I snuck backstage at Radio City Music Hall during the signals tour I was fortunate enough with two of the people in the audience to see sound check it was like I peaked on rush at that particular time but its not true I didn't peak. I don't think I still have but I can tell you this they bring tears to my eyes when I see how much pleasure they have given me over all these years my first concert of rush farewell to Kings at the Palladium in New York City
A body of work that changed rock music Rush released its eponymous debut album in March 1974. 24 gold and 14 platinum (3 multi-platinum) records later, the band is only third behind The Beatles and The Rolling Stones for the most consecutive gold or platinum albums by a rock band.
These guys don't know squat about the Toronto music scene in the 70's. I lived it and Toronto had some amazing talent. I would kill to be able to revisit my years at the Gasworks, El Macombo, Knob, Blackhawk, Picadily Tube, etc. FM, TPOH, Saga, Goddo, HoneyMoon Suite, Gowan (Rhinegold), Max Webster, Zon, Ian Thowas, Lee Arron, Jeff Healey, Teenage Head, Moxy, April Wine, Blue Rodeo, Sherriff, David Wilcox, etc. Toronto was an amzing place for Music in the era Rush started. Neil young and Joni Mitchell had moved on after Yorkville but the rest of the city exploded musically. Nice back then before radio went to country wide programming was the local Radio stations played local bands, You went to Sam's or A&A bought the record then walked up the street and saw the band.
This is a great revelation of the recognition of accreditation that it deserves as a bassist of 40 years + there innovation is incomparable and the joy to have lived in this era to experience such phenomenon WOW
Shortcomings aside, I still enjoyed this because it does give some insight into the actual evolution of their sound, from the very beginning and thru each album.
It’s funny how none of the background music is actually Rush. It kind of sort of sounds a little bit like Rush maybe if you didn’t know Rush but it ain’t Rush.
Yay - RUSH has finally reached the level where small movie companies leach off them and make unofficial and annoying short films where talking heads spew rehashed common knowledge over top crappy music that they think sounds like RUSH. Drivel.
Jay Yarbrough Music I was going to make a comment but you said everything I was thinking and more. Well put! They think Rush sounds like this? What...Too cheap to pay for copyright?
Appreciate the effort. But if anyone has been a Rush fan for some time there really isn't anything new to document about their past. We know as much as there is to know already.
I like the way you put that and strongly agree. Well said. Also feel their music is very honest with no prejudice or boundaries, a fusion of everything, but unique.
Uncle Rush.. Lol. They are always typically referred to as wise elders, druids \of rock rising out of th mists of time, a trio of musical polymaths .....but "difficult crazy progressive grandfather scientists of heavy metal " just nailed it ..........L.....................M.................A......................O
What they do after the show or who they hang around with or what kind of hairstyles they have is just not important , The emphasis has always been their work.
gee....rehashing everything we already know.....without anyone IN Rush actually in it....pics and video from other sources that have been seen already...what a waste of time
whoever made this film, please cut off its distribution and destroy any that remain. I would hate for this to be someone's introduction to Rush. It would be one thing if this was a small budget television documentary or a small film made by fans or something from a few years ago, but this reeks of a rip-off cash-in project.
I just don't get the description of Rush as heavy metal. Hard, progressive rock, sure. Just 'cause something's loud and the singer is screaming doesn't make it metal.
This is a 3rd party making an unofficial documentary, so they have no rights to use any of the music that the documentary is about in the first place. It's a shame that things like this are produced purely to try and capitalize off someone else's success.
Okay, here's how this works: they're using this LOOP of music to fill in the vacuum, when they can't quite get the trademark business taken care quite yet. This happens more often than you might think.
just give me one more Hemispheres !! Snakes & Arrows was just a weak album...I thought they were over. Clockwork Angels turned out to be a masterpiece of modern prog rock...
ugh, these 60 min "critical review" things are always dreadful. I can tell by the fake Rush sound-alikes that this is no different...4min was too much.
This film tells us nothing but what true rush finds all ready know! Sounds like me smells a leach! Yes that’s right the movie co. Is a leach trying to suck anything they can off of rushes renaissance!
