As a 58 year old with hydrocephalus I can relate to this!!! When we lost Neil, it was more than just one of the best percussionist’s ever! It was a part of our youth!

I couldn’t say it better. I could not figure out why Neil’s death hit me so hard. I would start crying at the drop of a hat. That’s when I realized that such a large part of my youth had passed with him.

@timshelton8535 When you sit down and look at Neil ''casually'' drumming like only he can and then consider that he also wrote the lyrics for this mind blowing masterpiece of a thought provoking song, how could anyone not realize what an extraordinary soulful human being he IS. All the hardships he has endured would have completely demolished so many people having lived what he went through but Neil IS such a strong man. I respect this ''superman'' and am grateful for all he has given us. No one can wipe him from memory because he still lives in our hearts and in our minds.

Thanks John. As a 70 year old who has followed Rush from their beginnings, it was nice to hear this on your channel. It's hard to find these "gems" of Rush music elsewhere. Again, thanks for sharing this.

One of the all-time greatest "do it or lose it" songs ever.

I was fortunate to be at this concert. the whole show was transcendental, especially this song. Signals arrived at a time in my youth when I needed it. "Losing It" became my anchor song through so much depression and emotional stress. I am so happy it still has an impact.

I was lucky , I saw RUSH in San Diego. 1975. Never forgot it. Texas.

Such a sad, wonderful, tragic, beautiful song. Signals is a great album that is often overlooked as it is often seen as a transition album.

In the summer of 1986 I told my best friend that when Rush retired they would play Losing It just before they did . I guess I know Rush well. After 40 years of listening & seeing the band 36 times and meeting Geddy twice so you can call me a die-hard fan. I knew them as well as I knew myself. Sad but true and wonderful that they molded my life growing up.

The great Ben Mink, who played in FM (a canadian prog band) after Nash The Slash left the band.

Hey John. I've missed you. Nice to see you getting that rare chance to react to Rush again (on account of you having reacted to their entire studio discography!). Just a quick note: Time Machine Tour was 2010/2011, with video from Cleveland. This was their very last tour, R40, with video from Toronto. Ben Mink is from Toronto and has collaborated with Geddy on other projects. So, he was the natural choice for taking Peter Dinklage's place for the band's two Toronto shows. While Neil Peart had left Toronto following his first wife and daughter's deaths in 1997 & 1998, Geddy and Alex both still live in their beloved Hogtown (which was an affectionate name for the city when they were younger... decades before Drake apparently convinced a younger generation to call it "the Six"). Peart wrote this song after thinking of Hemingway (who was the writer referred to in the lyrics). The notion of a prima ballerina struggling with the end of her career was a natural companion story.

Thanks for doing this one! I was lucky to see it done in Vancouver ( different violinist )....they did 3 or 4 times only on this tour.... So fortunate! From west coast Canada 🇨🇦, peace.

Hi John, It has been a pleasure to visit your channel and see this. Your taste in music is obviously great, and, you play bass as well. Capitalize on all these things as you are still young. Great work sir.👍

Have u started looking into the lifts yet? Cuz that is the essence of rush to us fans that were 12 in the 70s when we were consumed by their art

This is a great song and I'm glad you like it. I agree it's heartfelt loving, but don't feel the hopefulness you mention. It's about people losing their talents due to age: Sadder still to watch it die Than never to have known it For you, the blind who once could see The bell tolls for thee

I think Jonathan Dinklage played it better. I really do. Having said that, it was still awesome.

There is a tribute band called YYNOT who are are excellent at Rush tunes (as well as their own material). Last couple of years they have done a benefit show for a foundation on behalf of Neil Peart, called Bubba Bash. Jonathan has played "losing it", I believe, at both shows. They also had Mike Portnoy on drums at the 2023 show
