doing it - there is a pack in Zambia that specialises in buffalo!

MM - That was such a very good and interesting video clip, but very unusual for a pack of wild dogs chasing warthogs, wildebeest and zebra all over and around the busy airstrip altogether. I don't know if you saw and picked up the message I sent you the night before last via messenger on Facebook about the Marthly lioness now. In case you didn't see it, she is very heavily pregnant according to a group called lions of Londolozi. As she did look to have a big bulge in her tummy, that will tell everyone that she's got more then one cub on the way, maybe as many as three or four in total. That will, undoubtedly, be a great boost for the existence of her birth pride to keep it up and going for many years to come and go. She'll be a first time mother, and as was the case before now, I'm sure she will be such a very good and highly successful mum to her own very first brood who she'll just have to feed, protect and provide for. I'm not even saying that she will do, but I do hope that she raises her entire litter to adulthood successfully. I don't know how far away she is from giving birth now, but I don't suppose it'll be to long. Like you, I can't wait to see her first ever cubs following her down a dirt track in a large and wide open area very soon one day. At five years old, she's done very well indeed to get to this stage in her young life that she's now at already. Hasn't she? I'm sure she will return to your property again this year, with her cubs in tow. That will be a bonus surprise for you all. It's hard to know, but I think it's likely and possible that the two Plains Camp males sired her own first ever cubs together. I hope she will defy the odds and raise her entire brood ever so very successfully, and keep it up non stop eventually. Hope to hear from you shortly. Robert 15.3.24

always fascinating when prey animals work together and stand their ground. there must've been a point in the past when the ancestors of humans realized they could do the same, and even become the hunters themselves.

I don't understand why they didn't take down the warthogs! Are they afraid of the tusks? Thanks for sharing!
@MalaMalaGameReserve

Yes, the tusks and warthogs are strong animals. With so many impala here it's not worth the risk

It’s perfectly fine for them to become meals. They carry other animals’ essential food on their bodies, and it’s one of their roles
