The 2 piles of cards were made so you have a 2nd option in case you need to draw a card and you know the first card of a certain pile is bad (during the game you can see cards and place them back).

The top scheme action doesn't necessarily make you the first player for the next round, it lets you *select* who the first player will be. Given the way the strategy phase works, going first is not always optimal.

In these days.. This is really a hot topic. Well guess what, I could find a KS deluxe edition, I'm going to play it soon (i hope). Hoping meanwhile someone can stop that War in Ukraine.

I almost moved on this sounded boring, then I saw the component drop and the board and it hooked my attention. Production definitely helps a game.

It felt when I played like El Grande meets Scythe... but it still an easy to learn game.

Yeah so far I’ve played the solo mode on this and it felt a little bit like a puzzle on that auction board. That’s probably my favorite part of it so far. Metal coins for our copy doesn’t hurt either. Great review Tom.

Thanks for reviewing Rurik, Tom!

It says Players 2-4, but it has a solo mode, so should be 1-4?

Not every game has to be on an almost impossible to get to the table, due to how LONG/COMPLEX they are

this looks like a more advanced version of 8 minute empire. If I did want an area control game though I'd probably just finally get El Grande

I think I'm going to like this game.

This game looks really good but I hope to see a solo-centric review of it soon. If the solo mode provides a rewarding experience I'll get it. 🙂

Shane, Liz Davidson of Beyond Solitaire is taking a look at it and will post a solo review on her channel (and The Dice Tower) soon!

This has one of the best automa I ever seen. The solo mode is incredibly good.

I just saw on BGG forum that not only is the KS edition $90, it will also retail for $90. Nothing I see in this video helps me make any kind of sense of that. Even sixty dollars seemed a stretch, I mean sure, there's minis, but Risk Europe has minis much like these and it sells for like forty bucks or less. I'm kind of pissed tbh because it actually looks like a game I'd love to have.

Ist so rude, they are trying to make a money for their efforts! Right?

@@Tomáš_Nithrania no, I wouldn't say it's rude.

Recess Games has it for $85, I think it came with the neoprene mat

Miniature Market lists pre-order for $62.99. KS price was $69 for base game+shipping.

It looked more exciting during the surprise unboxing. Yeah, not a whole lot of theme and mechanisms do feel a bit clunky. Well, the meeple sliding action selection is neat. But no a fan of scoring when you get points for the most areas you had at some point. Quickly spread, then lose everything, but still get points.

Strange that the game is called "Rurik: Dawn of Kiev". Kiev was founded by Kiy and his brothers and sister (or so the legend goes), Rurik wasn't around for 4 more centuries #themoreyouknow
@DD-lm1gv
@DD-lm1gv 5 лет назад
It's obviously short-hand for "Dawn of Kievan Rus". Connecting the name Rurik and the dawn of Kiev is not "strange" at all.
