Such a powerhouse drum solo. He ripped. I mean the sound design, the mic set up and how they captured his drum tones (those Ludwig toms sounds MASSIVE, especially with how he tuned them). His favored number one Slingerland snare smacked and was super sharp. This is one of those solos that just goes down in history. Heavy and Neil's musical muscle and brilliance on display.
To be frank, he honestly looked more like Jonathan Frakes (Cmdr Riker from Star Trek TNG) when going forward from the COUNTERPARTS tour onward..XD RIP Neil. We miss you.
I cannot understand why The Police song Behind my Camel beat out YYZ for the 1982 Grammy for Best Rock Instrumental Performance. Not by a country mile, IMHO 😊
Well...here's a hint... For the SAME exact reason why it took SOO LONG for Rush to become Recognized and FINALLY put into the HOF. Mainstream/top 40/bubble-gum, musically UN-educated/UN-qualified drones!
All played great as usual, but the best and sharpest playing I have ever seen from Geddy..Neil destroyed his kit like the ultimate rock drum master he was..monsters of rock for ever and I play guitar (love Alex playing guitar of course)
Honestly what's so great about the solo? I've seen drummers in local bands where I live that can do that 5 min snare roll. I think the fills are pretty good, but why is this so legendary? Not trolling, genuinely serious...
Maybe it’s because of how professional and calm he is during the drum solo itself? He is very composed and he makes it look easy. Whereas other drummers couldn’t do it near as smoothly or as “professional” I guess? Or they can’t do it as smooth and fast? The only thing I know is that I love watching Neil drum!
Sooo...if it's from a DVD it can't be HD, can it? I do hope the original film gets remastered; these Queen shows that have been released in HD look like they could have been shot last week.
It depends on how you pronounce the letter Z. I'm Canadian and I pronounce it zee even though most Canadians pronounce it zed. Zed is the French pronunciation so I don't pronounce it that way and pronounce it zee instead. YY is just yy. YYZ is the airport code for Lester B. Pearson International Airport in Toronto which is where Geddy and Alex are from.
Simplified, American English (as in North American) pronounces Z as "zee." Traditional English (spoken in the Britannian isle, as well as other countries) is pronounced as "zeh-d."
