it's all relative. He's kept his character, hasn't gotten really starstruck like you see with some actors. He seems to in for a laugh, I liked his participation in john olivers show as well
Haha! People need to calm down. It's Russell's sense of humour and personally, it's my favourite red chair segment EVER. I will randomly think about this segment and start laughing to myself. Honestly one of my favourite GN episodes and it's because of Russell Crowe. It was this appearance that made me think he was actually a pretty cool, funny guy.
I wish they made a deleted scenes tale or something like that where all the people who got flipped or didn’t get a chance to tell their story can tell it
for anyone who doesn't know, russell crowe is a new zealander. he was born in wellington nz, and retains nz citizenship. he is related to nz cricketers martin crowe and jeff crowe. why he would pull the lever on a fellow kiwi is hard to understand.
don't listen to what some idiot wrote on wikipedia. i recall the interview they are referring to, and that is a distortion of what he said. he has a nz passport and says he is very proud to be a kiwi, and uses that passport for travel. he said he didn't want to choose between the two countries - is very proud of both countries. it was an idiot australian journalist who put words in his mouth. australia won't give him australian citizenship, so he remains a kiwi. he got his schooling in nz. he has a lot of family in nz. he returns from time to time, and follows nz news. he comes out of the woodwork to fund-raise for nz emergencies, such as earthquakes.
superkiwistar Oh. I just noticed that thing on Wikipedia, but I was actually referring to this article: www.nzherald.co.nz/entertainment/news/article.cfm?c_id=1501119&objectid=11422684 I know all about Wikipedia and its reliability, so I tend not to use it. But my statement was actually a reference to the article I just posted, not Wikipedia.
Because he knew it would be a lot funnier to do that to his own nationality and the guy was sucking up to him, anyhow. I would have pulled the lever too if I was a Kiwi. Just think about it? Its funny to do that. Russell was just having fun and when is he going to have the opportunity to do it again. By the way, he now considers himself Australian.

Man, if I was on that chair my story woulda been, "I woke up one morning thinking I'd like to sit on the red chair and get flipped over by Russell Crowe."

Russell's Crowe started out as a carnival barker in New Jersey, back in '48, after the war. He was quickly promoted to head baker and then lead char house woman. His university degree was in post-assimilation sciences from Mumbai College of Orthotics.
