What is Self Acceptance? Beautiful talk about Acceptance. For more please visit Rupert Spiras channel here on youtube or his website non-duality.rup...
After watching Rupert's videos i suddenly realize how many wrong ideas are in me. I was trying so damn hard to "accept". And now i see that it is just a mind trick that prolongs his control. Everything is always and already accepted. Thank you so much, Rupert. I think for me and many others you are going to be the last teacher.
What have helped me a lot is to watch the emotion without "the story"... You can't even decide is it positive or negative, also Rupert's idea...and you realize it's nothing bad. Try it, it really works.
"in order to live without lack we first have to live fully with it and the same goes for fear" ..... And the sense of shame or unworthiness etc. Whatever we resist, we are enslaved to!!
Interestingly as I delved more deeply into a fear, I found that it was actually a reflection of a sense of unworthiness, of I don't deserve, in this case, of the respect that I longed for. As I was seeking it from other, it brought up a lot of fear because now my well-being, my sense of wholeness, was dependent on outer confirmation. I am, regardless of what others do or don't do, say or don't say. As awareness, I am the unconditional peace and acceptance that I seek. There is no fear for awareness.
Someone mentioned here in the comments, to just watch the feeling/emotion without the story behind it. Do not go looking for the reasons, the why you feel self loathing or any other negative emotion. Just try and watch it without reacting to it, without getting angry or sad, like it’s a piece of something you don’t understand and are trying to make sense of, impartially. It may not work in the beginning, the feeling might take over you but try to remember to be with the feeling and not with the story, because oftentimes the story is just in our heads, something we made up...
This is something extremely hard or impossible to reason your way into. Instead Spira describes a practice. The practice is just to watch the feeling. The reason I keep returning to these videos is that it is so easy for me to get off track, and make the practice an attempt to get rid of negative feelings, which in my case are often of regret over past meanness and insensitivity and also of inadequacy, and these all share a component of shame. Self-loathing is a very strong word. Perhaps your feeling of self-loathing will soften as you watch it with awareness. What I am hearing Spira saying is to acceptingly peer into the feeling of self-loathing with rather than attempting to eliminate it. The mind is doing the judging and may not stop or even lighten up in its judging game. Instead, you may glimpse your mind's game in the third person and feel tender toward its suffering. I claim no expertise. Just that I have had glimpses. Those glimpses make me believe Spira's suggestions can bring peace.
Every thing you are aware of. Already is. Has already been accepted because it is taking place. Your feelings also appear in conciusness otherwise you won't be able to feel them. Self acceptance is taking your stand as awareness an accept every thing that appears. Why accept everything? Because it just happens. When you are aware of it, it is already reality. Not accepting is for the mind that comes afterwards the fact and say I don't like this. If this thought appears. Accept it as well. And let it be
So you're saying when something happens and we judge it (either as a like or dislike), this judgment has nothing to do with the acceptance of it as it has already been accepted. Right? If that's true, then when something happens, we have no choice but to like it (just to make it more pleasant?)
+Knowledge conciusness doesnt accept a fact In order to make it more pleasant. The good feeling is not the goal but the byproduct of see thing as they are. Just forgive every "moment" for being as they are.
