Russell Brand - On The Road Part 1 

after watching this over and over again for months i finally got the book and it honestly changed my life, im glad i checked it out. this'll be my first time watching since i've read the book(twice!). thank you so much for uploading. :)

The world is not as great a place without Matt and Russell together.

I wish I could talk like Russell. He just roles out words that are perfect for the situation without even thinking about it.

I read this book my freshman year of High school, and after 8 years I have read it so many times I now have 4 copies because they kept falling apart. This is the next trip I have planned. I am so excited!

It is indeed refreshing when someone famous/popular has respect for the written word. Perhaps many beautiful yet seldom used terms will no longer be considered 'big words.' I can only hope. Anyway, I love how Russell Brand makes witty banter seem so damn cool.

Russell is so dreamy when he laughs at Matt for being stage frightened. Matt is an incredible comedy mind, I'd sure like to see more of him!!! Love the way they joke about the tennis ball, etc...

I have watched this a few times now. Russell is brilliant, but I wonder if Matt will continue to be in the background. I think Matt is an exceptional character, dazingly funny and yes, very handsome. Hopefully Matt won't hide... he's very underrated!!

I remember when I first saw this and my thought, 'Russell Brand on BBC4... surely not' in a very camp and Brand-esque way. Oh how I miss the old him.

I thought that this documentary was excellent regardless of the fact that I've loved Russ and Matt for over a year now, it was just great and inspirational in its own right. Reading On The Road now too, great stuff =]

I love it when they are looking at the love list and comes upon Spanish Communism and Russell says, "He's having sex with abstract concepts. Democracy... God, that was a hell of a night, it was very fair." Then later when Matt teases him about his list... "Girl with one toe and hairy shins, that girl at the bus stop." He's so sharp and lovely.

I say 'well done' to Russell and Matt for bringing Jack Kerouac to the attention of a new younger generation. Death Cab For Cutie's Ben Gibbard and Son Volt's Jay Farrar are releasing a CD of songs dedicated to Jack Kerouac in October called 'One Fast Move or I'm Gone'. I've read Russell's books and studied Kerouac at length before and have sadly come to the conclusion that he doesn't really know what he's talking about here. Don't get me wrong, I love Russell Brand, he's one of my favorite comedians ever, but even he says he'd only half read On the Road when he did this and didn't really want to go through with it. It's a shame because I bet his philosophy now really alines with beat Zen and some of the other Buddhism Kerouac included in his work.

The opportunity to see things like this are why RU-vid is an amazing thing, and things like the bed intruder and Chocolate rain and the damage they occasionally do to the collective consciousness are, at the moment at least acceptable prices to pay. I completely agree, Matt was a sort of 'ego' to Russell's 'id'...he was the voice of reason who managed to keep him under control on the Radio show, it's such a shame that they fell out. It'll be very interesting to see how Ross deals with this mess when he returns to our screens/airwaves next month.

i like Brand, but have just finished reading the book, totally changed my life, looked forward to watching so much - and i find myself watching ten minutes in, and Brand has already moonwalked on the guy who wrote this beautiful books, grave - i felt a little twinge in my heart when i saw that and they just 'hit the road'. you're kind of ruining it guys, christ -

Over the years of listening to the radio show Matt has desroyed any of that initial, superficial sexual charisma or mystery surrounding Russell, and userped him. I honestly can not take anything Russ tries to say poetically or romantically, seriously because of Matt's constant, brilliant, far more attractive wit. HI WALNUT HEAD.

This is more supposed to be one persons view of Kerouac's writing & the impact & effect that his style of living had on him. You could get a stuffy academics view on his use of language and the psychological effects of his actions on himself & those around him but I guess it wouldn't be as easy to sell to a TV network as putting a "celebrity" on it. Also I think this was intended to combat the "Daily Mail" attitude to Russell & the belief by many that he was not intelligent and erudite .

I wasn't referring to people born with learning difficulties but those with idiotic views and misplaced loyalty to undeserving egomaniacs.

If Jack Kerouac was alive,he wouldn't give Russell the time of day and think he was a complete non-entity.
