It's usually a desperation move, but in this game it was calculated with the terran on even footing.

Wraith vs Carrier isn't really about the carriers, it's about the Observers. What made this work is Rush hunted down the Obs mercilessly, correctly identified what was happening, understood that Motive could not possibly have the gas to buy detection, and masterfully built up forces while there was still time. Honestly a magnificent showcase of piercing the fog of war to divine the opponent's strategy. Chills fully warranted here.

Yep, my feelings as well. I didn't even thought about this being embarassing, just really unlucky that a single mistake completely snowballed the whole game

Probe has a little bit bigger vision range than scv so even if motive go check the 2nd minerals batch and see scv then rush scv wont spot the probe but motive decided to be greedy and not check so yes it really embarrassing to lose like that

@@phihoangle6642 But if he checks the second patch and there is an scv on the first patch, then he would get spotted. So he couldnt do that.

@@TheSuperappelflap not if he control the probe to go from the left instead of straight down, u check the minerals batch not the scv so as long as u don't see the scv, only minerals batch, then scv won't spot the probe

I think because you have to catch the perfect timing, and unupgraded wraiths is not great either. Like imagine if he didn't catch 4 carriers out naked in the field

@mcmarkmarkson7115 true but if you know that there is no chance at winning with Goliaths why not just try? Too often I see Terrans just pump Goliaths when there are just too many Carriers for that to work. And a lot of times Protoss don't have observers with them at that point because the are focused on anti Goliath micro.

@@zolniu Because the protoss will be able to tell you're making wraiths and WON'T leave his carriers without enough observers. You're also going to suffer severely if the protoss just goes back to making ground units

@@censuur12 This also + 2-3 carriers back at home after you switch back to ground protected by cannons will make harassing protoss bases super hard

If wraiths didnt need different upgrades as the mech army it would be more common. 2/1 goliaths do way more damage than 0/0 wraiths.
