A lot of you really loved what Geddy said here about time. Our full conversation is available to watch here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--U0mnz__iUg.html
Geddy Lee seems just to be the coolest down to earth person. Rush fan since jr high & im 61 & Fly by Night still plays in my head every now & then ,, among other great tunes as well
Rush will always be in my heart forever. 🙏 Their music touched my soul as to say: "We've never met before, but we want to go on a journey and we want you to come along! What do you say!? " And it was an incredible journey. Love you my Canadian brothers. 🙏 RIP King Neil 🙏
They’ve taken care of everything The words we read, the songs we sing The pictures that give pleasure to our eyes. It's one for all and all for one They’ve work together, common sons Never need to wonder how or why!!!! 🎼🥁🎸🪕🎹🕍🎤 “I purposely switched the lyrics around a little bit to give back to priests!! These kings have given all so much to us”. RIP Neil Peart you deserve to sit next to the all mighty king himself!!!
Geddy Lee donated his personal collection of baseball signed by Negro League players to the Negro Leagues Hall of Fame in Kansas City. They are all on display right there with a giant sign over too “The Geddy Lee Collection”. Such an odd connection, but the guy really seems to care about a lot of things.
Yes… There was an unusual symmetry of respect & creative largess of these three men, the group Rush. Even the two of them finding a musical equal in Neil that did not really stand outside of the lifelong friendship zone of Alec and Geddy, yet Neil could also be perfectly independent as much as he enjoyed these bandmates. What odds that all this came to be... Such things are fated in stars. We are after all stardust. ✨
@@kevinmcgiffin10 I hear you. I sobbed like a baby when he passed. He was one of a kind. Greatest of all time. If you're trying to imply that I was being melodramatic, I wasn't at all. They've been my favorite band since 1981. That song was amazing when I first heard it, but it hits hard in the light of Neil's passing, as well as, children growing up, friends growing older. Heard it last night in fact, and I broke down. Those lyrics!
You managed to make the best interviews to the boys I have ever witnessed through decades. I mean it. Profund, heartwarming, felt interviews. Kudos on you.
One of the best interviews I ever seen with Rush, I laughed and cried throughout. When an interviewer can evoke the sentiments of the audience in a collective fashion, as if every Rush fan was there talking to Alex and Geddy, that truly is the mark of a great craft in interviewing. George, take a bow!
Beautiful interview. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 It is so refreshing to hear their wisdom about time. It is so precious. Life is not guaranteed, so we must embrace every moment.
People need to take Geddy's words to heart, they gave us so much, let them have what is theirs now, time. Go listen to the Garden, let them tend their own Gardens now, we all know if and when they want, they will share their fruits with us if they are not bittered.
I think that after more than 40 years and so much music and joy that these guys have given us they have more than earned the right to do what they want when they want and at the time they want, if in the future there is a collaboration then it will be perfect and I will enjoy it enormously, but if that doesn't happen, it's ok, I will continue enjoying the great musical legacy that they have left us all the fans.
I have a lot of respect for these fellas I grew up in the 80s listening to Rush I went to their concerts and so much of my time spent was listening to Rush
I honestly could never imagine my life without these boys…they mean everything to me, and help me through so, so much, and my thanks will never, ever suffice, despite it being all I can offer them. God bless you, Dirk and Lerxst…rest easy, Pratt-forever the greatest drummer and lyricist, forever in our hearts. You are forever loved, and dearly missed, sweet angel. 🙏🏻♥️
I was so grateful to see Neil Peart receive a Golden Gods Award on VH1 we were conducting press and it was such a beautiful moment to see him in person! I have been a huge fan since 1976 wow, so many amazing songs, thank you for this interview, made my day! Love you guys! So talented this band! Rush!
Thank you for everything ,this Mohawk native guy is one of your fans .all the world's a stage is my introduction to music . I fell in love with it and the rest is history .rock and roll got and continues to get me through some really fkn hard times . Then I entered the working world , I put music and working together and it took me to another level words can't describe. Adrenaline surge that chimed right into my aggressive nature , I learned at a early age that I could make money releasing my endless supply of energy going absolutely crazy working on the jobsite . Geddy said something that really hit home , it's the value of time . Thank you a hundred times . I'm dam proud to say RUSH is my favorite rock band , my thousand watt amplifier and speakers get the proper exercise they are made for . Rest in peace Neil Peart . RUSH IS ALIVE AND WELL IN MY PLACE . thanks again, Ontario Canada.
I’ve loved Rush for a long time. I’m a deaf bassist and Geddy was one of my inspirations. It would be an honor to meet him, shake his hand and tell him how much I’ve enjoyed his playing over the years.
In 1980,my mom took me to a yard sale and said "Here's some money..buy you and your brother some of those rock albums". I knew nothing of RUSH,but i saw their albums there and i knew my brother was a big fan..So naturally i bought those albums for me. That was in 1980.Five years ago i bought him and i seats to watch them at Hershey arena in PA...My love for Rush started the day i tried making my brother jealous.Thank you Geddy,Alex, and Neil. ❤️
The first CD I bought was the the Live Album Snakes and arrows RUSH did. I wore that out in my CD player. Alex Lifeson is one of the best guitar players and a personal guitar hero to me. I’ll never forget hearing the intro to Tom Sawyer for the first time. EPIC
Their music is so timeless. I saw Primus play farewell to Kings last year and going to see them play it again this week. I was a little skeptical but it was so awesome. I came to the conclusion that it would be horrible to never hear those songs again.
Look man, these guys spent their professional to the fullest. They left a legacy a book of life tools presented in album covers amazing music and life tool style lyrics. Rush answered questions never asked. To those who wish to see them on Stage...we should honor their request and delve into their works. Thank you Rush, i would not have ever made it with out you. And you showed me how to with style too. AMAZING to have had them in my orbit my whole life!
When I hear things like “A to B… different degrees” and “life in two dimensions is a mass production scheme…” definitely sounds like something consistent with a life tools manual
Man, I love these guys.... Thanks for a lifetime of joy together. You've ALL given the world so much. THANKS! 👍 Enjoy whatever it is that you want to do!
Rush is by far my absolute favorite band, always has been. I think these two should enjoy their time. They spent a lot of their time introducing me to life. God bless Rush Rip Niel!
LMAO I dont think GOD is going to bless them. They are good friends with that 'other' guy (satan). I have had a love/hate relationship with rush since the early 80's and this is the reason why. But your heart is in the Right place, for sure!
I’ve been listening to rush from the 1st album Neal is gone Alex and geddy lee have NOTHING To PROVE enjoy your lives and families THANK YOU for 50 years of great music
Don't think we'll see the two of them playing together onstage again .....but that's o.k. for us. We all enjoyed seeing Rush live and we still have everything they recorded and that's a really good thing. ❤🙏❤
You owe the world nothing , Rush has given the world so much , follow your hearts, your passions . Thank you for the incredible music and the passions you’ve shared with us … 💙❣️💙🇨🇦
I would love to see Geddy⁷ and Alex describe the Magnificent process of creating some of the most fantastic iconic music of the last 40 years with a guy named Rick beato. I'm sure the name is not completely unknown. But if there were a way to get them to share their unique approach to writing some of the greatest compositions that have propelled Millions into states of sheer joy and the appreciation of their main Lyricist Neil Peart, I think that would be fantastic. It would also be an opportunity to delve into the songwriting process in a way that I think Alex and getting my very much appreciate. Because it's not only about the past, but it's about the present and the future as composers and as creators themselves. I hope something like that would come to pass. Thank you so much for your amazing interview and a way to see these wonderful people discussing such an engrossing part of both their lives and Ours. Thank you George.
Man, I am with you brotha. Life is short, would love to see you guys again. Saw u guys in San Diego, CA. Back in 77 , love the music, u guys rock n will always rock n roll. God bless.
Rushes music never grew old to me..I still listen to em and many many other people I've known for years still listens to their music...These guys are a Legend and I'm so sorry for their loss with Taylor..I know that feeling all to well cause I've lost so many friends that I feel alone..Everytime I hear their music it reminds me of a friend I had that passed a couple years ago..Even in 2002 and up, he always listened to Rush..He's who got me into listening to Rush in the 70s uptill now..I remember he threw an 8 track tape in my car and I plugged it in and it was on after that lol...Like I said, their music never grows old
Rush will always hold a very special place in my heart. I got a stereo for my 10th birthday and I’d turn it low so I could listen to my Rush CD’s all night and not wake my family. Whatever the reason, they spoke to me through their incredible music
The fans should just be content. They made so many albums, concerts and videos....its enough. Theyve done more than enough. Fans can be so myopic. Focus on other things once in awhile.
Eventually you need to call it a career. 40+ years on the road, same three guys playing until one of them couldn’t. All genuine human beings. Rush respects and acknowledges their fans more than any band I can think of. At some point , the fans need to return the favor and let it be. As the saying goes: Don’t be sad it’s over. Be happy it happened.
Hey Geddy, all of us longtime fans. We love you guys, we grew up with you guys. Neil could never be replaced. What ever you guys decide make sure that you and your families are happy with it. Hold your fire, keep it burning bright.
My personal take is to just let the legacy of the music they made live on just as it is. I mean who could ever truly replace Neil? He was so much more than just a remarkable and legendary drummer. One could even argue that he was the very heart and soul of the band. He was most definitely the embodiment of the supremely rich and powerful imagination that gave us so much joy through their lyrics and song structure. I see it as very much like with Zeppelin....there will never be another John Bonham and there will never be another Neil Peart. We should all honor and respect that and expect nothing more.
I can remember vividly 1978, my older brother coming home with 2112 and sitting down to listen to rush for the first time. I'm a bass player today inspired by geddy.
Spend your time the way u want geddy/Alex. U did your time building a great career… yes we love u guys and would love to see more of u but it’s all about you guys now .. thanks for a lifetime of memories ❤
I saw you guys in Davenport Iowa when you were doing the Rush 2112 and I have your book and I am studying it and I have you 2 guys and your family's on my prayer list and God bless you 2
Man, do I miss both of those guys! Truly my idols! Ironically I get to see The Foos this Sunday here in Minnesota. I had tickets to the show before Taylor passed, but never got to see him live
For a guy in England to be listening to Rush in 2023.. They gotta be good. I totally agree... Thought provoking... Magical.. Cosmic.. Powerful rock music... I'll always listen to Rush.. ❤️
I think that they get to rest and do what they like they are the greatest band to ever play music. 3 tremendous gentlemen. I absolutely love Rush and I'll say. I don't mind not seeing them again. May Neil RIP 🙏 Forever my Hero.
Aside from the music they've given us over the years, the guys in Rush are just good people. Good hearts, good sense of humor... the kind of people you'd want to hang out with.
Rush were three hugely talented; funny; smart and genuinely good people. I wish the remaining two all the happiness in the world whatever they decide to do.
1980 9th grade, One of my best friends was a senior, lived right across the street from the school. We'd break out to his apartment to burn and he'd put on Permanent Waves, which was just released and that was my first exposure to RUSH. I can't remember ever hearing them on the radio prior to that. Moving Pictures and Subdivisions got air play, but they weren't playing The Spirit of Radio when it first hit. But, those afternoons at Tony's apartment, he'd put on LaVilla and ByTor and Xanadu and Fountain of Lamneth and 2112 and we would just get silly out of our minds. 1980 was a defining year in my life, that's for sure. I saw every show they played in Florida since then.
Top 1 Rock band for me personally, they have all these amazing written & great songs and unlike many other bands..never broke up or called it quits until Neil’s death (RIP), but it only made since then. Love this!!
I was blessed with the fact, I got to see them in 83 I believe it was and if them two get back on stage again. It ,and this was their words from a doc I seen that it would not be as Rush. But, I would still try and see them. There will never be another Rush.
These 2 gentlemen have meant so much to me and my friends growing up in the 70s and 80s and it's still hard to believe Neil is gone. As a musician, Rush was that platinum standard that so few could rise to. Geddy, Alex, you do whatever you want. And thank you.
As much as I miss them I only want them back if they want to be back. Geddy has been and always will be my favorite musician. Neil “The Professor” Peart, there will nobody who could replace his sheer talent and lyrical genius. Let’s not forget Alex as well, he has a craft with guitar and making it just work with whatever song they wrote.
Guys I love you. I teared up when Neil died. You have given us an awesome catalog. You.are absolutely right. Enjoy the time you have left and enjoy it your way. Spend it with your family as much as you guys can.
Geddy lee and Alex and Neil R.I.P gave us a lifetime of the most awesome music that a teenager in the early 70's up until the final album could ever want !!! From 1974 to 2012 , it was a ride and I'm glad that I was alive to enjoy that ride with RUSH...........
At the end of the day, you're not gonna be wishing you had spent more time at "the office" but rather more time doing what you love and being with family, friends, and those you care about. I'm glad I got to witness and be a part of Rush as a fan.
I understand fans want Rush to continue...Neil's passing was major...Geddy & Alex process for healing has no time table...Rush has given 50yrs of timeless rock that will transcend into the next 2 centuries...thank you Rush for making my bmx racing days so memorable...RIP Neil❤❤❤❤
All truly exceptional guys. Mr Peart was truly a humble, phenomenal musician and author (among other things in life) and was a genuinely nice human being as are Alex and Geddy. (which can sometimes be very rare in this world if you don’t take life on its own terms and accept the good with the bad, and if you must blame, first look at yourself and put blame there before placing it on others), the world with really miss Neil and I am sure these two do a thousand times more.
“Rock ‘N Roll joy juice” I like the ring of that. People who just bring joy into the world for no reason other than that’s who they were meant to be are really the best❤
