Niki Lauda passed away in 2019 right before GP Monako race. Mercedes F1 Team to honour him has left a red star on every race car engine coverage. (allegory for Niki's red cap, he wore this cap his entire life). Niki Lauda had a huge respect from entire F1 paddock. He helped to build one of the biggest F1 team, Mercedes wchich won 7 times in a row consectutive championships. History has been made. Also he helped to increase safety in F1. A scene with a shitbox became popular meme, especially during 2020 season, when Ferrari produced really bad car, SF-1000. What is most interesting, Niki Lauda said, this film is actually 80% accurate to what happened.
@Rafa-pr5fe
@Rafa-pr5fe 3 года назад
In 20 May, exactly two years have passed since Niki Lauda's death. Well, if there is life after death, James Hunt had to wait for a cloud at the top for almost 26 years to talk to him again. Lauda was world champion in 1975, 1977 and 1984. Interestingly, he is still the only Formula 1 driver to have won his championship titles driving and in Ferrari and McLaren, the two most teams so far with the highest number of Formula 1 wins. Although I think the latter qualification will change quickly. His marriage to Marlene Knaus (the first wife played in the film by the well-characterized German actress of Romanian origin, Anna Maria Lara, resembling the real Marlene) lasted until 1991. In 2008, he married a former flight attendant on his airline Lauda Air: Birgit Wetzinger. This marriage lasted until his death. From both marriages he had a total of 4 children - two sons from Marlene and twins from Birgit. James Hunt also married twice before he died in 1993. With Suzy Miller (which we see in the movie) and then in 1983 with Sarah Lomax, this second marriage lasted 5 years. They separated in 1988 and divorced in 1989, and two sons were born from this marriage. In 1989, Hunt met waitress Helen Dyson, who was 18 years his junior. Because she feared how her parents would react to this relationship, both kept it a secret. The day before his death, Hunt proposed to her on the phone. The reason why we see Niki Lauda playing Niki Lauda on the screen is ... No wait, something went wrong with me.😁. Oh yes, it was Daniel Brühl who played Niki Lauda. 😁One of the reasons the role is so good, besides Brühl being a very good actor, is that he has had the opportunity to speak and interact with Lauda face-to-face. As Brühl himself described, he woke him up one morning with a phone call and said, "I think we have to meet. There is a flight to Vienna in a few hours. I'm waiting." Apparently the gentlemen liked each other because he took his private jet Brühl to the Brazilian Grand Prix, where he introduced him among others, the former famous drivers of those heroic years of Formula 1 headed by Sir Jackie Stewart. The idea was for Brühl to better understand the atmosphere of those years of Formula 1 that the film talks about. Although the film is fairly faithful to the facts, a few things have been changed for the purposes of the action. For example, only at the end in authentic photos shows that Hunt and Lauda, contrary to appearances, were quite good colleagues. At the beginning of their careers, when they were both still driving in lower series, Lauda even sleeping in Hunt's flat, when he didn't have an overnight stay while he was racing in Britain .

@tubekulose
@tubekulose 3 года назад
@@goldenageofdinosaurs7192 No, a "ue" replaces an "ü". Some years ago I wrote the following text: "It can lead to bizarre confusions with German speaking people, when not using the so called Umlauts ("ä", "ö", "ü"), both in spoken and written language. E.g.: Schlosser = locksmith BUT Schlösser = palaces Masten = masts BUT mästen = to fatten schwul = gay (homosexual) BUT schwül = muggy Bar = bar BUT Bär = bear Dosen = cans/tins BUT dösen = to doze Schussel = scatterbrain BUT Schüssel = bowl schon = already BUT schön = beautiful/handsome And there are hundreds more. That's why it's important to pay attention to the umlauts, unless you wanna say/wright something completely Dadaistic. Without the possibility to use "ä", "ö" or "ü" on your keyboard, better use "ae", "oe" or "ue" as a substitute, and any German speaking person will understand." Best regards from Vienna, Austria! 🙂

My dad Uncle and I went to the only Formula 1 race we ever went to. The 1976 Inaugural Long Beach Grand Prix. It was the U.S. Grand Prix West as they also raced at Watkins Glen which was considered the official U.S. Grand Prix. The hope with it was that it would eventually mirror the prestige of the Monaco Grand Prix. James Hunt was a bit of a hot head. Not long into the race I believe it was Patrick Depailler that forced him off at the bottom of the hill like at the second left hander before the short straight up to the hairpin and on to the back straight. James walked furiously over to bottom of the hill and waited for Depailler to come back around and James shook his fist at him. In the movie here the first race of the 1976 the cars were 1975 cars. They raced the first 3 races of the season before moving to the 76 cars which lost the tall air scoop behind the driver. We had access to the paddock area so you could see them working on the cars before the race which would have been Saturday practice and qualifying.

Emeson Fittipaldi abandoned McLaren to help his brother's F1 team, who were struggling to adjust their cars at the time. In the beginning it worked, in the following years they managed to get podiums and score relevant points in the F1 seasons, but the Brazilian F1 team had the misfortune to hire one of the Lotus Engineers who was inexperienced. He created a very bad car for the team, which created the financial crisis, which years later would end with the bankruptcy of the Fittipaldi team in 1982.

This film was based on a true story. In 1976 when fatalities in F1 were somewhat common. In modern F1 fatalities don't happen all modern F1 since Ayrton Senna have survived big 200 mph crashes with minor injuries except for Jules Bianchi in 2014. Also F1 cars in the 70's weren't made of Carbon fibre(the material modern F1 cars are made of).
