awesome as always! just one question, how do you get behind your drum set? the only thing that isnt covered is the ceiling so im imagining you must drop in from above or be lowered down by rock and roll angels to bless our ears yet again
I feel like if I can't figure out how Neil played something, all I have to do is come to this channel. I'm always amazed at how accurate you are. Thank you and great job.
Very well done. One of my favorite Rush songs to play. One of my favorite Rush songs period, probably! And to think this album has "Spirit of Radio," "Freewill," and "Natural Science" on it too. Man, the boys were straight killin' it then. Just brilliant music.
One of their most underrated songs. Your covers are always incredible, and your kit looks and sounds incredible. What snare is that? It sounds great, and that gong floor tom sounds great as well, and are those timbales or two auxiliary snares to your left? I have a lot of questions, lol. The new camera angle when you move to the tubular bells and other things is very cool as well. Great job, Sterling.
That drum part is so unusual and amazing. There are a lot of flams I didn't notice until I watched you play it. He goes out of his way for them in the first half of the song. It seems like his approach to that song is unique compared to other Rush songs. The part after the keyboard break in the middle has been one of my favorite parts of any Rush song for along time. Fun to watch you play the crazy odd time part and then it just builds into two amazing parts back and forth and back and forth. So great! Well done and thank you. Its comforting to know that these drum parts live on forever and watching them be played so faithfully is really great.
I used to watch a Rush drummer named Astro Tama, unfortunately he no longer does covers. It’s been several years since I found another drummer who does Rush covers. Now that I have found your Channel I will watch every video. Your passion speaks in your playing. Note for note you nail these songs. When I was 13 I discover Neil and became a drummer as yourself. Now I am 51 yrs. young haha! and it is amazing how today his impact on those certain individuals converts them to musicians. “drummers” keep posting. I enjoy all your work and passion and I might just try and post a cover myself. You have talent!! thanks for sharing👍 God bless.
DAMN that’s a serious drum kit. I remember seeing Rush 3 times on their final tour R40 Live and hearing this song made me cry. It’s one of my favorite and the time changes must be insanely difficult to keep up with. Thank You for this, it’s incredible.
As a Rush fan, who has covered Geddy Lee on bass since 1977, your cover is absolutely flawless. Thank you for putting in the time and effort to totally nail this - it is excellent. Even Mike Portnoy talked about how difficult the middle of "Jacob's Ladder" is (the cymbals, kick and snare) and you just owned it. VERY well done, NP himself would approve.
Damn dude. I see from your kit you are a student of Rush and not just a fan (got the bells and everything). Nice job. I would say you are one the better drum covers I have seen. Keep it up!
Sterling u continue to amaze. Watching your renditions of Rush, especially Fly by Night album reminded me of the brilliance of The Professor and his early influence on my style. Along with Moon, Bonzo, Palmer, Paice, Taylor, Collins.
This video has done so much to help me learn this song. I have to "dumb it down" because I only have a very basic kit, but still, seeing the playing in action is so useful. Thank you, Sterling.
Your videos are sooo enjoyable to watch. Besides offering me another opportunity to listen to a Rush tune, your skill and feel for the covers really hit home. Thank you , again, for sharing.
Incredible as always. Neil's drum parts are so smart and as important to the song as the vocals are. Its awesome to see you play those parts with such precision and passion. Thanks for keeping Neil's memory alive. You're an amazing drummer. I wish you much success.
Sterling, very well done. Love it that you’ve got Tubular Bells and mallets/xylophone’s. Very cool, nice work and good chops & timing. I was the same back in 1989 playing La Villa Strangiato. Those were the days. RIP Neil
At 3:45 when it goes into the interlude, this took me back to being on the floor at R40Nola, with the lasers beaming over my head and dancing against the back wall of the Smoothie King Center in that part of the song. Flawless, sublime, amazing. Who's cutting onions?
This channel is unfuckinbelievable.. I’m so happy this exists as a drummer.. helping me learn my idols songs visually. Literally every single one of them... you ever play TOOL? Lol
hey man i did a guitar cover of this on my other channel. if you send me the isolated drum track and the video file I'll find a bassist and make a virtual cover :)
You play really good,so close to the tune and sound of Neil Peart....He would be proud..through your hat in,because I have a feeling that Alex and Geddy are itching to make music, but they really want someone on drums that can give the songs justice and you are that someone....Put new videos out please.....You Rock!🤘
Hey Sterling It’d be cool for you to cover a few songs from the band Dust. Marky Ramone was a serious force to be reckoned with back in the day and I feel you have plenty of chops to really do him justice!!
Woah this is great. I subscribed. I make videos on how to be more productive - maybe they can help you get more done so you can work on your music even more!!
Like to see you do KarnEvil #9 Gonna need timps and a gong. Or Close to the Edge. Mabey some Dream Theater or Porcupine tree. See what happens when you kill it on the drums. You get request. How cool is that.
