From the amazing Rush S&A DVD, Ghost of a Chance. This is from the third disc (Oh Atlanta! Bootlegs) This DVD is awesome go out and buy it. Note: I do not own any of this, the greatest band ever "Rush" does
Ok, idk about all of you, but when i watched this video, i saw proof that this band deserves a spot in the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame. I think this band's earned the right to be in the hall of fame more than most of the other artists in there.
Neil was the Man...unmatched behind his drum kit. His lyrical talent was amazing. This is a man who rebuilt his life after losing his family...this this took tremendous courage. We are fortunate to have experienced his great talent. He left us way too soon and will be missed. His work is done here and now he can rest. His music allowed us all to enjoy life more because of him. A legacy very well earned.
He's not underated ,people keep saying this but he's always in the top 10 guitarist lists lol.Its like saying Neil is an inderated drummer or Geddy is an underated bassist,Alex is a fucking guitar god .
This has to be one of the most beautiful songs in the history of rock, i mean, the lyrics are superb and that solo gets me every time, it is simple but soooo powerful and well crafted, hats off to these gentlemen.
I saw Rush live 5 times. One of the songs that stands out was this one... but imagine this at Red Rocks under a star filled sky, with those glorious monoliths lit up in golden light. It was 'perfect'.
@@michaelportaro6926 Lucky you, i only got to see them once, they had so much chemistry on stage, without a doubt one of my favorite experiences ever. Cheers!
Sounds amazing! I definitely appreciate it. Unfortunately Geddy has a terrible habit of getting sick the day they're supposed to record these DVD's, luckily, his sickness on this DVD gave his voice more of a bite to it, if that makes sense haha
@@patrickthometz6365 When singers age, they often tend not to be able to hit the high range as easily, so he went to a lower register. He sounds good to me, but then I'm no professional singer, and certainly not up to the level of Geddy in his prime or of Roger Daltrey.
What drew me to Rush was their (Peart's) lyrics about ideas. They didn't just write about love. But when they did, they produced art such as this: a song I want to have a sculpture of, so I could look at it in addition to listening to it. A moment of silence for the great Neil Peart, please. Thank you. And deepest, heartfelt thanks to his bandmates as well, for their contribution to the progress of humanity. Thank you, Rush.
I'll never forget when rush played this track at the molson ampitheatre in toronto, summer of 2007. a few years later i saw geddy at the bluejays baseball game. I was able to shake his hand, tell him he was the reason i picked up the bass and that it was kick ass that they pulled this gem out of the bag! Geddy replied with a "thanks man, keep at it. Rock on" and throws up the sign of the horns. coolest 11 seconds of my life, thats for certain.
@@matthewhipps6547 yes, they also played the Amphitheatre in 2008, they played the ACC 2 shows in 2007. I was at all 3 shows and they were all fantastic. Though a little tired in '08 since they had been on the road so long
Love it! Back in the 90s I typeset the lyrics and printed a nice poster, framed it, and presented it to my wife the Christmas right after we were married.............. Unfortunately, we couldn't make it last.
Alex's guitar work on this song is outstanding. The feeling, the raw emotion, the precision. It's just one of the best solos in a career of great solos.
Saw them 20 times starting in 1994. So many great memories. I was at the Chicago show in June 1997 that made up most of Different Stages. I was at the Hartford show in 2002 when Neil came back after his tragedies and we never knew if they'd ever come back. Of course seeing them live is better than anything else - but we are so lucky starting in 1997 they filmed every single tour for a release that we can re-watch over and over. And before that there were many shows on video for the video screens and CCTV at the venues like The Palace in Auburn Hills which included the 1990 and 1994 tours. My hope is that we get the full uncut 1981 Montreal film and a full 1984 Toronto video soon. I'll definitely take any video screen feed of the Signals tour as there is no evidence that any shows were professionally recorded or filmed aside from mixing board tapes (but we'll take it!).
Medmac2112 your probably right. It Wasn’t meant to belittle your fragile ego. You can love the band without seeing them it’s just a different level. You’ll be fine !
@@jeffcarr6853Bravado for the main riff and the solo. Ghost of a Chance for the chorus but both amazing songs. My top 5 changes all the time but they’re both in it right now for me
Absolutely! In fact, the chords starting at 1:12 (Geddy's bass), 3:02 (Alex's face) and 4:28 (Neil's drumming) are ALL beyond orgasmic! I could listen for hours to just those sections of the song.
The way Alex plays this particular song is similar to how you touch the one you love to give them intense pleasure.. Sounds corny but think about it- listen to how she's responding to his mastery..
Utterly gorgeous song, showing Rush's range of musical prowess. Alex never overdoes his solos and accompaniment and his work here is hauntingly beautiful. Perhaps the finest three rock man band in history.
I heard about Neil's death on the radio today and they were playing alot of their songs to pay tribute and they played this one also. My prayers go out to his family and friends. I am very saddened by the loss.
One of my favorites by RUSH.Neil’s lyrics and punctuation are as always:the word GENIUS comes to mind.Geddy Lee sings the song with his melodious range to match the lyrics.Alex makes his guitar cry during the phrase”l believe there’s a ghost of a chance “,with his signature HEMISPHERES opening chord, bringing the song to a close.
I loved Rush in my teens, liked Rush in the mid to late 80's. This song made me love Rush again. Such a great song and album!!! Took my son to see this tour he kept wondering if the chickens were done. We had to go out for chicken after the show. Lol!!!
I just love the fact that they pulled this song out from the covers for this tour. This song always gives me a mystical feeling and chills. Ever since I heard this song, it’s been my all time favorite Rush song.
I was lucky enough to see the Roll the Bones tour in Orlando the first time around. The entire album is underrated. Still the best concert I’ve ever seen. Pure magic.
One of the best underrated songs Rush has. Alex wrote it and says it’s his favorite on the roll the bones album. I have to agree. The slow breakdown is just beautiful.... then the guitar whining with that slow beat and bass groove is just AMAZING!
Last show of theirs I ever saw, Red Rocks 2008, this song maybe planted the seed for me to leave a toxic marriage and find my true love a year later. The Hemispheres chord at the end... The question contained in the answer.
That Remington Steele look Alex gave the whole song. That butter appreggiated chord at the very end. The boys knew they wrote a sexy song. RIP Professor. Still can't believe it!
I heard this song back in 1993 as a senior in high school, and here I sit at 43 still listening to it. This live version is absolute perfection! RIP Neil =( Devastating loss in our rock world.
I'm really glad Neil came back from his family loss to give us more music. When I heard of his losses, I figured that the repertoire they gave us was sealed and complete. In 2002 when I heard of their rise in Vapor Trails, I was instilled with hope for a Rush future. Moral: enjoy each day as your first and your last. 2020: Goodbye Neil. You gave everything. You gave all. Thank you for sharing your gift.
RUSH = OUTSTANDING!!! This song melts me....the memories, the time in life when I first heard this song and it happened to be LIVE in Orlando.....Forevever a piece of my heart.
Some of THE BEST lyrics ever written!! I mean, how many ways can put together words that speak to how people meet and fall in love. Neil was THE BEST lyricist of all time, as far as I'm concerned.
I don't believe in destiny Or the guided hand of fate I don't believe in forever Or love as a mystical state I don't believe in the stars or the planets Or angels watching from above I believe there's a ghost of chance that you can find someone to love And make it last... And make it last...
I wish all of us on this planet that lived through "RUSH" could come back at the year 2112 and see them perform...LOL...wouldn't that be awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Michael Petty that would be awesome seen then on Sept 20 2012 closest anyone will see 2112 only 100 yrs and 1 day off it was my son's 14th birthday the next day on 09/21/12 took him with me his 1st concert and my 12th time seeing rush
One of my favorite songs by my favorite group. Everything here is on point--from Neil's lyrics (and incredibly tasteful drumming) to Geddy's voice to Alex's harmonious melodies. Just love it!
this song is magic, like between the wheels,...is magical... Rush is original,is fantastic,is all......My life always has turned concerning(around) Rush and is still equal............. a fan from Spain.
This has been the anthem for my wife and I for decades now. Just admire how it all comes together, Drums keeping tempo, killer vocals and by far the best ever solo of Alex. By far my favorite all around. The bass is outstanding. and we cry often when playing this.
listening to the recorded version of an intricate masterpiece like this is quite the experience. seeing them perform it live elevates the experience to "out of this world." these three are the reason i ever picked up an instrument and made music...
This and “Bravado” got me through driving in Iowa during the presidential primary of 2008, knowing very little about the state and how to navigate a car in snow.
the crowd applause is so loud - no wonder. The song was played with a great deal of love.....especially Lifeson - played with such "delicate concern". Magnificent.
Nothing had a bigger effect on my life both musically and philosophically then this band there's not a day goes by that I don't grieve over the loss of their music
Rush= FREAKING AMAZING, i dont know any band better than these guys. i love them all so much, Amazing music, Amazing lyrics, Amazing Voice. Freaking amazing Drums and Bass lines. and Freaking amazing guitar riffs, cords, etc.. Rush Forever!
And can we take a minute to appreciate how close they allowed the crowd to the stage? My very 1st concert was RUSH, Moving Pictures, SEVENTH ROW FROM THE STAGE, at the Capital Centre in Largo (DC), and it was indescribable. I felt like these guys weren't from our planet. The had to be aliens, because no one could put out that much killer music, being only 3 guys.
