Its actually not very hard to play! If you play bass then look up yyz bass cover on youtube and youll find a guy with monster masks behind him. I learned it from him and have it down perfectly. Easier than i ever thought it would be.
Alex and Geddy... if you are ever in San José, CA I'm inviting you to my house for dinner! You have been part of my moral compass since I was 14... Listened to you on CHEZ and CHOM FM growing up... Thank you for a lifetime of music... RIP Neil Peart
Wouldn't that be cool: they're just in the area and they've got time to kill - say an interview was shorter than anticipated - and they said, "Yeah what the hell" and half an hour later, your wife's pulling off the udon noodles and veggies, and you're just finishing up vacuuming and they politely knock on the door and you hand them each a glass of red wine. The meal is simple, but satisfying, the conversation is relaxing. Lots of inside jokes between Alex and Geddy, they explain some, and not others. You show them your concert t-shirts and aged, original vinyls and they tell you an inside story about why they chose certain album art for one, and how they screwed up on the live album (but you'd never know - it's all amazing). You get them to sign a poster that was literally on your bedroom wall days after it came in in 1980 something. You relax on the sofa, tell them about your kids, and they listen respectfully. And then... they get a phone call, the mood changes back to business. They stand, thank you for the lovely evening, and hug you and your wife. You toast to Neil Peart. At the last minute, you pose for an unprepared selfie in front of your San Jose garden, and you can't get the cell phone to take the picture. You're a bit nervous now, so they refer back to an inside joke they explained to you earlier to break the tension, and NOW you get it. They thank you, genuinely for a lovely evening. And they wave as they pull away in a restored '71 Mach 1, and are gone...
You know you’re great when you’re playing something harder than anyone you know can play, and you look like you’re reading a book- all three band members for this entire clip.
I wish they would show Neil when he smashes the plates during Alex' solo. And I'm looking at the video, but I don't see the stack of plates? Or is it tea cups? Someone is smashing fine china somewhere! 2:31, 2:38, 2:45
The only thing missing is their synthesizer work. I think Geddy was the one playing the keyboards. Obviously they can only play one instrument at a time.....but KICKASS anyway! :-)
@Kingnotail seriously? I live in a world of idiots who cannot hear that this is in fact the album cut? You don't even need to see this vid to know that. EARS! Get you a pair.
@@TruthSurge No, I noticed it too. It *has* to be the album cut, because there's clearly a synthesizer in the mix from 0:10 to 0:36, and from 2:55 to 3:24 -- and not only is there no keyboard visible anywhere near Geddy Lee, he's clearly playing the bass during that first part *at the same time the synthesizer line is being heard as well.* The only way this could be a live performance is if he's using a foot pedal to trigger a backing tape or a pre-programmed sequence on a synth that's off-camera somewhere.
@@ballyastrocade5672 it's just the album cut with them finger syncing as best they can. Most notably, Alex's solo is off. The rest is pretty tight and if he HAD nailed his solo exactly, then it would be much harder to say VISUALLY, but I am so aware of the sounds/mix of that song and in fact the entire album that in no way would I believe it is live. Even live, you'll never reproduce THOSE SOUNDS. Find any real live performance of this song.... it sounds live and it sounds different. Children who don't play an instrument and have never been involved in any way with audio production will believe it's live.
what a solo to have to finger sync to. poor guy but hey, it's hard to remember all those slides and hammers and pulloffs. The intro and outro solo is pretty memorable so he kind of nailed those but at least you get to see that main riff he's doing once or twice.
Other classic rock bands: maybe some good b tier musicality with obnoxiously over animated performances. Rush: Just a stone cold average day in the office while we murder the entire rock hall of fame systematically.
